We were friends with a couple whose marraige was exactly like this. In the end he left his wife of 36 years, for another woman. He drove his children away. His eldest son commited suicide, her daughter cut ties with him and his blue eyed boy left and changed his name. For guys like this, the only thing that matters, are themselves.

He treats her like a servant, not a wife. Yet doesn't servant get a salary. She works for free, yet has no freedom whatsoever. I can guarantee you that he will not help his wife around the house the way he says. Didn't he just say that it is a woman's job to clean the house? Even if she does everything he says, I doubt he appreciates what she does, he enjoys talking down to her. The reason he does not give her an allowance is because she would save some of that money and get out of there. He makes it where she doesn't have the money to do anything with her life, so she is stuck with him ordering her around. He has got to be one of the most toxic men around, a narcissist.

I would have told him to get bent and do it all himself if he didn't like how I do things. I had a husband similar to him. Ive broken glasses out of anger, threw him my rag and told him do it your fn self if you don't like how i do things. He treated me like I was a complete and total idiot and didn't know how to clean even though i cleaned for a living in a hospital and at Walmart. We've been divorced now for a few years now and his onto his next victim to abuse.

If she does, one day she will look back and wonder why she stayed so long but I imagine that it’s very difficult to get out of the bed every morning, knowing you have to deal with that abusive SOB every day. There are organizations for DV that will help her. I hope she tries to get help.

The whole using photos of half naked women as a screensaver with the intention of motivating her to lose weight is incredibly telling. He just automatically believes that she will experience that hurtful moment of seeing the image and think "Ok so i dont want to experience this pain any further, so i guess i better just change to suit his demands so he wont intentionally hurt me like this again." He just assumes that, because he is just so inherently valuable and desireable and important, of course she will be automatically inclined to solve the problem in a way that will please him. He never even considers the other ways she could avoid being hurt by it, such as either ceasing to be interested in his happiness or satisfaction and withdrawing, numbing herself out and finding false fulfillment by engaging in even more destructive eating habits or some other addiction like process, or by simply removing herself from the situations entirely and divorcing him.

I had a guy tell me that on my days off I can do the cooking for the wk (he was off work by 3, I worked til 6)& take care of the house. He said he would take care of the cars. I said u don't think I can drive to a dealership? I also said I'm not a maid u can stay in ur house & I'll stay in mine. Needless to say we're no longer together
