Uriu is Yawch's horcrux. He chose him because he knew he would survive aswellen. Meaning in case he dies part of him will continue to live on through Uriu and continue to pass on to his children which mean a high possibility for Yawch's return.
I figured that Yhwach used Uryu as a failsafe. If Yhwach dies to Ichigo or even Uryu himself Yhwach would just have to wait for Uryu to die and the powers to erase phenomenon would be his. Thus giving him the ability to make a comeback even stronger than ever
There's one very important thing I think you may have overlooked, that even the Sternritter know: Yhwach doesn't lie to his subordinates. For a mixed blood Quincy to be the ONLY survivor of Auswhälen in all of history is definitely worthy of note. Worthy enough to give him an "A" for effort.
Makes perfect sense. Virtually all authoritarian leaders do this, divide and control. Yhwach would know this since he has lived among and dealt with various Quincy factions, he also certainly knows Soul Society's nobility are divided and routinely take lethal swipes at each other while manipulating their offspring to suit their ways. He has an obsession against internal strife, one he's willing to settle by popping heads. Control is his game alongside his ultimate plan.
