▬▬▬▬ About ▬▬▬▬
he DF64 made waves as the first of many “Niche Killer” grinders for the home with 64mm flat burrs, a relatively smooth albeit messy workflow, great performance, and an attractive price tag.
But it still couldn’t hold a candle to the clean workflow of the Niche Zero and definitely lacked in the overall build quality department. Following the DF64 we’ve seen a plethora of grinders with new ones dropping seemingly every week, all trying to achieve this “race to the bottom” with the best price to performance ratio.
With the Gen 2 release of the DF64, Turin has truly struck that sweet spot in the price to performance ratio while improving upon the build quality with workflow improvements and is easily my new go-to recommendation for an all-rounder grinder capable of both espresso and filter in a $400 package. This is the new Turin DF64 Gen 2.

What do you think about the new DF64 Gen 2? Is this the best 'budget' all-rounder grinder?

I got mine (DF64 Gen 2 Vers 1) a few weeks ago (first batch with the red button) and I love it! Simply amazing value! My Mazzer Super Jolly is now for sale after 7 years of fateful service! I have both the white (office) and the black (home) and can assure everyone, there is next to no mess. I've been in the game for over 25 years and I've tried all kinds of grinders from $150 to $2,000 and this is THE ONE I'll be keeping. Noise level seems acceptable to me.
I know I'm replying to an old comment but how does it compare to a super jolly? Did you get a single dosing mod for the SJ?
@@theoperrin9653 It does a great job. Zero mess and zero leftover coffee in the grinder are the two big advantages. I haven’t A-B the grinders for taste!
Is there a newer gen2 version? Is the only difference the power button ?
Please make a video with workflow with the aeropress. As this will be my setup once the grinder becomes available in uk
Thanks for the review, have really been enjoying them. Where would i be able to buy a DF64 with 220v power supply?
I hope you do review about the happy tamper and how to deal with it… thanks
Just got mine. First thing I noticed, it’s heavy. Very solid build and tight tolerances. Maybe I’m just used to my old OXO grinder, but this didn’t seem very loud to me. It grinds fast, or just faster than what I’m used to. So far, really liking it.
I received mine a week ago and i could not be more pleased! Very easy to adjust and fine tune light roasts. Got a bit more balance and aromatic shot than before.
this grinder is living in the shadow of the original df64, needs more hype!
what colour is your on/off button? seen pics of it with a red button, what look really bad.
white / clear
Great video! How do you compare it to the Eureka Specialita in the background? A few good deals on that at the minute so it’s a touch cheaper than the DF64 Gen 2
background is a eureka libra! libra is espresso focused so i wouldnt say its an allrounder like the df64. i believe the specialita is also espresso focused
That's what i needed. I am Looking for this grinder in Europe for reasonable price. Time to replace my old moded delonghi grinder.
this is the way
Hi, thank you for this review. What’s the lever espresso machine you are using?
Sorry, found the answer in the pinned comment
Please review the DM47
Is it better than the DF64P for Espressolovers?
Do you know if the ode gen 2 burrs will fit in this for filter coffee?
Currently have an Encore, and wanting to upgrade to this grinder, any thoughts on that switch? I do prefer brighter and fruitier coffees/brews
I would go for it, you'll definitely be able to achieve that with this grinder, If you have extra budget, the 83 will get you there even further
where did you get that little black cozy for your steam wand? I really want one. 6:14
artpresso
@itsXris
Hi, thanks for a great video 👌 At 6:37 the lid is showed, and it looks like light oak. I have pre ordered the gen 2 and I think it only comes with dark walnut.
Did you custom order the lid from factory or did just come that way without you asking?
my lid is custom olive wood from fiveouncedesign !
Is This grinder is the same as df64v?
Thanks for making grinder review 🙏
Different :)
This or the Eureka Mignon Libra?
What's that silicone piece that was covering the steam wand in the video?
I think thats an artpresso steam wand cleaning tool. Has cloth in the middle to clean the steam wand.
Great review! Subscribed! I am torn between this amd DF83 v2. If budget wasnt an issue, which would you go for?
Go for the DF83 if money is not an issue. Its basically same but larger, and hence grinds faster
@@chris_huelsemeyer is it just because of grind speed? If so, I am not bothered about that at all.
@christofaraikon4995 imo you'll get a little higher clarity in the cup with the 83. espressos are comparable because the 83 does a nice traditional style shot, but body is lighter and more tea like with the 83
Im trying to decide between this and a Eureka Mignon Silenzio. But cant come to a conclusion 😅. Mainly espresso but i like the versatilty of the df64 and the hopper of the Eureka
I would get the DF64
@@chrisandrews4927I own the Silenzio and have been eyeing the DF64 but based on your comment it seems like I would be better suited getting something in the next price range because of the close similarities in taste between the Silenzio and DF64?
I've had bad luck with Turin products. My Gen 2 still had bad retention so I stuck with my Eureka. I'd wait for the new Eureka Zero. Same price as the DF64 and has so many more features. Saw it at Host Milano last week!
Did you by chance happen to get when that's going to release? I'm needing a new grinder 🥺
This grinder isnt loud. Try the sette 270wi. That’s loud.
For the noise, the DF64V is the way to go.
I'll have to try that model out sometime!
My next grinder will be more high end, looking forward to the first weber reviews to drop
I may or may not have recently completed a purchase at Weber Workshops....
@@itsxris awesome 👌
How is it compared to Niche duo ?
Lance Hendrick recently made a video comparing the DF83 against the Niche Duo. Not a 1:1 comparison to the DF64 Gen 2, but the features/workflow should be about the same.
The DF64 is better performance for the price, but personally I do like the Niche Duo a little bit more for filter. Pretty indifferent on either for espresso.
This or the Varia VS3 Gen 2? Ordered the vs3 but second guessing now
Variable RPM or bust.
Not as great as the Niche Duo???
Its loud lol, Welcome to my 100 dollar piece of crap that grind for like 1 min every morning this is perfect haha
