I've loved every minute of following this tutorial. I've now made 2 of these shawls & 4 other shawls following different Fiber Spider tutorials. Simply the best!!
Thank you for this shawl pattern. It took me a while to get my head around it but once it sank in I love it. A small tip I would like to pass on is to put a stitch marker in each eyelet space between the segments. That way it will remind you to keep that space clear, especially while watching TV or a movie. Love all of your tutorials Fiber Spider. Lots of love from Victoria, Australia.
I love the way this shawl is turning out. This is a great pattern, I prefer this shape to a triangular one because it doesn't go on and on down at the back in order to have decent length sides. This is definitely a go-to design. Thanks, Spider. 😂
Dear Fiber Spider, I started this a few months ago and i have returned to finished and I printed the pattern so I can work on. This is a beautiful half circle shawl easy to follow i'm so grateful that you are teaching us how to crochet my work all of it goes tot he church to help the sick to comfort them. thank you l love your work. I also want to thank Purpleiguana Thank you God Bless Aidalina
FiberSpider, you've done yet another great video, and I am so gratified that you have done another of my patterns. I must say, you are a great teacher, and I love how you take the time and show/explain every bit. :) I know the increases are a little wonky, but it's because this particular shawl is sort of based on working a flat dc circle, which is like a pizza with 12 slices, and each row you crochet, each "slice" only gets a single increase. This keeps your circle nice and flat. So those increases in the shawl do seem a little odd or lopsided--and there was much trial and error on my part because I didn't like how it was asymmetrical--but it turned out to be really the only way it would work and keep with that flat circle idea. I had to convince myself that the increase on the eyelet row balanced out the increase on the solid row and sort of canceled out the wonky. I also love that you pointed out not to work into the chain space that separates the segments. For me, that really helped let me know where my increases needed to be. And I am a "Pooh of little brain," sometimes, so anything that makes things easier for me is probably what I'm going to end up doing. haha There is a third variation that I did on my own, but didn't include in the pattern. It was a 3/4 variant that begins with 9dc instead of 7, all the increases are worked as a solid row (no eyelet rows) until you get 24dc per segment, then alternating between eyelet/solid 3 times, so there are 3 eyelet rows, each eyelet row being followed by a solid row, and then whatever edging you like best. Thanks again!
I took quite a bit of liberty with the basic pattern. I hope both you & purpleiguana will forgive me, please! ; ) Instead of working the 'soild row as 2 DC into the top of the 1st dc, I worked a single TC into the first of the stitches and added my increases into the middle of the stitches. My favorite tutor always says that symmetry is what it's all about!! (yes i quoted you F.S.) I also changed the stitches from doubles crochets to triples on these rows as well but kept using doubles on the lace rows. I used a bulky 5 yarn and a size K hook to work this pattern as i wanted a bigger shawl for winter! I think it has turned out perfect so far! Thank you both for this project & i wanted to tell you Fiber Spider just how much I appreicate you for being so awesome! A fantastic teacher!
I’ve already commented but just wanted to add that putting a stitch marker in the chain space that separates the sections, really helps from going too far in each row. Just move it up each time you get to it. Obvious but has worked well for me.
There's just one word for this tutorial-awesome. I've never had to backtrack on the video or try to figure out what you said or what you meant. Absolute perfection. I'm eighteen minutes in crocheting along with you and my work is flawless. I haven't had to frog my work once! Thank you so much for all your help!
My name is Joey. I love all the creative projects that you come up to do. I just finished a American Flag Throw. It is worked with a granny square stitch. The border was two rows of sc. The 50 stars had to be sewn on last. It was a time cosuming project. I know how you like that stitch in projects that you do. It measured 48" height x 83" wide. You give me inspiration to be a better crocheter and to be a better person. THANK YOU FIBER SPIDER.
Thanks for this tutorial, I've made mine with all my red and blue scrap yarn, not so pretty but will be warm for sitting outside on these fall evenings! Plan on making another. You explain things so well!
hii fiber spider i love watching your tutorials and you are very informative the way you explain the stitches it is like you are talking for the yarn thank you again
I love your tutorials. Back in the day I used to have to have my mom help me start and end a project because I could not figure out how to read patterns. I'm a little better at reading patterns but now I don't have to because I can just follow along with you. You are a great teacher which makes it so easy to follow along. My mom has been gone for over 20+ years now but she'd be amazed at all the beautiful shawls I've made for people who feel God's comforting arms wrapped around them when they wear it and it's all thanks to you. I've crocheted quite a few different triangle shaped patterns but I found this "sort of half circle shawl" covers a person's arms better and it doesn't have that long "tail" in the back. My favorite pattern is the butterfly one. Do you think there would be a way to combine that pattern with this one? I look forward to your response. Meanwhile stay inspired, stay caffeinated and stay stitching!
hi! i like how you do your tutorial. i love your soft voice & your giggle. other tutorial videos i see that, its better that the host will just keep quiet so viewers will not be confused and can follow. love how you explain.. thanks for this one. i will make this project
I'm just finishing my shawl. Tip: I put stitch markers into the chain 1 gaps on each of the segments. It made it easier to keep track of where I was at and easier to count the stitches as I went.
So pretty. Thank you for showing us another great pattern from PurpleIguana. I love her patterns and you do such a great job of explaining them. Your videos are just priceless. I plan to start work on this today!
Just finished this shawl with Mandala Chimera. It's beautiful (even with a couple small mistakes)! You'd have to be an expert like yourself to find them. You are a wonderful instructor and I really appreciate your time and patience. I, like others, have tried to follow others but so far I've only had good luck with a rare few. Thank you so much for all your efforts!
Thank you Fiber Spider, your videos are so much fun! I always feel like I’m crocheting with a friend following your tutorials. I finally “got” the pattern here on the final repeat you did. Thanks again.
Hello Fiber Spider! I am copy cat because I was used the same yarn and color of you. But only I was used the two cakes for my shawl. Thank you for sharing this tutorial your voice is so calm . 👋😘💖😎
I'm making this shawl using a LB Mandala yarn with 6.5 hook...I also chained 2 between each segment, which made it easier and added to the lovely drape of this shawl. Thank you😊
Hi Fiber Spider! I have had 3 skeins of Caron Cakes in Blueberry Cheesecake, that I just haven't found the right pattern for. I have had them, for quite a while. I've tried several other pattens and was not happy with the outcome. Until I saw this tutorial. My shawl is coming out great and well, I think I like it. It's funny how just the right yarn and pattern have to be right for each other? 🤔 Thanks for a great tutorial. 👍
The eyelet row for some reason gave me trouble, but I do think I have it now. Once again thank you, it is much appreciated. This will be for my sons mother-in-law. Have a great holiday.
Hi Fiber Spider I love this pattern thank you so much for the tutorial. Started one yesterday and am now working on the edging. I love it. Thanks again, looking forward to your next video. From Calgary, Canada
What an awesome detailed tutorial. Thank you so much. I have already made one shawl from your tutorial and this will be the 2nd. This author is very talented.
I have to count.... I think it’s in my nature!!!😂😂😂😂😂 Love this pattern and am going to keep working on it ! Thank you and the purple iguana for such a nice pattern !❤️❤️❤️
This is nice. This one I can do with you The turning chain makes me crazy 😜 but now I try because you show me where to put the hook Thanks for all your time and 😃 Happy Holiday Oh I said I would never buy that yarn but I did and it really looks nice 👍
The turning chain sometimes drives me crazy too, but I find it really helps to chain a tad loosely so that it is easier to stitch into at the end of the following row. Regardless, I'm delighted to help however that I can 😊🕸🕷
Help, spider. Heren a compliment fron Holland.... I loesi all your work. And you make it easy to try it. Ik lover to see the next onze. Lots of live, karin.
Thanks for rely I am almost done with wild wheat shawl and not sure which to start next half moon or star I really like all your shawls thanks for teaching all of us .....
No problem whatsoever! When I'm not sure about how much yarn I'm going to need, I err on the side of caution and get more than I think I'll need. I keep the receipt and then (if my willpower is strong) I return what skeins I didn't use. On the other hand, it's often a good idea to use yarn with no dye lot, then if you run out you can always get more of the same with no anxiety. 🤓☕🕸🕷
I have to say, I have become OBSESSED with your shawl tutorials. Thank u, dear. p.s., if you had a PO box, I would send you a Christmas card, just know I would've if I could've :-)
Hello, I absolutely love this shawl, but I have tried to do it in a fluffy chunky, with no success, You cannot see the stitches on the row below, but I really wanted a lacy fluffy shawl. I did it with a big hook, may be try some thing dk & a smaller hook. Thank you very much for sharing this wonderful shawl. Take care . Xx
