- Quick how to on how to remove the knife from the cutter bar on a Ford 515 sickle bar mower so you can replace the knife sections (teeth)
Caution - NEVER put your fingers between the knife sections and the guards when lifting or lowering the bar!

Another good video. On that retaining bolt, put copper anti-seize on one side and blue thread lock on the other side to cover all bases!

There's a lot more to changing the cutter bar and hold bar wether you go with all new or partial replacement. Those big nuts on the hold down clips have a set screw and that decides how tight you clamp the bars especially both then the tighter they are the more wear, tear and noise you have
Interesting note on the nuts on the hold down clip. I have the original 515 manual and it does not mention anything about set screws. I'll need to take a close look at the sickle bar as well. I wonder if they added that feature, or if someone perhaps replaced it with something else over the decades. Thanks!
@@Buttons_fix_it it's not something added all these bars have them it's how they clamp the bar as to how much pressure is applied to the moving parts,I have only adjusted them once and that's when I replaced the cutter bar and the guard. Those were thicker than the old ones because of no wear. when I ran the PTO there was excessive noise and that's when I decided to adjust that allen set screw that's in the nuts on the guards
