Hey Carrie! Great tips! This was a cool video. Thank you, now I can order Uber or lift and travel all around the city, state, and even country. Thank you so much for all of your help! Matt
Hi Carrie. Thank you for another wonderful video with great information. I am actually new to your Channel and found out about you through Sam with the blind life. It is great to connect to another person who is legally blind. Thank you for all that you do and that you continue to do each and every day. Hugs.
Hi Steven! Welcome to our community! I'm so glad you came over here from Sam. He's such a great guy and we really enjoyed our livestream. I love UA-cam and meeting so many people who are blind and visually impaired. It's such a great support all around! Thanks for watching and we'll be doing a lot of content all related to blindness/low vision. Tech, tips, home, orientation, encouragement and more. :)
Thanks for your video. There's one thing I should make a suggestion to you both. If you're using an Uber driver and you're paying them cash. They probably wouldn't be insured if there were an accident. Basically, if you got hurt on that trip. You wouldn't have any way to be compensated for that because Uber will only cover it if it's legitimately on the trip in their system. Just be careful. Thanks for the help.
In Google maps you can ask how many minutes until your destination also you can ask what is my ETA to my destination and it will show you I use it all the time and my maps.
Absolutely! We use the Google maps ETA all the time. ☺️ The idea of asking the driver is so that they can be accountable for the time that they said. It's so if we ask what the ETA is even if we know and they say it's 20 minutes, they kind of have to stick to that because they already told you.
Wow! This is a really useful video. I am still on the process of familiarizing myself with the app. I have only used Uber twice and had a good experience both times. I really like these tips, and being that my husband does drive for Uber, I think some of these tips, texting ahead and asking them if they are willing to wait and also rating them, are just as helpful to the drivers. Thank you again for a really informative video Live Accessible❤❤❤
I plan on doing an overview of this app in the future for people like you and others who have commented. Plus, they keep changing it and it's annoying. Thanks Te. 💕
Well, if Uber or even lift cab services or buses ever become available in my area I will be sure to take all your tips to Heart. Till then I will just rely on my beautiful wife and my assisted driving program. Very well done video Carrie. Very very informative.
@@LiveAccessible yes, my wife is the best. Forever grateful for winning over her heart. Be sure to check on my channel as I am about to upload to videos after this reply. One of them is meant to be funny because of Juan from my RP life made a video yesterday calling me out for a collab video. Be sure to watch it tell me what you think.
Unfortunatley, it's not available everywhere yet. :( But thnaks for watching! I'm really waiting for self driving cars... when we blind people cna drive it without anything. That would be neat.
Another tip I would have especially if you are blind or visually impaired and only guide dog because there’s so much fake service dogs around carry a small symbol cane to say that you are visually impaired and that obviously represents it accurately
That is a great idea! I usually have a regular cane with me, but if someone doesn't use a cane all the time, having an ID or symbol cane is a very great idea. All the best, Carrie.
Great tips I personally don't use public transportation. If I don't have a ride I walk, I love walking everywhere. The closest shopping center is a 30 minute walk one way. Taking a long walk to the store gets me out and about. However this video is very helpful if I ever decide to use public transportation.
Well, it's not public transportation. It's very similar to a Taxi, but more technologically advanced, cleaner cars, and mostly nicer drivers, oh and cheaper, too. :) I used to live in New Jersey though and I used to be able to walk like that. Here they don't believe in sidewalks and "close" is more like an hour or 5 walk. lol. I really wish that they would make more sidewalks though because there are a FEW things that are close and just too dangerous to walk to.
Hi there! Thanks for watching. I totally understand that. Yes, I wouldn't ask every time. I only do that when I know that I can do something really fast! 😊

Great tips! I use Uber!
Thanks JoAnn! Yes, Uber is awesome! 👍
dido! Vincent! I live in the country and they do not come my way, but if my family moves to the city I'll be n it!
We were lucky. We live in a small town, and we were surprised when Uber was available! I hope they get into your area too! :)

Hey, well at least you have that program! That's really cool. BUt it's great that you have a lot of support from your wife!

Sure will! I saw his video yesterday. ☺️
Great tips.
Thanks! Glad you found them useful. :)
I don’t live in an area with Uber but they were great tips

With the Uber app you can also dictate the address where you want to go in the app. Some blind or visually impaired people use it!
Absolutely! We are find and I am visually impaired and use Uber all the time. ☺️ Dictation definitely works well too.
How to do that?

Really good tip about asking the driver their name. I also have to get used to using the app with with my screen reader. Good tips overall actually.
Hey! you sound surprised. LOL well really, I learned from hard experience. Not so fun to get in the wrong uber. Thanks Juan!

Grate, but I don't like the idea of telling them to wait every time.
