My dad & I have caught 3 swarms with Swarm commander. We put old hives out where we wanted them in the yard & the bees came to us.

Newbie here GREAT INFO wish I had found this in Feb. Was given some empty hives past winter too cheap to buy nucs or packages so went with swarm trapping. Since didn't have bees used the 12 deep boxes as traps after I begged 2 friends for 9 frames of old drawn comb. Placed all boxes in old hang or short ladder stands on tree stands from the back of my pickup. Caught 5th swarm to box today 3 in box 2 on boxes also got 1 football size swarm on a branch so have 6 hives started since Easter Sunday. Swarm Commander used with 5 or 6 empty old frames no foundation and 2 or 3 frames of used plastic foundation that smell of bees real good some were old supers frames. Just kept bees in that deep trap and moved to my yard. Picked up some real good pointers here and will make adjustments especially adding a frame of brood asap even tho only have 1 hive that is filled out a10 frame deep.

@@DonPlier better than a nearby planet, I'm from Missouri!! I might have been a little pizzy when I commented that. If you catch enough swarms to make it worth the effort then good for you. Suppose it's the difference between fishing and catching.
Missouri?!! There’s Lots of bees in Mo. If you look up your neighbor Dr. Leo Shaarhkin, in southern MO. He has cought 3 or more swarms in several of his bait hives Each Year for Many years. I call that catching.

He’s all over UA-cam. Has been for years. Has a doctorate in forestry . Went to Mazoo or missou. Born and raised 200 miles east of Moscow, Russia. Uses and sells mostly Leyden’s hives. A chance for you to learn a Lot. D
