  • Let a balloon go and it tears away in all directions like a mad thing out of control, but Rob shows how to make a rocket from a balloon that ascends gracefully in a straight line SUBSCRIBE NOW

    "The sticky tape is behaving erratically"
    Don't hear that phrase often enough...

    I love Rob's way of describing things, such as "The sticky tape's behaving erratically!" 🙂

    This one is really great. You can feel like a rocket engineer even if you can’t afford those fancy models.

    The PAL video source hasn't been deinterlaced, so half the information in each frame is missing (PAL uses 2 fields per frame), witnessed as a horrible comb effect whenever there is any motion in the video. Please deinterlace into 25fps (or even better deinterlace into the full 50fps, which UA-cam supports). FFMPEG with the simple 'yadif' filter works a treat!

      @Rosehill CCTV he's an aerospace engineer. it's a shame that people would rather write "google it" than spend the exact same (or less) amount of time to simply be helpful

    • @NorthGaReptile
      @NorthGaReptile 2 роки тому +6

      @@atcJ You're forgetting that its much easier and quicker to just google a name in the first place instead of asking who that person is and waiting for a response. Telling someone to "google it" is basically telling someone what they should've done in the first place.
      Also, answers researched are more likely to stick than answers told while possibly opening up more lanes of curiosity.
      Lastly, lets not encourage someone to take other people's word. Not to discredit an individual's honesty or intellect, but RDV RDV could've said that Von Braun was a chicken farmer and Rosehill would've been none the wiser.

    • @atcJ
      @atcJ 2 роки тому +1

      @@NorthGaReptile I get ya. Although considering old mate replied a fair few times, it would've been simpler to just give the answer.
      Chicken farmer or not, I personally think people can learn not to take other people's word by being told that Von Braun is a chicken farmer then relating it to the topic of this video and realising that this information is probably nonfactual.
      Regardless, I definitely hear what you're saying but unfortunately do not 100% agree

      Thanks. Curiosity Show was a national science program featuring Dr Rob Morrison and Dr Deane Hutton. It was made in Adelaide, South Australia and screened nationally in Australia as well as in Europe, Asia and Australasia (14 countries and dubbed in German for Europe) from 1972-1990. Deane and Rob intentionally used everyday items around the house (like old rusty cans) so that people could repeat the demonstrations with materials they had to hand. In 1984 Curiosity Show won the Prix Jeunesse International, the world's top award for TV programs for young people. Rob and Deane are steadily uploading segments at ua-cam.com/users/curiosityshow Why not subscribe?
