    I feel like some people distinguish different types of barbers based on their race and I feel that is completely wrong. In my time as a barber and observing different types of barbers I feel like there are 3 main types. 1st, modern barbers who do smooth fades, edge ups, hard parts, designs, etc. using mainly clippers and clipper guards such as Vick, Chucka Torres, Hunt Da Barber, etc. 2nd, are classic vintage barbers who do 19th century inspired haircuts such as quiffs, slick back, side parted, etc. I find these types of barbers use shears much more often and use shear over comb or clipper over comb to blend rather then clipper guards. I also find these types of barbers love using pomades to style their haircuts. Examples of barbers like this that you can find on UA-cam are Daniel Alfonzo from DanielAlfonsoTV, Greg Zorian, etc. 3rd, are those hairstylists (usually mainly females) that are usually straight razor shy and use feather razors instead and do a lot of shear work. I also find these types of barbers spend a lot more time styling the hair with blow dryers and round brushes. I realize most people refer to these types of barbers as hairstylists. A great example of barbers like this are Slikhaar TV. My dream is to combine elements from all three of these types of barbers and open a barbershop that includes all different techniques.

    • @Onyxaxe
      @Onyxaxe 9 років тому +4

      Thanks for those references. I like the idea of your barbershop as well. One stop for all styles and new ideas too.

    • @CCCL350

      Idk, I stick to barbers based on race.
      Black barbers have always messed up my haircuts.
      Also some old school barber shops cut way too slow. The barbers act like little divas, usually talking on the phone while cutting hair, gossiping, etc. Especially the shops in the hood, where these ghetto barbers act like divas.
      If ur incorporating many barbershop ideas together, make sure professionalism is number one. Also courtesy is important. Ive had black barbers rush me out of their shops with hack job haircuts, probably because they are not skilled on cutting diff races. This is why we stick to our own barbershops.

    • @Onyxaxe
      @Onyxaxe 9 років тому +1

      There will always be bad experiences in average retail. I think he was talking about professional barbers. You could ease up on the disdain as well. I'm black and found this pretty offensive, even if your points have merit. There's a way to express things with tact.

    • @CCCL350
      @CCCL350 9 років тому +1

      Onyxaxe
      My bad, I can see how that could have been offensive to black barbers. I didnt mean it in a racist way, but the post came off that way.
      Iv'e been cutting my hair in the hood for ever, and when i said that ghetto hood barbers act like divas, i didnt mean specifically black ones.

    • @Jourmand1r
      @Jourmand1r 9 років тому

      CCCL350 dude, you are just a racist moron. Barbers acting like ghetto morons has nothing to do with race. Anyone can be impoverished and anyone can be stupid.

    save about 15 minutes by using an oster #2 or #1.5 and use a hand fade technique by pulling the clipper away from the head as you go up. takes some practice but well worth it. The effect will be less spotty on the transitions.

      The benefit to using the clipper over comb method as opposed the clippers with a guard is not all clients have a perfectly rounded head, and it's easier to create a natural tapering look around the hairline (like the barber did around the temple area of the client at 1:27). When you use clippers with a guard it will follow the exact shape of their head, which could possible have strange bumps or divots. When you use clipper over comb you are able to create a more even look as opposed to the hair just being the same length from scalp to ends no matter the head shape.

    Looks like a mole... That's why it's so round. If he did it with the clippers it would be more of a straight Line.

    Did you mean to cut a hole in the back... lol

    • @Dinos0001
      @Dinos0001 10 років тому +3

      He didn't cut a hole. The hole was there and was covered by the longer hair around it. This happens when you hit your head and need stitches. Hair no longer grows where the cut in your skin was.

      This a client of mine in the salon and I cut his hair every week so to let you know this is def. a scar. To really clear this up I have done another youtube video using him as a haircut model and he has the same scar. here is the link: ua-cam.com/video/LDlIu8WroEc/v-deo.htmlm2s

    Gel on a Pompadour? seriously.... USE POMADE MAN!

    • @docholidays89
      @docholidays89 9 років тому

      ***** Embcii Bee pomade basically made by oil and if you had dry hair its fine, but if you using pomade on the other way condition it can damaged your skin head. so you can use gel for the same wet look as pomade or cream with soft texture. Don't use wax it too much dry in your hair :)

    This young man is doing a great haircut, but the way he is holding his hands whilel cutting, he will not last long, holding the hands palm to palm will save his wrist, bending his wrist like he is will lead to surgery in the future that could put him out of work...I've cut hair for 54 years, this is a lesson shown to me before I got to the point of surgery!!

    That isn't a pompadour. You have skill but classic cuts are classic cuts and thats not one of them.

      It's a modern pompadour. Just like when girls say they're getting a modern version of a shag haircut or of a Dorothy Hamill cut or Farrah Fawcett Style. Hairstyles evolve and this is the current idea of what a 21st century pompadour looks like.
