"Lawns" performed by John Scofield Trio Blue Note Milano 21-10-2014 John Scofield - guitar Steve Swallow - bass Bill Stewart - drums www.bluenotemilano.com
No one plays like him. Just been listening to Combo 66 and he's still got it! Hendrix and Holdsworth have been my biggest influences but Sco remains the best in my book! I've had the pleasure of meeting him on 3 occasions too. A great man!
I think what sets Scofield apart from many other contemporay jazz guitarists is his timing; he has an incredible sense of groove. Also his blues bends.
Mr. Scofield turns all the scales into sweet warm bubblegum that stir together so nicely the autumn wind outside does no better with the leaves. Yah as another gentleman in comments said- "his playing is wonderful".
Fantastic playing by Bill Stewart. He's really playing for the music, very sensitive drum part that goes perfectly with this tune. And that ride cymbal tone and technique is just excellent!
I love this because it sounds like it’s a ballad but it’s also got that country thing going on with it with the guitar and it’s just relaxed. It’s beautiful!
I love the black Ibanez AS200, beautiful instrument. Doesn't sound quite as good as his #1 IMHO, but its still a nice looking/sounding instrument. Love Sco's arrangement of this Carla Bley composition also.
i believe rosenwinkel popped into his head at 2:25 , a little nod to that classic rosenwinkel lick. scofield is such an endless font of "the flow".total master
Scofield's ability to make every note seem relevant and sincere... god his playing is wonderful.

Thank you so much for this beautiful rendition of this moving tune from the late Carla Bley 😞
Swallow's tone is so unique and cool, especially in a trio setting
This is his wife's composition - Carla Bley
Absolutely beautiful. John Scofield is a national treasure.
A world treasure 😉

i have said several times that i could listen to stewart playing only a ride for hours.
👏

this is real "shredding" - intelligent and tasteful art.
Steve Swallow is killing it on this!
this like goes to the warm sound of steve bass!
His jazz makes a lot of sense
Dio Scofield vi ama tutti !
There's no words for this fine performance. They are just each others better halves (or thirds)....
The best of best... This is the life.

I said nobody could touch this delicate song but Carla and Steve, certain not an electric guitarist. Is there anything Sco can’t play? Me thinks not.
Que bienn.Maestros.
Your take on Carla’s tune is so sweet!!!
ja,really smooth...
Бесподобно!
Sco plus Swallow equals yay!

very good for the love of make.specal sound for to person and flavor feel.
Just played this tune with a friend and thought we sounded pretty good. then saw this haha. oh Sco…
That subtle tremelo effect is nice and warm then he kicks it off to solo. Kick ass gritty lead tone, but it's still nice and warm.
Unique
👍💯
That little kickdrum, in my universe it is forbidden.....
맙소사...
Steve suono micidiale!!!
parts of this song remind me of Stevie Wonder's: Isn't she lovely.
it remind me "that's the way of the world" at the beginning
Or Joel's 'Just The Way You Are '!
Unfuckingbelievable
"Angular" as a guitarist friend described Mr Scofield. I would add: "Angular Joe Pass"
HUM!
un capo
this is spiritual funky n hardboild tune.
like dopin n bluesy.
is his black guitar new instrument?
fantastic how Bill doesn't fall out of rhythm here (4:50)
01:28 Solo John Scofield
Listen to how clear that ride “ping” is.
Sounds like “tak”.
