I’ve got a 12 year old Yaris like this and apart from tyres and a battery (at 11 years of age) it’s been faultless and no unscheduled spend but regular maintenance. As exciting as a domestic appliance but utterly dependable and safe family transport.
I got a 2012 ford focus with 87,000 kilometers and it has had the electric power steering fail needing a new steering rack, then the heater core failed which will need the dash removed to replace. the camshaft position sensor has been replaced and water was leaking inside the rear hatch compartment. I would love to have a yaris that is dependable with low running cost compared to this crapbox
I got a 2010 Toyota Yaris with 250,000 miles for 1000$ in California been driving it for a year now no problems at all only because it is manual tho I do believe if it was auto the transmission would of went out years ago
Excellent video. My sister has a '10 plate Yaris 1.3 TR, in Decuma Grey, 64000 miles. Nothing has ever gone wrong with it. It's still a really nice-looking car. Highly recommended.
My mum had one of these cars on an 08 plate never broke down always got through all M-O-T'S . I would recommend keeping it as a curtesy car. Reliable isn't the word I would call them bomb proof . Built to last .
Bought my daughter a 3 yr old ex motability 1.0 krfe engine yaris with 19k on 10 yrs ago. Serviced by me. 60 mpg on a run. Other than service parts and brakes and tyres has needed a back box. Still got it she loves it. No rust drives perfectly. Now at 99k. Gets in and drives that’s what you want imo
Ideal first (or last?) car. Totally undemanding, decent reliability, and economical. Yours came out well after a wash and brush up. Hope you got a decent price.
Oh, almost forgot..., the jack for these is clipped under the front passenger seat. ( at least it is on the 3 door ). I've just realised who you are/were. 20 years ago, round about this time of year, I was visiting family in Burnham. My car, a Tipo, expired on me. I went for a walk along the Berrow/Brean direction, and came across your/your predecessors garage. Parked up around the side was a 1988 Maestro Mayfair, 1600cc, priced at £125 .., with 8 months MOT and some tax on it. Can only say that it was 8 months very happy motoring. A revelation to me..., quite brisk, comfortable, and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Bought mine from neighbour 2004 1.0 for £300 Just passed mot for £120 .Plugs, oil filter, air filter and cabin filter for these around £20 easy diy. New keyfob buttons pack of 2 £5. I recently bought a new battery for £40. 45 mpg around town have got 52 motorway driving Cam chain engine, never fails to start some have early satnav. Only small drawback 2 doors are difficult for people to get in and out of but how often do you have 3-4people in a car. They can suffer from condensation in headlight unit just need to improve air circulation . Easy to drive, park, maintain, and cheap to own .
In my family we have 3 2010 1litre 5 door Yaris, they are genuinely excellent, such cheap runabouts, lots of interior space, £30 tax, cheap insurance, and was perfect for all of me and my brother's to learn to drive in. Excellent cars.
These second generation Yaris's aren't quite as good a quality than the Mk1 Japanese built cars - but overall they are still in another league compared to others as reliable cheap runaround. Worn timing chains are only an issue if it hasn't had regular oil changes, Catalysts can wear along with oxygen sensors and rusty suspension components can spoil the party. But for a quick clean, headlamp buff and service - this looks like a very tidy car for someone. 👍
If the oil has been changed frequently there's no need to worry with the timing chain, but using decent oil frequently the chain can last 200,000m..if it's not been thrashed.
My old banger a 2007 1.1 Colt by Mitsubishi has 130 thousand miles on the clock , original clutch gearbox and timing chain still gets me around no problems , only burns a little oil each month due to age of it and the Chain is a bit slack as i can feel sometimes the engine struggles to accelerate but im not paying £350 to change the chain on a car thats worth £500 at best
i got a 3 door 2011 plate yaris it has 191000klms here in australia and a 1.3l 5-speed manual but they all suffer with bonnet and roof paint fade over time its a toyota thing they are great cars
I’ve always liked the Yaris it’s a good looking car (when it’s looked after) they’re great little run arounds and never seem to cause many issues I would totally buy one, especially this one, if I was in the market for one
Had a 2004 MK1 1.3 with 242K on it and had literally one clutch change @ 69K and still ran perfectly until some scumbag stole it for scrap brilliant machines made to last very rare nowadays
As a student in 2005 I bought a beyond revolting 1992 plate car off an old man. The car was caked in mud from a festival his grandson had taken it to. It cost £210, it was filthy. I jet washed and steam cleaned it, it had a year MOT, tax disc, 4 new tyres and got me through uni and beyond and I miss it to this day! I needed a car as I had no family in the country and expected it to do me 6 months max. It did me 4 years and went abroad to visit family, and I only got rid because someone rear ended me. I loved that car so much. This car will do someone well and good. :-)
I got one for £1500 in 2022, 26, 000 miles. Mint condition. Year 1999. Only regret is not ULEZ compatible. But in terms of car security, I;ve struck gold. i change the oil every 3000 miles because I know I'll never get a bargain like this again. It's my FU car. I can muck about with whatever second car I want, secure on the knowledge I'll always have a working car.
I have a Toyota Yaris just like it but the 2009 D4D Diesel engine 1ndtv restyling with DPF filter gives me a lot of problems. I do not recommend the Diesel model with DPF filter
FWIW I'd get a genuine wheeltrim from a breaker/ebay, for what little they cost, rather than fit a set of aftermarket ones since it suggests the car might have had less abuse by the previous owner.
Normally I prefer to go standard but I wanted to ‘tart up’ this one on the same day. I don’t think it matters much (or gets noticed) by most buyers at this sort of price range though
Did I say otherwise? I can’t remember! The only experience I have with them is the dozen or so I’ve bought and sold over the years and I’m sure at least a couple had stretched timing chain issues, no major issues other than that 🤷♂️
My OH usually advertises them via Facebook marketplace currently but the plan is to set up a website etc soon, as people often ask us for cheaper cars and I can’t give them a link to them all in one place
New set number plates. Muchos Caring fellow trader. Make a nice car. Nice again. Oh and a double up 2250 back in. Too easy. Owt can be tidied a wreck buffed later went to 1500 from 275 hammer bid. Eve me surprised myself. Took 3 hours with APC inside. Mind.
The part ex depends on the car, some models are easy to sell on and others much more difficult hence good deal or bad deal on the part ex. Definitely as a customer it’s much easy to part ex if getting close to private sale. Had a bmw part ex and garage offered me £5,500 although I could of achieved £6k it was worth the convenience Great vid
Not bad. The Toyota dealer is trying to offer us £3300 PX on a yaris we have in the family, that autotrader says should be listed for £5500, as a private sale. They've magically now upped it £400 (even though the initial offer was two months ago). FSH, two owner (inc us),HPI clear, almost no marks on body or interior, and purchased from the main dealer when almost new. Might keep it tbh.
I stopped watching this and thought I'd try it one more time, but still the same. Moan, moan, moan. Not a lot of tread on that tyre. Maybe 6mm. It's only 8.5mm or so new 🙄

I got a Mazda premacy 2004 Has broken minor radio can't work Need fix little bit
A Kia Rio Suzuki collaboration. Reliable, Comfy, And looks good.
I got a 2010 Toyota Yaris with 250,000 miles for 1000$ in California been driving it for a year now no problems at all only because it is manual tho I do believe if it was auto the transmission would of went out years ago
Thanks for the info.@@deeandkids9250
Love the Toyota Yaris. I own a 1.3L 2000 model and it’s absolutely great. Hasn’t caused me any major issues at all. These cars are built to last.

I got an 02 reg Yaris with a whole 40k on it. Loved the speedo arrangement and it was just so unbelievably reliable!
Bought my daughter a 3 yr old ex motability 1.0 krfe engine yaris with 19k on 10 yrs ago. Serviced by me. 60 mpg on a run. Other than service parts and brakes and tyres has needed a back box. Yaris is a good all around beater car.. cheap and cheap to use.. better than any citroen
I have a 17 year old 3dr Yaris 1.0 litre bought it with f.s.h. and 87000 on the clock last August. It runs well
any update

£300 quid? That's a bargain...they around £1500 for half decent ones

FD reg prefix suggests it was supplied from the East Midlands. Bet the previous owner will regret going French after a time in the Yaris?
Had a 2004 MK1 1.3 with 242K on it and had literally one clutch change @ 69K and still ran perfectly until some scumbag stole it for scrap brilliant machines made to last very rare nowadays

Have a look under the back of the front passenger seat for the jack
".... not a huge amount of tread......, 6mm maybe..". Uh.., what planet are you on ?
Tyres only start with 7 or 8 mm when brand new.
i see a lot of dealers trying to find cheap old cars but its getting harder
In my country this same car cost like 15,000 - 20,000 $
I got one for £1500 in 2022, 26, 000 miles. Mint condition. Year 1999. Only regret is not ULEZ compatible. Good stuff keep up the awesome work
in Italy, this car would ask for 4000 Euros!
Great transformation! Made the car much more attractive!
The Jack on these cars is sometimes under the front passenger seat.
Great work, I like the fact that you do the work yourself unlike that dude from high peak auto channel.
I have a Toyota Yaris just like it but the 2009 D4D Diesel engine 1ndtv restyling with DPF filter gives me a lot of problems. I do not recommend the Diesel model with DPF filter
How you polish the headlights? they look like is brand new!

ideal 1st car for someone!
Pop a bottle of octane booster in the fuel tank, it'll impress on the test drive.
Jack will be under passenger seat in these Yaris’s
Mercedes ML in the back ground is on the wrong plate as it's reg is showing a CLA?
Think the valeter read it wrong when printing new ones (again) I’ll check on Monday 👍
Toyota built tough
Thanks for the video
WOW, what a transformation, Joe no 0.60 drag test?
I’m saving the 0-60s for the more ‘sporty’ cars. I might have to make the 10-70s as well as I’m so bad at launching! 😅
I jist oassed my driving test and i want to buy a royota yaris 2005-6 any1 lmk pls
Sorry but BS on the previous owner saying they cleaned this a day before. This looks like 6 months or more of dirt build up.
Really great cars cheap running around I got a 2015 yaris just oil and filters, front tyres and is driving brilliant just get 30k mile 👍 😊
I've always part xchanged cars it gives the dealer a possible profit & ive had some great deals
Nice one, look great 👍
You dont appear to know much about the Yaris as apart from the clutch they are fairly bullet proof.
Did I say otherwise? I can’t remember! The only experience I have with them is the dozen or so I’ve bought and sold over the years and I’m sure at least a couple had stretched timing chain issues, no major issues other than that 🤷♂️
Can I ask where you advertise your part exchange cars
My OH usually advertises them via Facebook marketplace currently but the plan is to set up a website etc soon, as people often ask us for cheaper cars and I can’t give them a link to them all in one place

Why is it kinda not in a good shape even though it had a digital gauge cluster? It surely wasn’t taken care of.
Funny the psychology of people justifying trading in their perfectly good vehicles by letting them look like shit…seen it hundreds of times…

I’m selling for £1700. Any offers?
You need more toyotas, they last forever, soon the only cars that people can still afford to drive on Britsh roads will be toyotas
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Buy more toyotas, but don't buy ones. From the current decade 2020s. Cause I'll probably break down.
15 min of Talkin pfff
@@elkoks what were you expecting dickhead, interpretive dance?! 😂

Who's moaning now?! 😂😂
About 4 minutes of this was slightly useful.
It wasn’t really my intention to be useful so that’s good 👍
Do you know how many times you say "eeermm"?
Yes I am, since doing these videos. I’m trying to work on it 😅
