- Abbey loves her eggs a certain type of way and her mom, Christine usually makes them every morning. But this particular morning, Christine stepped back and initiated that Abbey make her own egg! She didn't get it right the first time, but with a little encouragement and trying again, she got it! Often times it's easy for parents to do things for the kids because we know we can. But it's about building confidence and independence so kids are able to accomplish tasks on their own.
"I'm gonna die one day, and who's going to make your eggs?"
"No one!"
same girl I have been here.
we love watching Abbey gain confidence in her skills!
Mum of a 16 year old boy with autism here. This video really made me tear up with pride. I don’t know you Abbey but I’m proud of you!! ❤
As an autistic person most of us prefer autistic person
🙏🏼💕
Pretty sure she’s on a show about love for autistic people. Sorta famous autist here
@@Aceofspades2006 YOU prefer autistic person. My son and many others I know prefer “has autism”.
Proud smother of a helpless 16 year old kid.
In this video, can you not see what all the incessant “help” the other smother is giving is doing?
It’s stealing a learning opportunity from the child.
She has to keep the child helpless for herself to have a life.
A smother can raise 100 kids and 99 would be messed up.
Great job Abbey! Not only was the egg perfect but you pushed through your frustrations ❤
Its super cool watching Abbey grow into a confident adult and independent woman
I mean this from the very bottom of my heart, you have helped me climb out of a deep depression where all I did was listen to negative news. Having the honor and getting to share some of your special and fun moments has reminded me to STOP TAKING LIFE SO SERIOUSLY and that I’ll never be too old to have fun and be the silly girl I really inside full of hope and happiness. Like I haven’t listened to fear news in 2 days thanks to you. This weight I’ve had has fallen off and tonight I’m gonna text all my friends I’ve been feeling guilty about ignoring ❤ you are so special and beautiful. Even my mom commented today I have a spark in my eyes. Thank you 🎉❤
We all break yolks when we are learning, but you did such a great job Abbey!
Just be careful with stardom Ms. Abbey. Stick close to your Mother and family so they can make the correct interpretations of people's needs/actions/messages. Keep a constant loop of communication with them as it appears you are - from someone who dealt with a taste of stardom years ago while be on the spectrum. Congrats on all your accomplishments and David!
Very great for frying an egg for the first time. Being an Autistic person myself, I understand how Abbey felt when she felt like she couldn't get the egg "right" for the first attempt. But, it's very important to practice. No one is perfect the first time around and me struggling with perfectionism, I have to remind myself that I don't need to be perfect. But yeah, frying an egg is a pretty big deal.
Mom of 3 boys, 2 of them are autistic ages 3 and 4 and still nonverbal. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING YOURSELF WITH THE WORLD. You are an inspiration to many!!!!
Our ASD son, didn't speak until age 9... My heart is with you, sending love ❤
Lots of patience, and something I didn't learn until recently - learn to take time for yourself 🥹
I love you Abbey! I have a 8 year old nephew with Autism your such a INSPIRATION!
Proud of you, Abbey! I ALWAYS break yolks so I end up just making them scrambled! 🤣
Fried eggs are not easy to get just right and you did it on your 2nd try. That's impressive.
You give me hope and now am less lonely.
I get so proud of Abbey when she overcome obstacles & achieve goals! Mom, I love how you have honest conversations with her in order to prepare her for life!❤
Great job. Little tip. Cracking on a flat surface gets a cleaner break then the edge of the pan.
Correct!!!
Never get a shell in the egg again this waay
Came to say this
I’d like to see more videos showing her struggles.
I have autism myself, and it’s good to see videos where I can see I’m not alone
Abby, when you practice and put your beautiful mind to it you can do anything. Mom, I love how you are real with her.
I don’t know about anything, but she could do a whole lot more. As an older autistic male, cooking is not my forte. I get overwhelmed when there are more than 5 ingredients involved. I have to have everything involved on the counter, but watching certain things cook while mixing other ingredients, etc. make it frustrating. I panic and can’t finish. I can make eggs, though.
We all learn from our mistakes Abbey, well done on your success. Hello from all your friends in Australia 😁🙃
Beautiful egg. I went to school for cooking and even I can't nail the perfect over easy fried egg each time. My husband eats the broken ones, because I won't 😂
Great job Abbey and mom!❤❤❤
"try it, if i could do it you could do it" haha
Abbey cooked that egg to perfection. Bluberry bagel with a fried egg on the side is my favorite breakfast
gosh why did this make me tear up?? i am autistic and struggle with failure. but the past 3 years i have been working as a caregiver for disabled adults/seniors and they help me understand myself so much. this interaction could have been copied and pasted out of my day at work. my client is quick to quit at things because he cant focus or doesnt want to fail, but his empathy is off the charts. if i explain things through my lens, he can understand/regulate how he feels. its amazing. its more than the rest of the world has done for me, and i love that it is reciprocal help. we also have goofy moments. if he forgets his glasses, i take mine off and pretend bump into stuff. or i pretend to be him with his walker to show walker safety. when he fails at a task and says he cant do it/needs help, hes never more proud/present and aware of his achievement than when i tell him to try again. of course its easier to do it for someone. but this video shows exactly how much us autistic people benefit from routine, firm encouragement, and lots of praise. christine and abbey you are amazing!!!
I love Abbey...shes oddly sweet 💜
She has a great soft touch.. teach her how to make “easy” home made bread…then she will always be able to eat! Salad and egg “sammich”…. Perfect!!
Abbey MAKES ME smile every day❤❤❤❤
Great job! Tell her she can drop the egg out of the shell closer to the pan, not so high up, for less yolk breaking 😊
I cried. Sweet girl, you did a wonderful job! ❤
Holy cow! I've been trying to do that for 45 years.
"Do I have to do it?? You do it!" She is so me
Great Job! That was a perfectly cooked egg. Your mom is a good teacher.
So proud of you Abbey!
Ive cooked SO MANY eggs, and i still cant flip good without breaking the yolk. Good job!!
Great job, Abbey! I hate cracking eggs because it’s so easy to break the yolks. Hopefully with practice it will get easier!
Great job! 🎉 I’m so proud of you 😊. Maybe the next time that David comes over to visit you can cook him an egg. 🥰😘
My big brother is autistic and we've been trying to ready ourselves for mom's passing. Some days are a challenge but he's learned to prepare his own meals but the catch is nobody can be in the kitchen while he cooks. Good job Abby!!! Not breaking the yoke is tricky.
Just a tip. Crack eggs on a flat surface for a better chance of not breaking the yolk. You can even simply drop the egg whole into the pan and then remove the shell. Trust me it works. Keep up the great work!
Way to go Abbey!!!! SOOO PROUD OF YOU!! Even Clementine is proud of you!! ❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 I'm dancing because you cooked your first egg!!
Love when your voice changes to SOUTHERN ACCENT!!!! ABBEY IS THE LITTLE ENGINE THAT DID IT AGAIN!!!! ❤😂 great job girl- I’m a mother of 4 & grandma and been cooking for over 4 decades since I was 8 and I break yikes a lot still - even now!!! So way to go!!! You are amazing!!!! 😂❤😅
They’re from Los Angeles, aren’t they?
Abbey! Here's to healthy eating. Great job!
Abby how do I meet somebody like you?Just so honest and living life to its fullest... I wouldn't even know how to do it😊
Good job Abby! I've been cooking eggs for myself and others for over 40 years, and I still don't get them perfectly all the time, and it's ok. You just get more comfortable with it the more you practice. And knowing you can feed yourself and someone else, is the greatest feel-good reward for having completed the task 😊
Someone here also with an invisible illness!!!!! (Traumatic Brain Injury from being hit by car) I was there- exactly you are Abbey!! (14 year long journey)
Wasn’t really interested in watching the show until I saw you in the trailer and was like omg she different just like me!!!
Fast forward: I’m married to my Lion and cub (fur baby) Polly Pocket!) I did it and you can do it too!!!
P.S. I also like collecting things from the 90/2k’s like Lion King!!! 🦁👑🌿
I am a new fan, Lady Abbey! (I wanted to say "Abbey Girl," but this video proves you are maturing into an independent woman! ) 🍳🥯🐶
Abbey crushing the cooking game! I ALWAYS break the yolks and I cook all the time!😂
As a long time executive Chef. I must say what a fantastic egg, and perfect technique.
bless her she got it on her 2nd time, and she was ready to quit too, well done Abbey
I still can't cook a perfect fried egg. This is hard. Good job Abby!
You're so brave! ❤ Good work Abbey.
Thats the thing about dogs. Soon as you make food. ,they are on to it. ha ha
WELL DONE ABBEY
WOOO WOOOO ❤
Great work Abbey (& mom)! Hot tip, try cracking the eggs on a flat surface instead of the sharp edge of the frying pan.
Mom of 2 boys, youngest is autistic… he now loves to cook! I love that for him. He also gets to being adventurous and creative with his cooking. I love this video… yeah for Abby!! Looks really yummy!! ❤
Sometimes an imperfect egg is the best egg. I’m learning to
Cook and it’s fun. Completely takes my focus off daily life. Keep going abbey 💖🌸
You did a good job...my husband is a professional chef and he still breaks yolks once in a while. Pro tip...crack your egg on a flat surface rather than the edge of the pan or bowl. Cracking eggs in this manner will lead to more intact yolks as "edges" tend to push the cracked edges into the yolks. Hope this helps...😊
I'm not eatin' that broken yolk either, Abbey!! Keep tryin' till ya get it right! Also, I'm bad at cracking eggs. That's why I just hard boil mine LOL
Awesome job, Abbey!! Looks amazing!
Crack the egg in a bowl . Then slide egg into pan . It helps . Love the videos .
I was so nervous for her but that's a mom's way, you know, we get noyvus😂
Clem.. tangerine.. love that movie.
Good job Abby! I don’t like broken yolks either, the more you practice the easier it gets. I still break them sometimes though- my husband eats those 😊
I still do not know who I love more … Abby or her mom ❤❤❤❤
Girl... I don't have autism & yet I have all those SAME thoughts when it's time to fry an egg "over easy." My fave way to eat 🥚 too.
I’m a mom of two and even still I can’t perfect the egg like you did. Takes me 3 try’s at least 😂❤ good job girly!! Never give up trying new things
your technique is flawless abbey, i’m still getting the hang of it myself 😖
love you🍳 you rocked the egg flip
That’s right mama: life skills!!!!!!
Thanks Abbey! As a fellow autistic adult trying to gain independence, you inspire me ❤
Amazing Abbey. Truly. You didn't give up when you felt discouraged.
I was taught to crack into a bowl and check it for shells. So glad you are learning to cook! That is great. ❤ i nearly did crack up laughing when you cut the egg all up like that so I couldn't tell if the yoke had broken or not.😂❤
Great job Abbey!!
I want to try this with my daughter Heidi! Maybe she can watch this video first and see Abbey do it!.
That is a never-ending challenge! Good for you on your second try! :)
2 Abbey I know professional chef who cannot make fried eggs for trying you're doing brilliantly
I worked as a driver for activity centers in Ohio, I loved hanging out with kids with special needs they brightened my day and cared about me as I did for them.
Congratulations!!!!! This is SO AWESOME!!!
Egg-cellent job Abbey! ❤
Abbey! I am so proud of you! Definitely listen and learn from your mom! My dad was the cook in our family and he passed away last summer. Now im learning to cook from UA-cam. Wish I could have learned from my dad himself but that’s okay! I know he’s watching over me! Love you abbey! 🥰💝
Im going to die someday 😅😅love your humour ❤❤❤
I’m going to die someday and then… We’ve all thought it. I’m glad you’re able to say it out loud because families that love their loved ones that we care for fear that fear. It’s our biggest. Not just wanting to know they will be cared for in a loving way but may be able to help care for themselves AND not be hurt or taken advantage of with no advocate. No one can ever love them like we do but it feels like Abbey and David have some very loving family that will be there for both of them. Such a blessing. If only everyone could understand this of all our most vulnerable people in our communities ❤
She’s so pretty❤
Way to go Abbey!
This sounds crazy but hold the egg about a foot above the pan and drop it. The shell will Crack and the yolk won't break. You got this Abby!!!
Abbey is doing her very best, and that's how you know she's going to succeed!
Great job! One little hint (if it’s ok) is that the hotter the pan, the more likelihood that it may break. It took me a while to to learn that but now I heat it kind of hot, and then I turn the heat down a little. Then it usually cooks perfectly
Great job Abby! Im 25 years old and learning how to cook!
Hi Abbey, I just finished season 2 and would love to hear you sing more, you have a beautiful voice ❤
I hate the yoke breaking too. I crack mine into a mug first then slowly pour it from the mug to the pan.
Once you get it down, it's yours forever. Just build up some favorites and enjoy it while you do. Nice job, girl.
It took me FOREVER to figure this out. Go Abbey!
I sort of devised my own little trick for this. Instead of putting the heat on high at first... I keep it on low -- literally 2 or 3. Then, I crack the eggs into the pan and put a pot lid over it, and turn it on minimum. They slow cook with the yolks solid this way. When they're done I just turn the heat up a bit to make em crispy.
Might not work for everyone, but it works for me!
I think she likes her yolks runny though
Great job Abbey❣️❣️❣️
I'm with abbey. I find textures an issue( no autism diagnosis), but eggs have to be whole when fried, and cooked the right amount.
Also, so amazing abbey cooked breakfast so brilliantly!
Beautiful moment - proud of you Abby! I saw the hesitation but you went forward and did it! Mom cheering and supporting you the whole time - you’re an amazing mom, too!
Way to go, mom. You’re a gem.
This made my day ❤ A perfect egg! I want one 😊
I love the doggo at the end
Girl I make eggs all the time and half the time I break them 😂 you did so good
Hats off to you!!!
So proud of you!!!!!!!!!❤🎉
abbey is a breath of fresh air what a woman!
