Celestia is arguably the most dangerous character in Equestria. She has control of a celestial body that, if used, can make the oceans bubble and boil away, melt flesh from bone, reduce fertile fields to ashen wastelands, and can very easily burn away anything and everything on the _planet_ itself. Celestia has to keep her temper in check, she has to become a paper tiger, as opposed to a real one. She knows the power she wields is incredibly dangerous if provoked enough.
The final message of this video is a very accurate one for such a powerful being. The being in question does not directly require aid for most general dangers. However, it does need others protected from its self. And if a person or creature (from a human stand point) is very precious or important to such a being, then to not have a reason to decimate a populace or group of individuals for actually harming said precious individual, then guards are needed to protect the dangerous ones from themselves. (Once I hear a topic I can say something on with a measure of understanding, I tend to go overboard.)
Its hilarious how he calls lessons in the arts in schools "frivolous" when he just wants to beautify an already extremely rich city. Just....classic comedy. I would pay to see him go hoof to hoof with twilight.
Love the fic, it's always nice to see the princesses actually explaining their power, as well as their struggles. You're voice, always so charming, I adore the appropriate emotion you emphasize on each word. I read this fic a long time ago, and completely forgot about until the line about the ash. No idea why that sparked my memory, but it did. This is such a beautiful, and powerful, fic. It's odd to imagine that anyone over a century or two old, especially among mortals for so many decades, would succumb to that kind of fury and lose control. Perhaps after a thousand years, especially on her own, she decided she wouldn't be capable of controlling herself any longer, which would be the reason for training Twilight to be a successor... Just a thought, anyway. The implications of her immortality among mortals should lead to some more interesting stories, I think, but maybe I'm just so darn picky and don't like what anyone else writes, hehe
This leaves me with one question. If Celestia sent Twilight to the Crystal Empire to make sure the population was safe... Why would she later make Twilight an alicorn and lose such a good asset to protect ponies?
