How TV Executives Ruined Everything | State of Streaming 2023

- Hollywood has been big business for decades. First, there was TV, then there was syndicated TV, then cable, and now, we’re in the era of Netflix and streaming.
In this video we’re going to talk about the history of the TV business, how Hollywood made money and how that money trickled down to the creatives that made it. Of course, we’re going to discuss the writers’ strike (Writer’s Guild of America) and the actors’ strike (SAG-AFTRA strike). But this is more than just one of those “strike explained videos”. We’re going to get into how TV Executives created one of the most profitable entertainment enterprises of all time and then how it all came tumbling down with Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video and the advent of streaming. - Розваги
What a great in-depth dive. IGN is really stepping up their game!
Let's be honest more like how corporations, corporate greed and GREED, ruined everything.
Incredibly well made and comprehensive. Great job!
Astonishing and entertaining, this is high level content guys. 10/10
Sarcasm at its finest.
More like how corporations ruined everything
TV shows and movies are art. Writers, actors, directors, they are all artists.
But executives are not there to support the art. They have no problems sacrificing art for profit.
Profit.
They buy the art for least amount of price from creaters/actors, then sell the art for higher profit without a risk just like pawnshop/ car dealerships/ every business in america
Art 😂 maybe it use to be but not now. It's just a bunch of over privileged under talented 20 something from elite universities who couldn't write a children's book
Making money is their art.
@@AngryDad. Sorry to break it to you waste of oxygen but the only one believing that delusion is you.
IGN with another once in a blue moon banger.
More long form video essays please. Infinitely more watchable and interesting than pretty much any of your other output, no offense.
Pretty sure it is quite a legitimate offense to the channel as a whole considering there are plenty of other people involved with the stuff on here.😒
Seriously, was it even necessary just disrespecting the rest of the people that work for IGN at all?
Not statistically. Pretty much all UA-cam stats support the fact that people are much more likely to click on and watch shorter videos.
dante's inferno and diablo VI and metal hellsinger are these games no longer sequels or will they not be sequels in the future?
Excellent video!
This video should have more views.
Surprised IGN covered something real.. I’d give this video a 7
Remember when Disney had a new made for tv movie every month? Remember when Nickelodeon had SNICK?

X-Men '97 would reach more eyes if you put it on Fox on Saturday morning. Just saying.

dante's inferno and diablo VI and metal hellsinger are these games no longer sequels or will they not be sequels in the future?

@@mikelhendrickson5119 what? Are you all om acid or something?
@@AngryDad. No and can you answer a simple question Mr tweaker? Are you tone deaf or what?
Okay.. but the suits didn't write the horrible stories and dialogs ruining beloved franchises did they?
Bet they sent notes though......
Some did with studio interference.
Exactly!
The writers still wrote those terrible scripts and should share the blame as the executives.
@@REDKH928time constraints and input from exects affect what a writer can write. Do you even know how the industry works?
It’s not just the executives that destroyed tv franchises.
Nah its just them
@@AngelPerez-tu1nk it's also the shareholders they approve and vote the CEO's.
CEOs at the end only "captain the ship"
The 1% shareholders are the ones that own the ship.
Look up investment groups like Black Rock, Black Stone, Carlisle etc...
Nobody wants to watch Movies and TV shows full of political propaganda. The quality of the product being broadcast to people is horrible.
These writers are useless if all they can do is reboot or remake other peoples work that were far superior in creativity.
Poor delusional and bitter waste of oxygen
@@michael64h Gaslighting Alert!!
@@jesselubberts1013 Delusional clown alert!!!
right, nothing is EVER your fault, audience. the fact that you're all so impossible to please played absolutely NO part in any of this whatsoever!
I'll disagree. Most audiences can be easily pleased if not appealing to lcd fans, when appealing on a higher quality not everyone will enjoy a product but they will understand.
In other words, money doesn’t work. And humans can’t get along with each other or themselves. The end times are nigh.
