My 2 cents about what I saw: Hoover should have won 1-0 in regular time. Both teams played very "physical" soccer which at this level is somewhat expected. The penalty given at the 11:53 minute didn't exist, the ref was clearly not in the right position to make the call and the AR should have had a better view, number 12 on Hoover didn't know what happened or why he was booked. This next observation is totally biased due to the fact that the camera was on the Montgomery side and I can't comment on the Hoover side, but these parents were horrible and a clear example of what's wrong with youth sports. Adults yelling at the ref with every call that went against them, yelling when the other team was fouled, and they even chanted a homophobic slur when the keeper took a free kick at 13:26 and people laughing afterwards. Coaching staffs should really focus on this in any youth sport as it adds pressure to the kids and fuels their aggression at times. But again, who knows what the other side was saying. That was a good game. Contrary to what all the parents were saying I thought the referee did a good job. Clearly this was an important game to both teams. Both teams were skilled, very physical, and in it to win. Great job to both teams. As usual, great job with the videography.

I love watching soccer in general and its cool to watch these young athletes play because it reminds me of my game days. Everyone is use to watching the big guys on tv but some of these young kids got some great potential and it will be cool one day to know i watched them play before they made it. One of my favorite videos has to be the Hoover vs La Jolla girls varsity game on Hoovers senior night because they made a huge change from last season when they played them and this new season they won! And also it was a very intense game to watch and they had a few good moves and they never gave up for the ball and just kept playing!

As a referee myself I thought the referee of this game did a good job up until the penalty given in second half that consequently prolonged into penalty-shootouts. Edit: Less than 9 minutes in, eject all the spectators and send them to a grass roots training course. I didn't see any contact on the PK call at 12:12. It looked like the shooter took a shot and his momentum carried him to the ground without any help.
The thing to remember is although you may be correct when you have a game this heated you as an official need to have a presence and call it, even if it close because it calms some people down, some what. Now, if it's clearly not a foul, then don't call it, obviously. However, in a crowd, I, as an official, would make the same call this official did.
