@matsalvatore9074 If he hit 7 more HR, he would've gotten to 500 and in the hall a lot earlier. One could argue the reason he didn't was because of the strike. He more than deserves it
As a kid growing up, Fred was the man , his quiet demeanor, was how he played the game. But his play was big time. Without his big part of the 95 Braves we wouldn’t have won it. Thanks Fred for all the great memories as a Braves fan. Hope I get to meet you someday. A great ambassador for the game of baseball. And congratulations for getting in the HOF
Man am I glad I watched this. For me it is a treat to meet the guys I watched for years. I could tell by TV that he was a good guy but this is the proof. There is a whole lot of class sitting in this room right here.
I always remember when Fred was traded to the Braves in July 1993 and the stadium had a fire. Getting Fred was the turning point in the Braves' season.
I remember his first at bad as a 90s Braves fan. Fun times. One of my favorite players from then. Always professional and classy. Grats on the HOF, Mr. McGriff.
The fact that the BBWAA writers put so much emphasis on "playing the game clean/the right way" while simultaneously omitting this man from the Hall shows the hypocrisy of those writers. Crime Dog should have been a HOFer a *long* time ago.
Fred so happy for you man, I always looked forward to running into you at the ball park when scouting when we went to see Corey Ray at U of Louisville, A great day had by all with Tripp Jr.
Congratulations, Mr. McGriff. I always admired your swing and how you approach the game. You were so good and consistent all throughout your career. As you say, maintaining 0.300 or 3 out of 10 is tough. I mean much tougher than what spectators may imagine.
Over the moon for him to finally be inducted, It really annoyed me that he kept getting over looked, But The King Is in, Love ya Fred, All the way from Australia, CRIME DOG

You know what I can hardly dismayed the 500 number since it's been knocked down because of that era. But I was Fred McGriff, not to mention that he's also he's a first basemen, I will be proud and honored to share the exact same number as Lou Garhig
Congratulations Fred McGriff! Well-deserved and overdue. I grew up watching you slug majestic home runs in Toronto. Speaking of, @MLBnetwork, you made a six minute video on Fred McGriff but didn’t bother to include a single video clip of his 5 seasons with the Blue Jays? Which included arguably his best offensive seasons (by fWAR: 1988, 1989) No clips of his 5 seasons with the Devil Rays, either.
If not for the 1994/1995 MLB strike he'd have about 510 homeruns or so, so not having 500 shouldn't factor in. If not for the 1981, 1994/1995 MLB strikes, Harold Baines has 3,000 hits and possibly 400 homeruns.
I can't believe alleged users like, Bagwell, IRod, Edgar, Piazza, Ortiz, and even Larry Walker got in before McGriff. McGriff would've hit 600 home runs if he used steroids.
So happy for you buddy. I remember those nights you and Ken Caminiti would do tons of blow and party every night with random women. La Jolla misses you.
Very happy for him. Very deserving of the hall of fame.

The Crime Dog!!! Congrats to one of my favorite players!
My all time favorite player.
I always remember when Fred was traded to the Braves in July 1993 and the stadium had a fire. Getting Fred was the turning point in the Braves' season.
Long overdue. Congratulations Big Fred!!
If the 94 strike doesn’t happen, he might have gotten in sooner.
Hell ya! Loved watching him play as a kid. Congratulations!!
He played the game the right way. And he did it with a good attitude and smile. Nice career Crime Dog.
Fred McGriff Had One Of The Prettiest Swings Next To Ken Griffey Jr
Bout damn time! Prolly my favorite all time Brave.
My favorite since he came to Jays in '87. All time favorite player all sports included. Toronto stand up!!
Loved him with the braves but this is the first time I remember hearing him talk
1:31 the super RARE two-handed finish for the man who defined the helicopter high finish. CRIME DAAAAAWG!!! ❤

Several guys are borderline. Fred isn't.
Excellent commentary and totally based take 👍🏼 Could not agree more with all you wrote there.

Good job Fred❤️

I could listen to these guys speak all day.
The greatest consistent home run hitter of all time!!!

Way to go Crime Dog!!! Overdue!
Very well deserved. Finally they got this right. Wonder what team he will go in with
Braves of course.
If Albert Pujols Eventually Gets In I Seriously Hope That Pujols Picks The Cardinals Cause That's Where Pujols Did His Most Damage

Its weird seeing him without the hall of fame moustache.
Ya. Agree. Miss the stache. But man he looks great, got movie star looks and smile
Aaaaaaaand no one else this year, probably.
Scott Rolen got in too!

Steve Garvey needs to be elected next or at least by the veterans' committee.
And Dave Parker too

1 week left :)

There aren’t any REAL allegations against Bagwell, Martinez, and Walker. Pure hearsay at best.
Second player after Mark Grace
He was actually better than Mark Grace.
Did MLB upload this reflection on Fred McGriff's HOF career without mentioning the Blue Jays once?
Aaaayyyyeeeee Freddy made it to the HOF. Also some of the teams like the Braves, Blue Jays, and Padres need to retire his number ijs

Harold and McGriff are 2 hot guys.
