Looking back on Moesha is funny because they pushed the narrative that Q was some bad boy when in reality he just had a strong NY deameanor. That's literally it. HIs parents weren't together but his dad was a business owner with multiple homes. Q had a job at the barbershop, did music, promoted parties and threw sets as a side hustle. The one time he had a run in with the law was Moesha's fault. He wasn't pressuring Mo about sex, and the only reason they had to sneak around was because Frank disliked the boy for no reason. I would've loved to have me a Q.
Yeah. Q was by far the most underrated character on the show.
Even the cop that pulled him and the others over said that he was going to let Q go but because Moesha kept running her mouth, Q ended up in jail. If Mo would’ve just kept her mouth zipped, then she wouldn’t have to bail Q out of jail in the first place nor would she had to use Frank’s credit card.
Moesha and her daddy were annoying as hell 😂

If you want to talk about another time Moesha was ungrateful was that episode when her friends threw a charity event for her when she couldn't afford to go to Africa with them. She then had the nerve to get upset because she didn't want folks "all up in her business". I would've had to cut her off as a friend after that lol😂
Yea, she was all in when it was Hakeem that needed charity but she didnt want nobody thinking she needed it. A mess..

On the topic of Q, I feel that Q was the most underrated character on the show. Many fans underestimate his significance in the show, but really, he actually had subtle character development. Yeah his and Mo's relationship started off as toxic, but there's actually a reason behind it. Q has never had a girlfriend prior to meeting Mo, so it took some time for him to get used to the experience with a girl who had her fair share of romantic conflicts in the past. Once Frank started warming up to Q, the latter and Mo, after meeting again in the 4th season, started to develop as a couple overtime. Too bad they had to make Q and Hakeem battle for Mo's affections as if she's a trophy to be won, because Mo and Hakeem were better off as platonic friends.
Mo and Hakeem had better chemistry as friends than as romantic partners. It’s messed up how that love triangle ruined Hakeem and Q’s friendship. The fact that the writers would pair Moesha and Hakeem with each other was not only poor writing, but proved how much the show lost its magic by the fifth season

Y’all remember the episode when Moesha was trying to get with her teacher. Then another episode when it was her 18th birthday and all her ex’s showed up including the teacher… I find it funny how Frank and Dee were “ cool” with her hanging out with him. A grown adult man. But her dad had a problem with Q, and Jeremy, Ohagie wasn’t around much, But the person Frank liked was Aaron. I liked Moesha but I was more of a fan of the Parkers, forgive me for saying this but I think the Parkers were a bit better than Moesha.
I enjoyed the Parkers...Kim wasnt expected to be so perfect.

Mo was definitely very spoiled, to give up a free car??? Girl you’re a dummy. Drive the car and save until u get the money for the one u want then sell the car back to ur dad😐. I watched the show in middle school (even tho it was off the air at the time) and then I rewatched during the pandemic and I still think she needed to be more mature. But I liked that she got into real trouble and made real mistakes, even though I wanted her to be better, it was realistic and made me relate to her which made me improve myself.

You are absolutely right about Moe being ungrateful. Being born in '93 I was young young watching this. I think I knew it then, but you couldn't tell us nothing. Moe was our Queen! I don't have specific episodes, but I grew up with The Parkers, One on One (can't remember the spin off), Girlfriends, Half and Half, Living single, Fresh Prince. If you want to go a little younger there was also Sister Sister and Cousin Skeeter (Nickelodeon). I'm sure there's a few others, but you're right sis, we had WAAAY more shows back then. We have good shows now, but nothing beats that 90's early 00's feel.😢❤

One of my favorite episodes from this show was when Moesha invited all four of her boyfriends chile. One thing about Moesha Mitchell was that she had a man.
Side note: even though Q and Moe was everybody’s favorite, I still wanted her to be with Aaron 🤭. He was respectful, smart, and cared for her. He even respected her boundaries (the episode where Moesha wanted to explore sex for the first time with Aaron).
That's my favorite episode as well besides the party frank busted her out at dealing with Usher.
But on the birthday episode Merlin Santana and Usher was my dawgs
I didn't like how Moesha did Aaron when she thought she was ready to have sex. She practically slut shamed him for not being a virgin like her. I don't know why she thought he was a virgin anyway. Aaron was older and already in college.

@crishnaholmes7730 When I first started watching Moesha in reruns during the 2010s (when I was about eight, nine, ten or eleven), I always thought that Fredro looked older so it didn’t surprise me to learn that he was only in his twenties at the time he was filming the show. When I learned Lamont was in his twenties as well, I was shocked because I thought that he could pass for a person in their late teens.
Q definitely looked too old to be a teenager. Hakeem could still pass for a teen back then.

This was a good one. Teaches a lesson about when it’s the right time to speak and when it’s best to shut up, being grateful for what you have, being financially responsible (which a lot of us when we were teens weren’t) and not all help is good help. I like the tv show commentary. Can you do A Different World (especially Whitley’s wedding episode)?? That would definitely make for a good commentary!
I tried to rewatch Moesha but the way they always talked about Kim's weight and Niecy being “dumb” was too much for me. It is nostalgic and the fits and hair were fly but a lot of the show was a no for me at this age.
And what’s funny is Niecy was never dumb she was actually very smart like that episode when she offered to tutor Moesha and she got in her feelings about it because for once Niecy was better at something than her the same way Moesha felt some type of way about Kim joining the cheerleading team.
And Kim wasnt even fat. 90s body standards were wild!

The cheerleading episode where Moesha was jealous of Kim because she made the squad and Mo didn’t. Mind you, she wasn’t even interested in cheerleading, but she hated the fact that Kim was better than her in something. I felt she always looked down on poor Kim.
Or the episode where Moesha exposed Hakeem’s cousin for being gay, and then she tried to be the victim because his cousin told her off.

@@tgirl1762 You’re right, but I felt like she had it out for Kim the worst. Almost every other episode Moesha was tearing down Kim. If it wasn’t about her weight, it was her intelligence. I think the producers of the show saw how Brandy and Countess were at each others throat behind the scenes, and decided to tie that into the show for Kim and Moesha’s relationship.

Moesha was always her own worst enemy. Brandy and I are the same age, so I was there in the 90s watching this show like "Dang, how come her friends never have her back?!" Flashforward to almost 3 decades later at my big age I'm like "Yo... why didn't Moesha listen to her friends?!" Moesha was weirdly painted as the one with smarts and common sense. Yet, now being so far removed from that era, the writers ALWAYS made Moesha her own downfall and yet we were supposed to feel sorry for her -- and I'm like "No! She dumb!" It felt like Moesha made choices that she felt would prove she was always That Girl... but nope

I wish I had a father like Frank. He gave her a brand new car paid for with no car notes. Man, every father's day I would've fixed him a big breakfast and dinner made only for a king.
I related to moesha because my dad was strict but fair (in hindsight) and i was the "fortunate " kid out of my friend group, married parents who were stable and had rules and punishment so that i couldnt wild out if i tried and i was out there around 17 messing with an alleged Blood knowing damn well i had no business lol. I didnt get into as much trouble butthe trouble i got into was definitely nothing too crazy. I was a Virgin until 19 so up until then i dealt with the boys who were tryna pressure me and having close calls. I really felt like this was my life 😂

True though Dorian wasn’t the best character one thing you can respect about Dorian was that he was a menace and owned it he never tried to act like he was a saint or holier than thou like Frank and Moesha did but despite how problematic Frank and Moesha were the beauty of the their character was having good and bad qualities being humans with flaws and not being the typical Mary and Gary Sue where we’re made to believe they’re perfect and their flaws are overlooked the entire series.
