I have had my license for 2 years now and you just saved me with this video! I've never had to do this cut before and the teacher only ever showed us the basics of everything. Thank you! I'll be sure to watch more:)
Dakota Spradlin i dont have a license but i am learning alot from him. Especially how he flicks the scissors out of the way. Is that something most everyone does?
W9l
next time make the background music LOWER than the video sound so we can hear what you say
Hey, what the hell am I watching this for...I'm going bald! It's great to see a confident artist working his magic none the less. Kudos to you and the talent that you have been developing.
Sorry about the music it did seem a little loud. That's as real as it gets :) it was my salon guest just in for his regular cut. We just decided to film it. Glad you enjoyed the video. I want to do more like that. Thanks for the input!
This guy wears a blazer while cutting hair....clearly I've been going to the wrong places
This made me lol..
I usually go to Great Clips for my haircut, $14.
A2Kaid For me, a Vietnamese salon for $9.
This dude probably paid 40 +tip haha
Haha, made me laugh! 😂💵
The music is way too loud in this video
I feel like some people distinguish different types of barbers based on their race and I feel that is completely wrong. In my time as a barber and observing different types of barbers I feel like there are 3 main types. 1st, modern barbers who do smooth fades, edge ups, hard parts, designs, etc. using mainly clippers and clipper guards such as Vick, Chucka Torres, Hunt Da Barber, etc. 2nd, are classic vintage barbers who do 19th century inspired haircuts such as quiffs, slick back, side parted, etc. I find these types of barbers use shears much more often and use shear over comb or clipper over comb to blend rather then clipper guards. I also find these types of barbers love using pomades to style their haircuts. Examples of barbers like this that you can find on UA-cam are Daniel Alfonzo from DanielAlfonsoTV, Greg Zorian, etc. 3rd, are those hairstylists (usually mainly females) that are usually straight razor shy and use feather razors instead and do a lot of shear work. I also find these types of barbers spend a lot more time styling the hair with blow dryers and round brushes. I realize most people refer to these types of barbers as hairstylists. A great example of barbers like this are Slikhaar TV. My dream is to combine elements from all three of these types of barbers and open a barbershop that includes all different techniques.
Thanks for those references. I like the idea of your barbershop as well. One stop for all styles and new ideas too.
Idk, I stick to barbers based on race.
Black barbers have always messed up my haircuts.
Also some old school barber shops cut way too slow. The barbers act like little divas, usually talking on the phone while cutting hair, gossiping, etc. Especially the shops in the hood, where these ghetto barbers act like divas.
If ur incorporating many barbershop ideas together, make sure professionalism is number one. Also courtesy is important. Ive had black barbers rush me out of their shops with hack job haircuts, probably because they are not skilled on cutting diff races. This is why we stick to our own barbershops.
There will always be bad experiences in average retail. I think he was talking about professional barbers. You could ease up on the disdain as well. I'm black and found this pretty offensive, even if your points have merit. There's a way to express things with tact.
Onyxaxe
My bad, I can see how that could have been offensive to black barbers. I didnt mean it in a racist way, but the post came off that way.
Iv'e been cutting my hair in the hood for ever, and when i said that ghetto hood barbers act like divas, i didnt mean specifically black ones.
CCCL350 dude, you are just a racist moron. Barbers acting like ghetto morons has nothing to do with race. Anyone can be impoverished and anyone can be stupid.
love the 'do. watching him cut the top of his hair was kind of mesmerizing lol. hes got talent if he can just swivel the second half of the pair of scissors and cut that cleanly :D
Might want to lower the volume of the music for future segments. It was difficult to hear the stylist at times. Otherwise, great tutorial!
I can't respect a guy that does this much to his hair on a routine basis.
I do this every other day minus the iron. Will I get some respect from you? :-)
I'm sure he's very glad you posted your feelings on this. He will understand that there's nothing to be done with you, now that he has lost your respect. Very helpful!

I'm oddly mesmerized by the way you hold your scissors. lol
Totally agree 😮
Big no-no for state board exams. Always palm your scissors, no flipping!
+Oliver Gaag I was taught to flip my scissors always in beauty school. Fellow hair dressers always comment on it but it's how I was taught and I passed my state boards just fine
you CAN hold your scissors like that. And no you definitely won't fail. My cosmo teacher taught for 20+ years and only taught students to flip not palm unlike other counties around us.

Thank you. I just learned more in that one video than I did in 11 months of a 14 thousand dollar Hair School, which gave me no experience what so ever in men's cuts or styles.
I totally agree! Great videos but the music is really not neccessary.
Hi Sylvia. Subscribe and watch our latest videos. This one is 2 years old. Our editing has improved a lot. Thanks

I've been using *Argan rain Shampoo and Argan Rain oil* for about three weeks now. It's gotten so thick, my growth is super and my hair feels amazing. I will buy again!
WHY IS THE MUSIC SO LOUD?
Yay ! finally a good complete tutorial about haircut and style and doesn't end badly ! Loved it from A to Z !
Great cut. I love watching your videos because of how well you explain things. However, the background music can be a little loud and make it difficult to hear when you're speaking. I was also wondering what gel you would recommend when setting men's hair. Which one did you use in this video? Looks fantastic.
save about 15 minutes by using an oster #2 or #1.5 and use a hand fade technique by pulling the clipper away from the head as you go up. takes some practice but well worth it. The effect will be less spotty on the transitions.
Thank you for watching!
my fiancé thought I was crazy to use a comb!!!! Thank you so much for this never really watched videos on how to cut hair lol
Esse foi o melhor turorial que encontrei aqui!!! Simplesmente maravilhoso, amanhã mesmo estarei no salão para fazer esse corte e penteado valeu!! This was the best turorial I found here! Simply wonderful, tomorrow I'll be in the same room to make this cut and hairstyle tanks!
If you pay attention, the hole at 3:35 is a scar and you can see it being a thinner area in the 10 seconds prior. . The stylist did not cut a hole. Use common sense, please
He should have been more aware of this and avoided exposing it. Looks like a cat's ass
SO GREAT
that round brush thing at the end made all the difference in the world. Im gonna get this cut once I grow out my hair a bit more
That was great. I especially liked the tips. This is one of the best hairstyling videos I've seen.
it always amuses me how awkward/depressed people look while getting their hair cut
This one was an instructional video. Getting your hair cut in a barber shop entails engagement in banter, slagging, sports, hunting, fishing, weather, news, scandals and who's yer wan that has just walked past the shop.
what do you want them to do start doing backflips
Mike c yes.
@@snipper1ie I prefer silence with no dreadful small talk
Excellent work your technic is awesome when you started using the scissors and swung the around so effortlessly between your last two fingers to your front two fingers oh man just brilliance I want to learn to cut to perfection like this thank you for posting this bro

.
My boyfriend used to rock full sideburns, and a pompadour in highschool. Although he now needs haircuts that meet AF regulations, {when he trusts me to cut his hair), I try to retain as much as the shape as I can. The comb technique is something new to try. Thanks for the Good video!
Thanks for this! I love this hairstyle and have only learned the basics of it thus far. This really helps break it down step by step.
He's so attractive ugh
That's nice looking. If I was bald I'd have my hair this way.
Wow that's an amazing tip for blowdrying the front. I use a round brush for my fringe but have been doing it the opposite way around.
Been doing this a for sometime now but the putting gel first then blow drying is definitely a helpful. Thanks for this video.
love all of your videos, they're so informative and when i need to be refreshed on a cut i always come to you guys! the only thing i would love to change is the music you play. maybe just play it over the parts you're not talking. when you're talking the music drowns out your voice, and it would be better to just hear your voice. thanks for the free education!
Hey Kellie! Thanks for the post. This is a really old video. We have created almost 400 videos since this one all of which do not have music playing the whole time. I would subscribe to our channel and start from the most recent. Thanks!
Oh wow, okay, thanks!! I'm exploring and watching a lot more videos right now :) love everything you're doing, and I've been subscribed, I just need to have more free time to get on UA-cam more! ;) thanks for the response :)

ㄢ_ㄢ__ㄢ_ㄢ_ㄢ__ㄢ_ㄢ_ㄢ
my god the guy sure is handsome
That flip with the scissors is nuts lol.
I have nvr seen anybody hold and cute hair with the scissors like you do. Nicole work and thanks for posting...
Did he cut a big chunk of hair off the back of the guy's head? There is a bald spot at 3:39.
NO Please watch this video and it will show you he has a scar. ua-cam.com/video/CfMhqb6hY_k/v-deo.html Thank you for asking though.
Free Salon Education thats right he has a scar
Hasije Beslaga my head full of scar so the barber should know that
dak85016 lol
NA DUDE. Start at 2:40-2:50 that shit is not their. He shows the back of his head and spins him around.
Worked that front piece in? No I think it is clearly still seperate. XD
I use Kasho Scissors and I really like them. I also like Hikari cosmos as well.
Thank you soooo much!! I have been trying to get a variation of this for days!! Thanks for the help!
yall are kidding, you know that it is a scar, not a haircut error.
your music is way too loud, i needed to hear you speak... and all i could hear was music
Awesome Maggie! Glad you enjoyed the cut
Awesome video... I had been styling my hair too wet. Off to purchase a dryer today :)
my hair is thick and hard to control, not sure if I can have this style
just ask your hairstylist to thin out your hair a bit.
Same here...
same here...I really want this hair style so bad but i have awful thick hair. If I use wax I need so much to cover all of it.
water based pomade. try it
ok, i got the haircut, it looked just like the model's hair for 1 week. Now my hair is thick again
On the back of his head that looks like a scar right or is it a bald spot it looks like a scar
This makes it super easy to cut and i can't wait to grow my top out longer to do this cut!
This video was unbelievably helpful!!
Keep up the good work, and thanks so much for posting educational videos like this!!
Sold, I'm getting this haircut.
Question: how do I ask for it?
Show a picture, or just tell them you want the pompadour haircut. I'm sure they'll know.
Say the hitler youth haircut please;)
Uh uh, if you whant a cut nearly as possible as this video you need someone who have at least 3 years of practicing.
*****
LOL obviously not xDD, 3 year of practicing "hair cutting" or in simple words an experienced barber.
ح
What are the measurements for this haircut and what do I tell my barber to get this haircut
measurements, tell them to use a number 1 on the clippers for the whole cut. Be very adamant about it as most of the barbers don't listen unless you're very adamant about this haircut.
Thank you for taking the time to make this video! I have to do this cut for a client tomorrow so thank you for the tutorial!!
Great detail in your tutorial! The end result isn't overly done looking, nor under done looking.
such an informative video!
Thanks!
-DAT MUSIC D:
Ya annoying
i was looking a good video where i can learn how to make a pompadour haircut, and i say i found the right video. nice and clean haircut. love it! i give you 1,000 likes. now i can try this on my two brothers.
whats the difference between cutting the lower sides and back with a comb/zero compared to simpley using a #1 or #2?
Nothing
He's trying to make it hard.. I would use #1, it all depends on how long the client wants his haircut.. and plus it would look even with #1 or #2..
The benefit to using the clipper over comb method as opposed the clippers with a guard is not all clients have a perfectly rounded head, and it's easier to create a natural tapering look around the hairline (like the barber did around the temple area of the client at 1:27). When you use clippers with a guard it will follow the exact shape of their head, which could possible have strange bumps or divots. When you use clipper over comb you are able to create a more even look as opposed to the hair just being the same length from scalp to ends no matter the head shape.
nothing hes trying to make it look harder...
lol Jigsjigz
THAT'S not a pompadour; Robt. Gordon's hair, circa. '70's-'80's, or early Little Richard/Esquerita, various eras of Link Wray.. - THOSE were pompadours.
good video! actually shows you how to style. all styling vids should be like this.
I gotta go to your barbershop to get my pompadour done! Very precise and very informative 👍🏻👏🏻
3:35 man hole ouch!!
why does it seem like this hair looks mostly good on white ppl (or ppl with soft hair...that isn't thick)
And straight.
Thanks for sharing this video, I have never thought to add gel then blow dry it. Sherrill Graff Boulder City NV
Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!I just learned a hot new hairstyle, time to cut, thanks, your an excellent teacher
dope
Thanks!
um.... was there supposed to be a huge bald spot cut in at 3:35???
It's probably a scar
It could be alopecia areata, which can leave coin sized bald spots on the head; it's more prevalent in men. But yes, the barber/hairstylist is blamed for these spots 9 times out of 10 ;)
I got the same thing and its not a alopecia areata, its a memory of my brother and a random brick he had in his hands that moment.
Looks like a small dot, probably a scar.
Muchas gracias por compartir, estoy estudiando y ya tome unos de tus tips.
Que dios te bendiga :)
looks great! love how you showed in depth how to style it
Looks like a mole... That's why it's so round. If he did it with the clippers it would be more of a straight Line.
Did you mean to cut a hole in the back... lol
He didn't cut a hole. The hole was there and was covered by the longer hair around it. This happens when you hit your head and need stitches. Hair no longer grows where the cut in your skin was.
This a client of mine in the salon and I cut his hair every week so to let you know this is def. a scar. To really clear this up I have done another youtube video using him as a haircut model and he has the same scar. here is the link: ua-cam.com/video/LDlIu8WroEc/v-deo.htmlm2s
thanks! such a better way to even everything out than most videos we have watched
Perfect haircut for him! He rocks that style! Awesome! great job guys!
I wany this guy to cut my hair. Lol
me too lol
Too bad everyone who cuts hair around here only knows a buzz cut.
yeah
I love that cut!! Thanks for sharing video and tips for men's cuts.
Love it! Going to use this haircut for an interview tomorrow
Gel on a Pompadour? seriously.... USE POMADE MAN!
***** Embcii Bee pomade basically made by oil and if you had dry hair its fine, but if you using pomade on the other way condition it can damaged your skin head. so you can use gel for the same wet look as pomade or cream with soft texture. Don't use wax it too much dry in your hair :)
+Embcii Bee yup + gel dry the hair badly
+Dragos P. chances are you probably won't even need anything, try pomping it alone
This young man is doing a great haircut, but the way he is holding his hands whilel cutting, he will not last long, holding the hands palm to palm will save his wrist, bending his wrist like he is will lead to surgery in the future that could put him out of work...I've cut hair for 54 years, this is a lesson shown to me before I got to the point of surgery!!
+Barbara Apon how can you do palm to palm using a clipper and comb? I've never seen that before and would like to learn....
Awesome Glad you liked it!
Es de gran ayuda contar con profecionales compartiendo sus tecnicas para quienes Estamos empezando en este mundo de la belleza.
The music is ugly and distracting, get rid of it. Overal nice video.
That isn't a pompadour. You have skill but classic cuts are classic cuts and thats not one of them.
Well said!
It's a modern pompadour. Just like when girls say they're getting a modern version of a shag haircut or of a Dorothy Hamill cut or Farrah Fawcett Style. Hairstyles evolve and this is the current idea of what a 21st century pompadour looks like.
did a great job on his quiff. Wishing I had that dryer!
Nice cut,but that isnt a pompadour
Hahaha thank you someone knows xD
That’s just a slick back
I swear you cosmos make it harder then what it is. Use a fucking 1 1/2 and call it a fucking day! Jesus! *facepalm
So great!
thanks dude the exact cut I was looking for , ty so much you are very good
Excellent use of the scissor and comb in the hand.
You sir, are an amazing barber. Thank you for this tutorial!
I wish I had straight hair like that. Awesome haircut.
Quedo perfecto!! me encantó!

Awesome thanks! I will adjust the music next time
I need to show this video to every barber I've been going. No one has done it right
Thank you!
Nice change from the women’s cuts and styles. You never disappoint! 👍🏻👏🏻
Thanks I LOVE Mens hair. Cool tips & tricks :)
That’s a nice trick, the one front tease to hair; thanks bro!
This was an incredible tutorial. Thank you very much!
