- The Xbox showcase today was absolutely stacked with games like Fable, Call of Duty, Doom, Gears of War, Perfect Dark, Indiana Jones, Avowed, and so much more, as well as some hardware news with some new Series X and S models. As full as it was though, I do have some questions about the future of Xbox.

This is the best showcase in the last 5 years. Why are people trying to downplay it by comparing to this years Game Fest and State of Play. Sony, Nintendo and Geoff have not put out anything half this good in 5 years. This was sensational!
The BEST show they’ve ever had imo. Yes some stuff still didn’t have dates and yes a good chunk is slated for next year but the future is looking bright and I’m here for it!

Easily the best game showcase to beat this year. I honestly find it weird for some folks putting awkward effort to downplay how great the showcase was.

Xbox are riding a lot of bad PR so a lot of people are rightfully down on the brand in general. If the studio closures didn't happen I reckon there wouldn't be as much negative sentiment.

I feel you. During the stream there was a bunch of people spamming "L" on every gameplay footage and writing stuff like 1/10 or something ridiculous.
If you ask me, that's the greatest form of flattery if people from another platform feel the urge to come and try and make Xbox's show look like bad.
That just signals they're envious and don't want people to enjoy it.
I really don't get why so many people want a Sony monopoly after how they're treating their customers (their backwards compatibility isn't on par, they charge money for certain upgrades from PS4 to PS5 on games and charge money for online cloud saves...). But people just seem to take it with a smile.
It was great. Lots to show. Though I'm personally interested in about as many games that I'm interested in from the state of play and that was Sonys entire show minus 1 garbage weebo game.
This is the bar but if Nintendo has enough surprises like a Prime 4 gameplay reveal it's over for everybody lol

only problem i saw is no release dates for actual xbox only titles, then most of the stuff shown is on ps5 too. so its a little misleading, but sony does the same.

The straight cramped streets they showed feel just like the original Perfect Dark.

Expedition 33 looks incredible. Always a pleasure to see a new IP get such a nice production value. Especially a turn based RPG!

Yeah. I want to see more, but for some of us, who have gamed for long enough and can tell the movement and feel of a game by seeing camera motion and character movement, the only thing we don't know is if there are different methods of attacking. Previous fable you had the 3 buttons for melee, magic and guns. Its likely the same but we'll see.
What I am confident on, based on the footage, is how the character controls. Your brain can kind of tell the same way you know what a surface would taste like on your tongue even if you haven't actually licked it before. I've not been wrong yet about my pre-game expectations and what I then get in my hands. Unless this footage isn't actually in game, but then why say it was, that'd be them shooting themselves in the foot.
As a Playstation fan boy, I'm glad to see XBOX showing that they still have some juice in the tank, studio closures aside

I'm surprised they are even putting out newer versions of the current consoles. With them not have Xbox exclusives anymore (for the most part) and everything going to gamepass day 1,just go ahead and tap out of the console game and go 3rd party

Okay, just saying it wasn't the industry who said they need to make more games like the acclaimed one that came out of the studio they just close. But yes, it is sadly an industry-wide problem including Sony, Xbox just felt like they fumbled it with their PR and closing some very renowned studios after spending billions of dollars to aquire them, or at least partly them

Easily best show of the year so far maybe one of the best of all time also Xbox did release console pricing 449 for XSX dig. 349 for XSS 1TB AND 599 FOR XSX Galaxy 2TB (too much even considering 1 TB is 99 to 149) still they could've eaten the 50 for easy pricing sake sounded like design lab options will be added for console as well as controllers

@andrewjazdzyk1215 1 tb I mean is 99 on sale and 149 reg finally it already comes with 1TB so if you don't care about discs u could get the XSX Digital and the 1TB expansion for the same price my point is you shouldn't be able to do it for the price they offer it at get me

@andrewjazdzyk1215 western digital has recertified for $119 and customer service told me that means new memory chip so basically new with some scratches I bought one time will tell
@@DyeHard79 The price is also accounting for this being a limited/special edition right? I think its too expensive but I understand their strategy: You aren't just buying a current SX with more storage. And if a customer was to think the 2TB is too much, they can still do what you have suggested, and MS get a new customer regardless.
Xbox always does well with showcases, Hopefully these games do well

The Initiative w/ Perfect Dark
Undead w/ State of Decay 3
Compulsion w/ South of Midnight
All that’s left now is Rare w/ Everwild and I expect maybe this Holiday or next year before Double Fine annonces something new.
Showcase was great and yet there are games that we haven't seen.
The showcase was awesome, but Microsoft also showed something completely different for Redfall than what was delivered, including delays.
If any of these games are delayed we are looking about a year before this generation is over.
Looking at this re-cap and rethinking about it. Yes, it's the best show they have ever had... and the really really needed to nail this one. Good for them, and us.
I was at the showcase in la it was awesome we got free jackets and hats including breakfast and lunch! had a blast

I thought it was really good. This and the wholesome indie games showcase has restored my faith in actually having something to play over the next 2 years. Because for some reason I instantly forgot everything I saw in the Summer Game Fest, because barely anything interested me, and that Sony State of Play was only good because of Astro Bot and one of the VR games. I own every console so I'm so invested I need games to make these things feel worthwhile and PS I don't have anything beyond Astro bot I am even anticipating that isn't cross platform.
MS ignored commenting on the layoffs, but I wasn't impressed by Summer Game Fest basically doing the same thing except for that ineffectual line from Keighley with the rather noticeable "BUT" in the middle of it.
Xbox was successful in the fact that even their CGI trailers had personality to them that go me interested in seeing more, but Summer Game Fest felt like most of their CGI only trailers were mediocre at best.
Fable was nice to see more of. Perfect Dark actually looked good despite rumours of troubled development, and I was thrilled ot see Deck 9 get another go at Life is Strange with Max no less. I take it dontnod have just abandoned that series after Life is Strange 2 was so awful.
Doom TDA looks amazing
The 2TB Special Edition is just the Halo Edition w/o Halo stickers. Same glitter effects on that Edition. And I already have a 8TB external.
They did show gameplay for Fable, and it wasn't a CG trailer for Gears, this is real time in engine as pointed out to Geoff Keighley, the game will look like that in real time.
And the thing that I find is annoying with xbox is everyone putting them towards dates especially as they are giving studios time to deliver, so things may slip and everyone attacks them for missing dates. So don't set dates, tell people when they are ready to put them out because then they aren't putting pressure on the studios or their marketing. This was a great showing and as a gamer it spoke to me directly.
I was waiting for the announcement of fh6, did not happen, as well as a handheld console 😢😭 but the overall showcase was incredible! And with a lot of surprises, some of them like perfect dark and damn that game Frag Punk looks like a lot of fun.

I just bought a Series S and I’m really enjoying it as a second system, but sometimes I can feel its reduced power compared to Series X and PS5… Do you think with all this games coming the Series S will deliver a good experience?

We did get pricing for the new Xboxes it's $450 for normal Series X, $600 for the 2TB
The problem is that you can already get the X with disk drive for $450 or even $420 new at retailers.

9:30 Pricing is literally posted on their website rn. $449 for the current and digital model. The 2T is $599.

Doom Dark Age's id tech 7 can run on a ti-86 calculator, it's _that_ efficient, don't know why more companies don't license it over UE4/5 or Unity//

I will say, I wish sony would also do a big show.
I loved their show also but at the same time still feel like I got nothing truly great to play any time soon. So hopefully they start pushing some of these games out and they are ready for release and not buggy messes.
Very true. We have a lot to look forward to, but it would be nice if we got some games a little sooner to also lessen how big the backlog is about to be lol.

I get people hate gamepass but here me out. I'm a casual. I play a few hours a week. Back in April I started diablo 4, finished it in May. Start immortal of Aveums, was loving it with the FSR boost but won't finish it cuz Octopath Travellers 2 is out. Bit now I'm thinking I want to play Starfield after seeing the Shatters Space dlc n knowing it got a big update recently. That carry me to July where I'll jump into Flintlock, then I get Stalker 2 in September, and the Diablo 4 expansion in October. In between there there's Shatter Space I assume n then I end the year with CoD, Avowed, Towerborne and Indy. That doesn't even include the random 3rd party drops we get on gamepass every month. For the 3-5 hours I game every week it's an incredible deal.

I think it looked like a great lineup of games. But at this point, there’s not much Xbox can do to get me really hyped for their ads; I’ve been burned too many times. I need to examine these games after they’re released to determine how interested I am in them.

As a PlayStation fan I’m happy af for a new Gears game, one of the few franchises I like from Xbox
It's weird to me that the digital X is the same price as the disk X (at least right now on the xbox site). The only real reason to get the digital X is if you're dead set on wanting a white variant and know you'll never even bother with using disks

I Liked the seamless gaming iteration presentation, but the roster was just okay okay. I guess I was hoping for something new or refreshing like say......QUAKE 1 reimagined, a true 3d D&D rpg game that is actually good. Instead of a gears game, how about a new IP that involves platforming, but again high quality. The imagination has no limit and while establishing old franchises can be healthy and profitable there needs to be unique introduction to never seen before IP material.
Just hate that state of decay 3 was the only damn game with no glimmer of a release date... and quite literally only game i cared about.
I’m getting bad vibes from Fable and Dragon Age. Doom looked great. South of Midnight looks interesting. I was really hoping to see Vicarious Visions reform and announce THPS 3+4.

The sheer quantity at this showcase was impressive. It definitely beat Sonys State of Play as Sony must still be working on things behind the scenes.
When it comes to length and games I am interested in, they came out about even as there was only 1 title I said no to in the State of Play which was Weebo trash but Concord looks very solid. Better than any of these other 5v5 shooters I have seen including that Punk FPS Microsoft showed off.
The other thing is Sony Finally has me wanting VR2 bc it will also work on PC soon.
Microsoft had a lot of filler. Games like WoW felt generic with a lot of its designs. That Moonlight game looks cool but un inspired like they were just checking boxes tbh.
Perfect Dark doesnt even seem like perfect dark...like at all. Too serious while the godfather of the series had prudently placed comic relief.
State of Decay 3 suffers the same way the others did. It lacks identity. Id much rather play tlou part 1 and 2, Days Gone and Dead Island 2 than any of those games.
Gears looks cool but I hope it isnt just relying on nostalgia. Without Cliff Blezinski at the helm these games have lost their charge. 4 was ok but still very disappointing and 5 took me too long to get into mind you I heard good things so I need to get back in.
Only games I am really looking forward are CoD BLOPS 6, Snake Eater, Gears, Perfect Dark, Indiana Jones and maybe a few others but thats about it and so.e of these are coming to PS5 so Sony fans shouldnt be upset. Microsoft can have a win from time to time...more importantly Sony can take an L on the occasion. Cant always win.
Why do people complain when they say 2024 or 2025? I mean if they announce a firm date and then they change it, the same people who complain about no release dates complain about the dates being changed. You can't win. I'm happy they announce what year, gives games coming next year a possible 18 months more to get the game right. And the ones announced for 2024 (Avowed is coming November 12th by the way) will give a release date when they're 100% sure they can release it.

Games not having realise dates 6 months to years before realse is a good thing. Better then stressing devs for exact dates.
I mean...they probably have internal release dates. Just because they didn't show US release dates, doesn't mean there are none.

So, to summarise. Prequels and sequels. That's it. Apart from Indiana Jones. I know which game I will be playing. This company is playing it safe. Like Sony. This is what is happening in the film industry also. Sequels and prequels, and well they are selling far less film tickets! I suspect far less game sales as well.

Nobody needs explicit dates yet.People will play games when they play games. No point disappointing a bunch of people by delays occurring in an industry that has suffered from delays for 50 years. Seems MS is learning.
Also with GTA6 dates being approximately announced, I'm sure none of these devs are ultimately sure when they want stuff to release in 2025 anyway. The 2024 stuff we'll get dates for too. The purpose of these directs are to excite and anticipate, and you don't really need dates to actually do that at this point.
I liked what we saw but I was disappointed. I wanted a new Vegas 2 from obsidian and a fallout 3 remaster. The start of the next elder scrolls…

Honestly, without the name attached, perfect dark looks exactly like every other generic shooter coming out today. I feel like it's got a lot of hype behind it because of the name, but nothing in that trailer stood out to me.
