Moesha was so full of herself. It's crazy how they really tried to make us believe Kim was so fat. Smh.

Any kind of body standard is toxic. Bodies aren’t clothing to be changed and discarded for trends. Even the BBL and obsession with being thick as annoying as hell
Kim was a thick hottie. Kim was ahead of her time by like a decade or two.
For a while, I’ve felt that Moesha was the type of person who purposely befriended people that she felt were “beneath” her, so she could seem like the superior one in the group. Those are the type of people that I stay away from.
Moesha is one of those sitcoms where the main character is the antagonist.
And we didn't realize till after the fact 🙃

The gag is that Kim looked way better in her red devil costume than Moesha dressed up as a temu Tina Turner.
Watching Moesha at a big age and grown eyes is EXTREMELY different when I was watching it when I was younger.
I was ahead of the curve, I always hated Moesha. It was so obvious that they wrote this show so Brandy would get a character who was just a black Mary Sue. All the guys wanted her, she was supposed to be so smart without even trying, good at everything without even trying, etc, etc.
What's wild is the fact that Brandy was like this towards Countess in real life when her character became more popular on the show
And Gabrielle Union was like her role in real life

Another great video! Moesha couldn’t handle her friends’ successes/accomplishments unless she was in the middle of it. Now that I’m older and rewatching the series, I realized how spoiled and entitled Moesha was.
Moesha was fine as long as her friends didn't surpass her which made her the worst friend to have.

This is the same song and dance a lot of bigger girls with conventionally more attractive friends have to go through. The minute someone whose usually the fat, comedic relief, the one standing in the background gets any sort of positive attention, the same people we were avid, constant cheerleaders for act like we committed the ultimate act of betrayal.

Moesha didn’t like Kim or Niecy. It was like she was just friends with them because she felt they could never surpass her. As long as they stayed as lessers she was Gucci. She was weird ..:.same with Hakeem. She was a frenemy at best to that whole lil crew. They may have been broke but they had personality…Mo was dry and privileged. But love the fact Kim got her own show. I still watch the Parker’s…but watching Moesha as an adult gives me the cringe.

@@BootyFace-q2q she was also poor with a bunch of brothers and sisters. Mo was the only one from a financially stable household. Mo didn’t know the same struggles as any of them and reminded them in passive aggressive ways every episode.

Kim is my favorite character and I loved her fashions and hairstyles so much. She was done dirty in so many episodes of Moesha, especially in this episode and the Halloween one. #JusticeForKimParker

Moesha was always the character I couldn’t stand she was spoiled uppity and downright rude especially to her friends and I always said She was friends with Kim and Niecy because she wanted to be the best looking on of the three in my opinion Kim outshined all of them especially in this episode
Kim also has the best style, yeah they tried to play her on her style
So what I’m gathering is Moesha was the original Dijonay. Because telling your friend to go on a diet as an insult? Yeah, she had that one locked and loaded for the right moment.
Hater Supreme Moesha. Didn't even wanna get on the squad, but when Kim did Moe got in her feelings and her true colors shows. I get it, she's a teenager and still is growing as a person, still doesn't make it okay that she acts like a dick to what is supposed to be her best friend.
I really hope people take this to heart that everybody that say they are your friend or have your back really doesn't and are just waiting for a chance to steal your joy.

It's crazy you mentioned how Kim wasn't even actually that big. The 90s was a crazy time for body image. What we call "thick" today was actually considered fat back then. Like when Moesha was voted biggest butt. That girl was flat as a board- straight up & down- and was freaking out about 'biggest butt'. Chile. Even in Poetic Justice, they really tried to act like Justice was fat and needed to go on a diet. Like, where!?

I think a lot of us at first loved Brandy so much, we just saw Moesha as an extension of her. This is the first episode where I saw her as the villain and then I started really paying attention. We were so young so I couldn't get my friends to see that Mo was kinda spoiled and self absorbed sometimes.

Hakeem calling Moesha out was my favorite part of this episode. He was one of my favorite characters. Moesha was ALWAYS a hater, just like that one episode when Hakeem had a girlfriend and she was too nervous to sing, so Moesha encouraged her to go on stage hoping she would mess up. Then the girl started singing and Moesha ended up looking crazy. I don't like how they made Moesha and Hakeem a couple after that. She didn't deserve him imo.

Moesha is the kind of person that as an adult, you just tolerate her presence and never have her around if you can help it.
Tbh they were all bad friends at a point in time to each other. There’s many times Kim would ditch or leave Moesha hanging as well. Even Niecy played her part as a bad friend too. It’s just an eye opener to see what adolescents go through.

I remember being overweight when I was younger and watching this episode. I resonated with it and it broke my heart. I had friends behind my back about my weight. This episode honestly made me not want to watch a show anymore.

Growing up on Moesha, she was always marketed as the IT black girl! From the songs to her very own show! However, after watching it as an adult? They gave her the worst, ungrateful attitude and it really leaned in (imo) on the black girla, stank attitude ordeal. She was not nice to her friends, always wanted the attention (good or bad), was nasty AS ALE to Dee. I know they wanted the whole conflict between step mom and daughter, but some things were just unnecessary. Honestly, if it wasn’t for the comedic timing of her friends, I wouldn’t see how she would have any! Good thing for Hakeem for always keeping her in check. Moesha is a staple but now they could’ve gave shorty some type of character development even up until Myles got kidnapped 😂😅

Moesha is the friend nemesis that I cut off before middle or high school ended. I had a list made up in my head. Of course, some of those people I still hoped would mature into better people, but when I realized they wouldn't. I cut them off at graduation because we were on two different roads.
Looking back I didn't see as a kid how brandy is really not a good friend or daughter to her friends and family she's horrible watching as a adult
She wasn’t that bad to her family, she did have a strong sense of entitlement with her family tho . She thought because she didn’t get into too much trouble and had good grades she should’ve been permitted to do what she wanted . She was however a HORRIBLE friend and even tho she called Kim her bestie , she lowkey treated Neicy better .

Always love the Moesha show it was very good and for our Black community. I did notice they use to always joke on Kim. They did make it seem like Kim was overweight, she wasn’t that big. Kim was very beautiful, funny personality, and outfits was always cute. I think in real life on and off set they had problems not totally sure but I’m thinking they did. In the 90s they was quick to make jokes.
