Welcome to the bag making rabbit hole! GREAT CHOICE on your machine. I love my Juki! Be sure to look up Sew Sweetness, Linds Handmade, Spencer Ogg, Lauren Mormino, and OKLAROOTS. These are some talented bag making ladies that make videos along with their patterns. Have fun!
I have that same Juki and love it! I’ve also purchased vinyl and other fabric from Hi Fashion Fabric. I haven’t sewn anything up in the vinyl yet, but you’ve definitely inspired me. Your makes and fabric combinations are lovely. I live in Vacaville and wish, for garment sewing, we had more fabric store selections closer. Happy sewing!
Hi Renee, Isn’t that a fun store!! Yes! I do wish there were lots more options. I’m so happy to hear that you live your machine. I’m excited to put line to work!! Hugs 🥰
Congratulations on your new machine! I love your new backpack purse! So pretty and practical!!!😍💗Pedicures and Brunch! How wonderful!!! Your granddaughter is so creative!💗🥰
Stephanie, I love you so much! I said I wanted you to make another purse in last week's comment and you did thank you, it is another hobby we have in common I have made tote bags and purses for several years now. I also love the hobby of collecting supplies. Stephanie, Temu has bag-making supplies most of my supplies came from hobby lobby or Amazon and I have so many patterns. I am so happy we share the same hobbies.
I have the Juki 1181n and I absolutely love it. The industrial does require its own table so that’s a bummer. I’m a huge bag maker and I’d like to share a tip - do NOT use the fusible foam as it causes wrinkles when you birth the bag. I use bosal, by Annie’s, and Pellon flex foam. A lot of my bag making online friends are using your Juki and they love it. I use alcohol wipe pads to take the glue/adhesive off the needle and it works like a charm. Have fun!!!
I just bought a Juki 1541s. Walking foot. LOVE IT. Made outdoor slings for my furniture and am using it for drapery projects. Hubby is going to use it to learn leather crafting (belts/wallets). Love that it’s adjustable on the speed and is a flat bed.
I love your dress fabric. Great idea to cut off into a top. I buy a lot of my purse fabric from estate sales. I found that the “old” machine hold up better on heavy fabrics and layers. Have a fabulous Mothers Day!! 🫶🏼🤠🙏😎🌵💐👸
Hi Karen, I agree! I think my old featherweight would sew anything!! I’d get it back if my daughter would part with it, lol. I love the estate idea! And thrift stores. Happy Mother’s Day! 🥰🥰🥰
Hi Stephanie, welcome to the Juki club! I have a small length of wax cotton and also a goat skin which I feel I need to make into a bag but I’m never sure what to do with it. I’ll be keeping an eye on what you make!
I was in my local quilt shop this week. She makes lots of different bags there using cork, vinyl and fabrics. She was using a Teflon sheet between the machine and vinyl to keep it from sticking to the machine. Not under the feed dogs but up to. I thought it was a brilliant idea. Teflon sheets are more typically used in applique quilting. She had iridescent clear vinyl in here bag.
I actually went on a search for waterproof non vinyl to make a crossbody bag to copy. I bought some outdoor patio cushion replacement fabric. Very tight weave avail in gorgeous colors. I ended up with a turquoise teal. Haven't made the bag yet.
Happy Mother's Day Weekend 😊 Love the bag.. I have quite a bit of outdoor fabric ready to make some bags.. but I hadn't thought much about vinyl.. may need to add that to my stash .. Have you looked at the new Ellie and Mac bag? it looks interesting...
There is a product called Flex foam that is a very thin foam product that is used to make bags look more structured. I think it’s just what you want. A brand name is Bosal that makes In-R-Form which is similar but with an adhesive side.
Amazon is much cheaper for the d rings and swivel hooks! I always get them on there. Many of them come in variety of finishes and colors in one package
Don’t forget to take your sample ring with you when you go back to just get $63 dollars worth so you don’t buy duplicates- lol Maybe make something for hubby with your scraps....lens case? Or rut row you could make his favorite hat...wouldn’t that be ambitious, with matching vinyl brim? The possibilities are endless - lol
I really like the colors in the dress you’re wearing. Those colors are perfect for you. However, to my eye, there is too much fabric in the shoulder/sleeve area and that may be why you don’t like it. The bust also looks too big because of the bow. I would try making it truly sleeveless and taking in the bust. IMHO.
@@FarrellFocus I HAD TO GO BACK TO ONE OF MY OLD VIEOS TO FIND YOU. I AM NOW SUBBED TO THIS CHANNEL OF YOURS. I HOPE THAT YOUA RE DOING WELL. Thanks Mary!! I will check out Temu. It’s so nice to have what you need when you need it, right?
Hugs 🥰🥰🥰
The black and ivory set off the print really well, I have been going back and forth on that pattern, I like how "slim" it is. Beautiful work

Hold on tight! Bag making is a slippery slope!!😂
Lol! I’m sure your right Debbie. At least a purse ALWAYS fits. 🤪😂🤣

So far, that’s where I got my hardware. I’m getting lots of other sources in these comments. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I had to chuckle a little when you said you got a new machine!
Lol. I don’t have any room for more!! 🫣😳🤣

I have the same machine juki tl 18 QVP and l love it… 🥰
Yay!! Thanks Jane! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I’m like you about the fabric I wear.

Thanks Linda! I agree there are fit issues. I’ll have to take a look at it. I think it would be better sleeveless. 🤷🏼♀️ 🥰
