  • This video goes out to all the people who struggle keeping their homes on track. If cleaning is easy for you or you enjoy it, this is not for you!
I've struggled forever with thinking my home has to be picture perfect, and feeling like a total failure when I fall far from the mark. Awhile ago I decided to stop worrying about having an immaculate home and instead see how I could make my home comfortable. I slowly put together a plan that feels realistic to the amount of time and energy I want to devote to home-keeping, and I wanted to share with you.

❤ thank you for giving me the words to explain living with chronic illness 🙏 thank you for helping me talk to friends and family honestly about my “ bad” days and stop hiding the conditions I have been diagnosed with. Just a sick day not “bad” ! Proud of your work ❤

Letting go of perfectionism and doing what you can, when you can. But letting go of the shame, that’s a new concept for me.

It is life-changing. If you don't have shame dominating your thoughts, then you have so much time to be free and interact without feeling anxiety.

Found you on TikTok, and there are so many things you have said that I can identify with. Thank you for this, autoimmune issues here as well, extreme depression, then a lot of guilt for not having the perfectly clean house.

I feel for you! For me, it has been a long journey to accept what my body is capable of, and not feel guilty when I don't meet "expectations." Sending hugs!

Thank you for sharing and being so real! ADHD, anxiety/depression, and am grieving the loss of my mother who I was so so close with. It feels like trying to walk through waist deep mud lately. So so much to do and take care of as a stay at home mom. You’re helping me so so much. Thank you!!!🥰

That's awesome! It really works well because it can be so personalized. I've tried so many cleaning systems that only work if you can keep up with a pretty rigorous routine!

Just wanted to say I love your philosophy and outlook on cleaning and your home; you get it more so than anyone else I've seen, and I can't emphasize that enough. Cleaning videos are so inspiring and motivational but those moments of motivation are always temporary. With you, it feels realistic and doable. I recently moved back into my childhood home with my mom and sister and it's been in desperate need of a thorough clean for a while. The house was perfect when we were kids but it's so big and unmanageable now. After finding you, I feel ready to tackle it! I love that you showcase the skills to stay disciplined while also listening to your body and letting it be okay if it's not perfect or if it takes you a while to do it. I'm not one to comment on videos but I appreciate you sharing and wanted to show my support!

Wow, this comment made me so emotional! I have struggled so hard and for so long, and it makes me feel like there's added value, if anything I've learned can help in some way.
That sounds like a huge project! A little at a time will get your home feeling comfortable before long! Know that I'm over here tackling projects bit-by-bit, while you are!!
      Thank you for your support!!

Yay! We have so much in common when it comes to cleaning. I don't need perfect. But I do need comfortable and realistic. So glad that you found a method that feels good to you! And that you are able to motivate and inspire others with what you have learned 🤗

I know this is going to sound a little crazy, but having a little "dirty" in our homes is better for our immune systems. We all know the saying "practice makes perfect" and that applies to our health also. You are doing awesome Sarah. :)

Sarah thank you for sharing. My daughter found you on tic tok and sent your u tube link as well. I have no friends that deal with chronic pain and yes I am my worse enemy when it comes to cleaning but I know what happens when I do too much then not wanting to do it. Thank you for being honest. It means a lot.

That's so sweet! No one without chronic pain can understand the toll it takes. I hope you are learning what your body is capable of, and not torturing yourself when you can't do what you want to do! I know from experience that it is quite a process!

Loved this video, Sarah 💞. As I continue to heal, my views on cleaning have changed as well. My body does not do marathon cleaning anyone either. Also, I have learned to not strive for perfection and just care for my home 💞. Love the list 💞💞. Have a fabulous week, sweet friend 💞xoxo

I love that you basically said, even if I had the time and energy, I don't want to marathon clean. Cause I have the time, but boy do I hate cleaning 🤣 its not fun, it's overwhelming, and so time consuming, even without kids.

My husband's work schedule makes it so that while the days he works are longer, the amount of days he works per week are less than normal. So I don't have 6 days a week to deep clean one room every working day, every week. Splitting the house into weekly deep cleans seems like it might work so much better for our schedule. Thank you 🥰

My house is completely wrecked, where do you start?

    • @SarahMcGloryHome
      @SarahMcGloryHome  3 роки тому +4

I'd say to start with a few of your most high volume areas at first, instead of tackling the whole house. So maybe this week, let's say you want to tackle the kitchen, living room, and a bedroom. Get a box or a hamper or something, and when you're in the kitchen, put everything in the hamper that doesn't belong in the kitchen. Then throw out all the trash. Then put all the dishes in the area of the sink. If you have pantry stuff out, put it all in one area. Basically just get all the "like" items together. Once everything is in categories, it gets easier to see what to do next. The other rooms are similar- just grab all the trash first, then put any dishes in the kitchen, any laundry in the laundry room, and anything that doesn't belong in the current room you're working in, in a hamper. Then just put everything into categories. Worry about putting the stuff from the hamper away once you've done all the other stuff, (and it can usually wait for days, if need be.) If you have the bandwidth, maybe make yourself a list, like I did, just writing down what has to happen daily, what needs to get done weekly, and start there. Once things feel more manageable, maybe integrate a little bit of deep cleaning. But above all, just try to capitalize on what works for you and your family/home etc. I need to do little spurts and then sit down with the kids. I do that several times a day, and it keeps me from getting too tired, but also keeps things flowing. Does that make sense? Sorry for the novel!
