My first and only pair of Kobes was the Kobe 5 Miles Davis colorway. Liked them a lot back then but looking at them now they look kinda weird. Might go for a different colorway once one I like drops

Your on point again Chris, we both grew up when players had their signatures associated with their team colors, Mike , Penny , Grant Hill, Ewing’s. I’d wish we see more of that now but we don’t (super sad mamba face)
That’s why I’ve always liked Penny’s shoes they come in every color way they just tend to hurt
I had the blackout colorway of these, and yeah, busted right through them overtime. As far as favorite colorway, Chaos is sick, but for the 5, its gotta be Bruce Lee. I like the Chaos colorway in the 6 better.

My very first pair of Kobes were the Vs! I absolutely get your “thing” about the signature team colorway. I’m the same way especially with Jordans...I NEED them in bulls blk/red !!! I do miss the home and away team colorways too. It’s ironic because brands will come up with “team inspired” colorways....but you don’t really get actual team colorways anymore....unless they are player exclusives. 🤷🏽♂️ I guess the last ones sorta were the KD 12 GSW colorways .....and the Anta KT shoes.
Damn, RIP Kobe Bryant. Looks like this will be the last shoe designed and wore by him. I hope to get my hands on a pair.
He retired in 2016 and wore the 11's as his last shoe worn in game
@@Cynnik911 Yes, I was aware of that. As of my post, I was referring to the last one he designed and wore prior to his passing. I also know there is another one coming out to commemorate his "championships" but I heard Nike has put those on hold.
I’m not the biggest Kobe line fan but these as a low and the colorway are fire!!! My favorite Kobe’s are the 9 and 2.
These and the 4s look great but one thing that I don't like about these two Protros is that they are heavier than the OGs. I remember being surprised at how light the originals were, especially the 5, but the Protros are noticeably heavier. I grabbed a pair of my old 5s to compare and it's super light. That was one of the cool things about the original Kobe 4-6, how light they were. That Cushlon midsole in the Protro 5 added a lot of weight as well as taking the Lunarlon out the Protro 4 for Phylon.

red all star game V is my favorite... went to the all star game in dallas that year. purchased the red Vs in a footlocker and flew back home to CA wearing them on feet.

I was in 7th grade when the kobe 5 came out and my pops got me the lakers colorway that u metioned and i couldnt beleive how light the shoe was. Good times
I tried them in store today. Fit is exactly like original which is great. Cushion wise I can’t feel anything under foot. I’m about 160 pounds
Dark Knight and POP colorways for me! I feel you on the team colorway aspect. The ‘jet black’ colorway of the Kyrie 6 is a team colorway.

Never had the chance to play in the OG V, my first Nike Kobe signature was the 1 and then the 6, but I have always loved the Chaos, Bruce Lee and Finals colorways. I miss those old days too, with every signature shoe released in teams colorways and maybe one or even two non team cw's (like the AJ 13 Flint and Brave blue lows, those were so damn gorgeous).
i hope they protro the bruce lees 😩 that’s a double up.. and the dark knights are dope too.. would love a pair of black chaos

If you have any Nike sb's or Jordan SB collab shoes... The insoles have a small zoom bag in the heel. Swap out the Kobe insole and boom forefoot and heel zoom cushion 😊

Hey Chris, you are man. Love your reviews these were my favorite from the Kobe line and IV’s of course and maybe 6. I use to play a lot of ball in the Bay and a few Filipino leagues up in the Easbay as well. I had my biggest games in the Wolf Grey color way lol. Keep up the good work!

Unfortunately, I struck out on this. This hit me right in the nostalgia. Had the Laker colorway back in high school, they're really beat but man i still keep em to remember how insane the 5s were. Can't wait for the performance review!

the kobe 5 was my first sig basketball shoe. i remember getting the navy and white but wanting the all blue upper one. Also i agree on the idea of the first color or one of the first colorways of a sig shoe should be in the athletes team colors.

I totally agree with you about the home team colorway. I cannot believe like 6 Curry 6 colorway had been released and not a single Warriors colorway. The suppose Dubnation colorway look more like Sea Hawks.

Fantastic shoe, absolutely loved playing in them back in the day, I had the Bruce Lee colourway, though I really wanted the Lower Merion Aces Home colourway but that was a PE that was impossible to get in England.

Until these the only other Kobe 5 I own is the USA colorway...really got into the Nike Kobe line towards the tail end of the Kobe 5 releases. Love all the subsequent models in the line. Great review and content.

My all time favorite Kobe shoe. I believe the lightest Kobe shoe I believe. I think they weigh less than 10 ounces...I had about 5 colorways
I got the black and purple ones for christmas as my first basketball shoes... the sad thing is that I stepped on a nail one day when there was renovation going on at my house and it punctured the heel cushion..
My first pair of “real” Kobe’s were the Kobe 5s in the Laker color way! Loved them & wore them into the ground.
Before that I had the Kobe Hyperdunks in White gold & purple, but not sure you can count those as a real Kobe.

I unlocked the NBA 2K20 version of these which is a different color way that is rumored to only have 2200 pairs made and the carbon fiber is better quality than the Air Jordan 11 breds/playoffs. Oh yeah the purple Lebron 17 that your wife talked about was a collab with 2K also that is why Nike did that colorway!
These have a glass based carbon fiber composite shank. It’s lighter in weight and is a little less strong than the spring plates found on the AJ11.

Reluctantly passed on these today. $180+tax is just too much for any sneaker. I love kobes but price points are just crazy nowadays.
