Excellent demo. For me, the most valuable takeaway is the example of your workflow - which is enhanced greatly by an obviously well-organized template and instant recall of the entire system. Congrats on your success!
Great stuff Zach! This theme is one of my favourites, and it seems to me that it doesn't get as much love as other Star Wars themes, and it should, as it is truly beautiful. Congrats on KFP by the way!
Not only was it super informative and helpful to see your process, it was also to the point and clearly laid out. Definitely gonna check out some more of your videos!
Your Williams-esque composition sounds just like the jazz standard “How High the Moon”! That’s not a bad thing. I love the way John Williams incorporates the harmonies of classic jazz ballads into this sort of Wagnerian orchestration. But as soon as you started composing I thought, “I know that tune!”
incredible man. thank you so much for that content. it shows how important the craft of piano playing is also to execute ideas so accurately and quickly, respect!
Great stuff man! I'm working on a similar romantic theme and I was looking for some ideas on how to flesh out the orchestration, and you've given me plenty. Many thanks! Gonna pick up that harp as well 😉
Awesome video ! One question : can we use your breath controller to automate the dynamics after recording a melody on a midi track, or does it only work playing live ? Thank you !
I recently found your channel and i have been binging your content. Thank you for the value you are providing. But I really just wanted to congratulate you on the Kung Fu Panda gig. Very happy for you ❤
Awesome video again Zach!! Really liked the fact that you explained the harmony briefly :) And congrats again on your Kung Fu Panda gig! Thats just unbelievable😍
nice video, showing how actually not so complicated JWs music is but yet super hard to imitate - your version is nice but lacks that unique Williamsism in the end. It is really crazy how it works.
Wonderfull Zach. I enjoyed watching as always. I just got the same breath controler that yours. I am amazed how long you keep your breathing, i get out of air very fasr :{ I wonder if you can give me a tip to set up the BC In a way that i can keep my breath longer 😂
Thank you! You can adjust the nozzle on the side so less air is expelled, or use the software that comes with it to change the modulation sensitivity :)
If you guys are willing to go the extra mile, I highly reccomend trying out an EWI or similar for the winds, it's tricky at first but works wonders, specially with stuff like SWAM
Honestly I'd just save for Cinematic Studio stuff--for me there's nothing like it, and they offer large loyalty discounts once you own other libraries in their collection (I think $100 off each new VST!)
Oh. Hey... So I noticed that oftentimes you’ll have notes that don't start at the beginning of or resolve at the end of a bar but continue into the next bar. I find that I seem to try and stay within either 4, 8, or 16 bars. Does that really matter? Hope that makes sense 🤔.
Generally if you can break up the rhythms of your music to not ALWAYS start on beat 1, it helps to offer some interest and variety to your music. Same goes for extending melodies through measures, or delaying resolutions. If you struggle with that, try pretending that the measures don't exist... write a piece as if there's no time signature, and see how that influences your music :)
best star wars theme, real talk

Hey thanks man!! Dude it's a game changer, I hate drawing things 😂
Could you do bolero score study?
Cool suggestion! Will keep it on the potential list!
Great video Zach! Can you recommend any alternative to Cinematic Studio which are a lower price point and still decent quality?
Honestly I'd just save for Cinematic Studio stuff--for me there's nothing like it, and they offer large loyalty discounts once you own other libraries in their collection (I think $100 off each new VST!)
