- We begin our description of episode 3 by immediately referring to episodes 1 and 2. They have a beautifully evergreen quality to them and taken together as a pilot episode will thoroughly explain the car, the arena, the challenge, and the people.
In episode 3 we’ll take a closer look at just how small the Fiat 850 Spider envelope is, and what kinds of changes are being kicked around given the fact that the team is going to increase RazzoFab’s horsepower from the original Fiat by eight hundred percent! We’ll also continue to marvel at Dave Klym’s fabrication skills. He’s going to build the left and right front upright. Not order the uprights mind you, build them from scratch. Each upright has sixteen separate components welded together, heat-treated and stress-relieved works of automotive art. We’ll also hear the team discuss the early design process of coming up with wheel size, style, and the brake package.
You must never forget that “Razzo” is Italian for rocket.
Always good to see craftsmanship. This might well be a step beyond....
Beautiful work. I'm creating a small machine shop to do stuff like this. Dave is a huge inspiration.
I'm a Boomer. In 1970, my best friend's first car was a 850 Spider. It wasn't fast, but it handled well, looked sharp, chicks dug it.
I cannot imagine one with 400hp...
Subscribing.
Watching this is watching art in motion. Amazing work.😊
Beautiful work. Great skils in one person.
I love this retrofit.
Very good to see lost art
My dad had a shop when I was growing up. One of his client's had an orange 850 spider. I remember looking in back and seeing that tiny engine with a header exhaust.
I have driven FIAT 850s for almost 50 years. I have both 1967 Spider and 1967 Coupe. A well driven 850 can be quick and embarass other sports cars on twisty roads. A four hundred horse power 850 is going to be scary fast on the street. One of the beauties of the 850 is its light weight. What is the projected weight of the final car?
Around 2200 lbs, when all is said and done. Thanks for your question!
Fiats are way underrated. They were cosidered " throw away " and suffered for maintenance.
Got a 1970 fiat spider...fun little shit.....
I had a Fiat 850 many years ago. Fun car... greqt handling! Everything about it was small! When it came time to replace the clutch, I didnt need no stinkin' engine hoist! Unbolt the engine from the gearbox, pick it up by hand, and set it aside.
You are a master very nice. I could smell the gas from the two welding watching that.
The Spider that comes to mind is the NSU SPIDER. With its rotary engine it was super lightweight.
Fiat abarth 850 was one hot car in the 60,s
I have been to REV's a couple of times (and LOVE it) and taken the tours along with the "workshop" section. Are there any plans to show this project during the tours???
Not presently, but we will add this to the 'suggestion' box!
Compare it to the old lotus elise
Amazing work!
@@Jacquobite Thank you!
Impressive. 👏🏻👏🏻
@@eunicejaeger2735 Thanks!
I'd rather buy a new MX-5 ND2. It will have all the modern amenities and the bonus of good reliabity, plus it looks a lot better than the Fiat 850.
And if you want more power, there's turbo and supercharger options in the aftermarket, together with upgrade ti suspension, wheels and brakes.
AI design s. Look nothing like that
MOST LAME VEHICLES EVER MADE
