I saw Sevendust play in Albany, NY back in 2003 just a few months after his brother died.Lajon dedicated the track to his bro at the beginning of the song, but broke down crying on stage halfway through. It looked like he was headed off stage, but in that moment he came back to the mic and powered through-singing with so much heart and conviction with tears streaming down his face.It was one of the most emotionally powerful moments I've ever seen.Still gives me chills.I am a Sevendust fan for life.
quite simply one of the most breathaking songs ever written...the build-up, the notes, everything...it's perfect, and in my opinion a great tribute song for any male who's ever passed away..much love to Sevendust (L)
I argued with a family member today over Sevendust. My opinion was the that Sevendust have actually put passion into their music and not been altered by record companies and not made cocky like other bands or Artists. His argument was that they weren't popular. My statement showed that they aren't alter, they're not changed. Sevendust show the passion that is needed in music. Nothing can compare to them... Lajon (lead singer) even cries in one of his videos. Now tell me, isn't that passion?
Great band, great song, great music video. Gotta love this band; great vocals and great performance. Great set up with all of the percussion instruments.
This is how we should remember our departed family and friends. I can barely get through this song without crying because it speaks so much for me.Much respect for Sevendust.
i cant remember the last time i cried about anything. this song reached into a part of my soul and ripped at me till tears burst from my eyes. I always listen to it when i need to feel like im alive again.
Love love love Lajon. I was lucky enough to spend some time with him when he played at Rockfest In Oregon. Beautiful voice, such a talent and an amazing human.
THIS IS THE BEST TRIBUTE SONG EVER!!!! And for all the people who think this is sevendust, it's just the lead singer. The rest of the band are people from other bands paying tribute. R.I.P.
Sevendust rocks! This is from the "Animosity" album. Saw them 5 or 6 years ago first time and they rocked the house with this one. If you havent seen them in concert.........GO!
I love when Clint and Lajon share the vocal parts. Clint has an awesome voice and he only really shows it on the softer songs like this and also on X-Mas Day and Skeleton Song.
They played this son at one of my best friends' funerals. To this day it makey me cry a little. But now matter what..I love this song. It's a beautiful tribute to someone they obviously considered a brother.
Everytime I hear this song I think of my Dad and miss him very much. This is the best song ive found that suits how me and my friends miss him and cared about him. Awesome Band and Beautiful song
They just played Augusta, GA on the 11th of this month. He and the rest of the band are still in great shape. I can't wait for them to come back by here.
By far, the best video Sevendust has ever put out. I only wish I knew who directed it. It captures everything the band tried to represent with the song in dedication to Lynn. Fantastic job.
Idk man....Sevendust is a GREAT band. They deserve ALL of the best. And I believe "Animosity" is one of the most underrated albums EVER. So amazing, I'd literally put it in my top 10 favorite albums of all time.
we played this song at my friends funeral and everyone there was amazed. this song says so much about life. even the elderly people were amazed by it.{ r.i.p. chris }
sevendust is very popular, but in strange places. They've been around for a pretty long time, plus they have .... a lot of cds out. Been lucky enough to see them live twice, almost saw them a 3rd time. They put on a great show. Lotta respect for sevendust and all they've done
Angel's Son is a single written by Lajon Witherspoon of Sevendust and ex-Snot band member (now ex-Sevendust guitarist) Sonny Mayo and performed by Witherspoon and two fellow Sevendust members (drummer Morgan Rose and guitarist/vocalist Clint Lowery), for the post-mortem compilation CD in honor of James Lynn Strait known as Strait Up[1]. This was the only single track from the tribute album.
the topic at hand was the singer is one of the more talented black singers in the industry, and theres not that many. And I realize who its about, thank you.
Whenever I hear this song I always imagine sitting on a park bench before sunrise. I'm slowly feeling the sensation of the cold rushing across my skin. In the horizon is the break of dawn and the light rushes in and fills the park with warmth and life. I feel the warmth brush pleasantly across my skin and I stand up, look up, close my eyes and give a small smile. This song makes me feel revived and renewed, much like the first rays of Sunlight on my skin. Such an amazing song. Great band! :D
this is one of the most touching songs i have ever heard, literally every time i hear it it makes me tear up. sorry but, anyone who dislikes this, has no heart.
GOD... I friggin' Love... this darn song... WoW... SevenDust looks nothing how i imagined... and i didn't think there was that many of them...theres like at least 7 of 'em... Well they look kool... This song is DEF kool and yeah ... his voice is ridiculously grreat!... "I Can't Go On..."
this song is so marvelous and this video sends me chills every single time they are the best band ever, lynn strait was a great human being and God rest his soul great song
i was a fun of the band since they did the cover for smackdown vs raw but then i learned about this song.I really respect and admire them for this.Sevendust is not a regular band
"Black" off of their first CD is one of their best...although, everything that they do is brilliant. It was the first song I ever heard by them and still one of my faves!!!
I had somber eyes through the first part of it, but when the loved one came rushing in and I saw the chief doctor looking at the wallet picture and sees her waiting there, the tears started flowing.
lynn strait was the lead singer of snot. he died in a car accident. this song was originally written for the album "strait up" and included lajon, clint, and morgan, and sevendust later included it on their album "animosity". very amazing song indeed. very moving.
I consider myself a manly man, I like beer, women, the outdoors and being a foundation for other to build off of...but I can bow down to the sympathetic side of meat times and this one does it for me.. I love this song, it fills me with so many emotions that I can't even begin to describe. Love sevendust
it is dedicated to Lynn, from snot, but after this was released, I saw them in concert,(7dust) and they dedicated this to Joe C, as well, was touching, very touching song, again beautiful, makes ya misty eyed.
Amazing song...they are one of the all time killer Metal Bands. I would love to see them receive the success and fame they so richly deserve...probably not in this lifetime...considering how much the mindless masses love to listen to all the shit that passes for music these days! What a shame... Please keep rocking 7D...
Great song by a great band. I have seen Sevendust 4 times and they just get better and better. Wish they would bring the trampolines back to the show. It was bitchin watching them jam and jumping across stage.
this song means alot, I like this video better then the beach one. My son died in a car wreck a couple years ago. this shows some of the events and feelings we went through.
im happy for u man always keep god in ur heart wish it was the same for my grandfather. i miss u grandpa no1 else can give me wat u gave me love u and i will see u again 1 day
Awesome...no prob man. I've heard of Sevendust back in 2001 but just NOW got into them after listening to "Driven" on the radio 2 years ago...really great band and even though they're not mainstream, I'm sure they have a shit load of fans to support them. They have my respect and money ...lol well not all my money.
@stiimuli Lajon, the singer, wrote the song shortly after his daughter was born. Somehow his daughter being born coincided with the day James Lynn Strait (who the is written about) died. I'm not sure if he died the same day she was born or shortly after. But basically he's saying "I have a daughter now that is my life, now that you're gone. And I miss you but there's nothing I can do about it."
This is a beautiful song, both version are amazing, both singers sound amazing together, got to see sevendust do this live, it right after kid rocks side kick died, was it Joe C? They dedicated this to him, very touching, a touching song, very powerful

Sends shivers down my spine every time I hear it. And the video is excellent too. Great tribute to Lynn.
This song gives me shivers down my spine, and brings tears to my eyes. Yet another masterpiece from Sevendust
i cant remember the last time i cried about anything. this song reached into a part of my soul and ripped at me till tears burst from my eyes. I always listen to it when i need to feel like im alive again.
Love this song. Very few metal bands can pull off such a deep and powerful song. Especially with the great vocal range. Sevendust rocks!!!
Love Sevendust

blew Disturbed off the stage
Awesome tune, really shows that Sevendust are great songwriters.
Love love love Lajon. I was lucky enough to spend some time with him when he played at Rockfest In Oregon. Beautiful voice, such a talent and an amazing human.
Why this band is not much bigger is beyond me. They are amazing and each album gets better and more mature sounding. They rock.
I never tire of Sevendust!! You guys are sooo versatile. You rock my soul.

This is very amazing. Lynn was a great guy. and he will always be in our hearts.
My mom was a huge country music fan, but she LOVED this song. I wish I could have played this at her funeral.
They just played Augusta, GA on the 11th of this month. He and the rest of the band are still in great shape. I can't wait for them to come back by here.

Idk man....Sevendust is a GREAT band. They deserve ALL of the best. And I believe "Animosity" is one of the most underrated albums EVER. So amazing, I'd literally put it in my top 10 favorite albums of all time.

This is perhaps the most beautiful song I have ever heard in rock/metal.

One hell of an under rated band :'(
Sevendust deserve a shitload more credit than they're getting.
What a voice!

i was a fun of the band since they did the cover for smackdown vs raw but then i learned about this song.I really respect and admire them for this.Sevendust is not a regular band
lajon has the most beautiful hard rock voice EVER!!!!, so much guttural soul. rock is in desperate need of more singers like him.
angels son was the first sevendust song i ever heard, they are awesome. this version is the best.
Is it an overstatement to suggest, that this is one of the greatest rock-songs of all-time?
"Black" off of their first CD is one of their best...although, everything that they do is brilliant.
It was the first song I ever heard by them and still one of my faves!!!
I had somber eyes through the first part of it, but when the loved one came rushing in and I saw the chief doctor looking at the wallet picture and sees her waiting there, the tears started flowing.
In lovin' memory for one of my best friends. God bless you dude, rest in peace man.
Next to Broken Down, this is my fave Sevendust song. Quality stuff!
lynn strait was the lead singer of snot. he died in a car accident. this song was originally written for the album "strait up" and included lajon, clint, and morgan, and sevendust later included it on their album "animosity".
