I generally liked Paradox Grand Strategy Games. But the things that I don't like about this games are DLC politics of Paradox
If you are more interested in the economical and roleplay potential of the Victorian era I highly recommend Victoria 2 over Victoria 3, the only advantage that Vic 3 has over Vic 2 is the graphics (and for some people the politics)
That or wait a few years for Paradox to take out some DLCs that fix everything (wich at this point is a tradition)
Even in discount Europa Universalis 4 will cost some 100 dollars (you’ll need DLCs for a good experience), if you buy all DLCs it ill cost around 200 dollars in discount, the same goes for Hearts of Iron and Stellaris (although since HOI has less DLCs it will be less around 150 dollars for everything without discount)
Crusaders Kings 3 is at just 50 dollars for everything, don’t worry, is just a matter of years before it reaches the 200 dollars of all that Crusader Kings 2 (a game who at the time of today is still more fun) has to offer

For anybody interested in terra invicta, be warned it is not like any of the other games on this list. It is on an entirely different level of complexity that needs to be understood in order to play the game effectively, and the game does not handhold you at all.

@@Leo-ok3uj Won't help really - the early game has a whole different type of gameplay from the middle game. Early game is politics, infiltration and intrigue. You only control a few agents and that is it. Middle game you have to build bases on other planets, and then construct spaceships using a space constructor. You can place individual parts and obtain a different ship altogether.
Even if you watch a tutorial for the early game, that won't help you much once you reach the main part of the game.

Also, early game is the curviest part in the difficult line on complex games, loosing in middle or late game tends to be more fun and it allows to learn more, and once they are hooked they’ll learn

@@Leo-ok3uj Well, this is not the case for Terra Invicta. The early game can be easy to grasp at first but then everything gets a lot more complex once you add military, colonisation and extra planets to the equation.
Moreover Terra Invicta is still in Early access, so updates can change both the balance and the game features. A tutorial made last year will not be up to date with the current patch. :)
If this doesn't include Darkest Hour, this whole video is pointless for me. I don't know what Paradox has against that game, but something is up. I mean, I feel like Dr Richard Kimble confronting Sykes in the last scene from 'The Fugitive' as he attempts to sell the public on 'provasic'.
