Nice explanations! I agree having tested the 3 models and chosen an O model recently! The base is far richer the bigger the model. But in clearness of tones especially the upper notes the difference seems to be more individually than by size (hammer intonation and the individual Steinway (woods etc...) )
+Ivan Sugartail Without going into details regarding my opinion as to sound, I agree that the 1923 M has a significantly better tone than the 1958 model. The 1923 M is from the so-called Golden Age of Pianos as is the O which also has an excellent sound like the 1923 M but perhaps a little richer in the base and tenor due to the longer length. Well that's it for my part. Take care
Edward Ferdon what about in terms of brighter/warmer tones? I don't like bright pianos. I can't recall the model I tried but I remember the Steinway I tried in Dubai's showroom had an amazing excellent warm tone. Between the S, O and M which one is warmer?
I didn't get you. In my opinion some pianos sound warmer than others. Kawai for instance (the one I have and bought in the 1980s) sounds way brighter than Yamaha and Steinway.
AKS I see. That's very interesting. I gave up hoping that I could make any positive changes on my piano though. There aren't many good maintenance people in my area and with an old piano, you definitely need the right technician. With each routine tuning and cleaning it keeps getting worse :/
Not that it ever happens but there's no way those Steinways having genuine ivory keys could be exported to the U.S. The Government's Fish & Wildlife Service would confiscate it and hold it hostage at the ports until those keytops were extracted as blasphemous as that sounds.
They are very fine pianos indeed thank you for sharing your thoughts Resultant64, if you are in the UK feel free to visit us and play one. Best wishes from Roberts Pianos Oxford, Evan Roberts
i dont desereve a steinway (im no pro) but i really want one. however im broke af im living with a shit ass digital that sounds bad to the action of it too
Some shops allow for purchase to buy this might be an option, there are several peripheral makes of less expensive pianos worth looking at. In the UK makes such as Knight, Welmar, Broadwood, Bechstein, and others are less expensive but high quality. In the US Baldwin, Kohler and Campbell, amongst others can be very good depending on condition. If you don't mind it not being a Steinway there are several alternatives that were also very well made. Best wishes, Evan Roberts
@@davidconnors4908 yo i dont even remeber i commented this lol anyways i got a 2nd hand uproght kawai piano i dont know the exact model and stuff but its doing me pretty good

5:09 this piano is good bass sound + tuned higher pitch is great A=? Hz please ☺️
The treble on the S is by far the best (for my taste).
I'd take the 1923 hands down.
+Ivan Sugartail Good pick. Any of these would be an excellent choice.

Plenty of home grown steinways in the US though
just dont tell anyone haha
This is nonsense. A nation with such a president does not care about elephants and other wildlife.
@@duftstabkerze4236 This is about pianos. It would be nice if you stuck with that subject and left political hate out of it.
I thought there were also balance issues with ivory keys as well.
I wish i was rich... :(
D_Mal Me to :(
Me three...
Me five

Where are you come from?

I love the S. Here's one which I maintain in Genoa being put through its paces by its owner ua-cam.com/video/Pm2ZvjLVF9M/v-deo.html
My piano teacher got a $90,000 model m. I want a size s tho $45,000
The S is not worth it, way too expensive. Get a deeper tone with an older kawai/yamaha for a fourth of the price

Slow down your talking to fast,
Eh?
Commentary,the guys speeding.
I'm not even a native English speaker and I can keep up fine, looks like you've got some comprehension problems. Hearing exercises maybe?
He's not speaking fast. I did not even notice that I am not listening to my native language.
