Hey 👋 I’m not too far from there St Gallen, and I love Appenzell! Hiking there is unbelievable! It’s my favourite destination near here. Thank you so much for your gratitude 🙏 I’m very happy you liked the video.
I grew up in Wolfhalden, AR. at the Kinderheim Morgensonne, in the 1950ies and early 60ies. My first 3 school years were at the Hasli one room schoolhouse, which still stands. My 3rd. grade teacher was Paul Grueninger!!! For those who may not know him... he saved thousands of Jews during WWII. He was a guard on the frontier. Although his story was compelling and tragic in so many ways. After his death he was finally recognized and honored.
@@ATWKate I honestly can’t remember !! It was 1993 when I worked there!! I remember always loving fuchsaker hill above degersheim, but we did walks nearly every day and I can’t remember all their names - Oo seealpsee rings a bell too!!
@@PostcardAndAPint Wow that was a while back, hope you have enjoyed your stay! :) Yes, Seealpsee is beautiful there is a video I did about it in case you are interested it's on the channel, Seealpsee is one of my favourites
Kate, thanks so much for such valuable info. Came here looking where to go to enjoy nature (not a city person). I haven't done much research prior coming to Switzerland and now in Appenzell area. Thanks again.
Hey Julia! I’m so happy to hear my video was of help you! Appenzell is stunning especially the Alpstein it’s very close to Appenzell and these are some of the most impressive hiking trails in the country! You can check out Ebenalp it’s one of the trails if you are interested, there is a video on the channel called Ebenalp if you need any tips! Enjoy 😉
@@juliamaksimenko9083 Great happy to hear that, please let me know how it went, and how did you like it? How is Appenzell was it the right choice for you?
@@ATWKate did it yesterday, it was lovely, not too crowded. Pretty steep off and on tho :) I love Appenzell, it's such peaceful place. Probably one of my favorite one just cuz it much quieter than other touristy places. St.gallen is nice too 😍 Appreciate your videos, love your travel spots :)
@@juliamaksimenko9083 Thank you so much, I am sadly not in St Gallen at the momnet otherwise could have had cofee together 😀 I know the best coffeeshot in town, it's called Caffeehaus check it out it close to the old town on Linsebuhlstrasse. Where are you from, if I may ask? Name is suggestive but am not sure 🙂
I have been to canton Appenzell, but haven't visited the town. It looks so pretty. So scenic with all colourful facades. I had no idea about the beer. So cool. :)
Hello Kate! I am planning my solo trip for fall. I am taking a 3 day stopover in Switzerland. I want to enjoy the nature. I can't do too much hiking. Would you recommend Appenzel and seealpsee lake for me?
Hey let me check you need to call to book Appenzell the city itself offers hotels that can be booked online but in the mountains only by calling, I check the maps will get back to you later today 😉
Easy to get to hotel at the start of most hikes Gasthaus Alpenrose 2 stops to Appenzell call to book, in Appenzell I haven’t stayed so can’t recommend, for most famous picturesque one and harder to get to you need to take a cable car is Aescher Wildkirchli. That is the one that is most photographed the hotel in on the cliff
Hello, I have never stayed in the town of Appenzell, but it may make sense there are a few nice hotels there. But you can also stay in the guest houses around the montains, it depends on what you are after if mostly hiking then any available guest house you can book many of them online but pay on the arrival.
Love Appenzell. The whole region is magical. Thanks for sharing, but on the other hand, it will tell the world about it, hence making it too crowded with tourists. Love your videos. Your production value is excellent, and your narration is great.
Thank you very much for your video I really enjoyed it and it was very informative and interesting
Thank you so much 😊 happy you liked it! And thank you for writing and letting me know you did, means a lot 🥰

Thank you so much ☺️ for warm complements and support! It is very encouraging to hear. I love Appenzell myself.
Was your lodging reasonably priced?
Hey ☺️ we didn’t stay over night it was a one day trip but roughly the prices will be at 100$ most basic accommodation.
Not much info here I'm afraid
Sorry you didn’t like it
Hope you will find something better elsewhere
