      Excellent! Good to see you're working on Level 2 already. Pay particular attention to topics which are new to L2, such as the introduction of algebra and calculating the original amount following a percentage change. As well as coordinates, imperial measurements and circles.

    I have a level 2 Functional Skills Maths exam on the 24th of January, and I have to say your videos are helping a great deal. I'm feeling far more confident than before and with watching your guides I managed to pass my mock exam so hopefully, all goes well with the real thing.

      Hi, you've still got time to get in more practice. Although you may be sitting L2, sometimes it's good to practice going through an L1 paper. Firstly this can give yourself a bit of a break if you are feeling a bit drained of L2 but it also means you can concentrate on how you answer the questions and making sure you put everything the examiner wants to see. It should help boost your confidence too.

    I love your videos, i used them all last year and they helped me pass level 2! I am re taking my GCSE Edexcel Maths foundation in November and i cant find any past papers ahh

      Hi Lily, well done on passing L2. I have done the November 2018 foundation papers (1 - 3) but that's all for GCSE so far, you can find them in the GCSE past paper playlist. I do plan to do more but just not sure when. If you subscribe to my channel you will be notified when new papers are posted, hopefully in the not too distant future.

      Hi Maria, glad you like the videos. If you find you're getting stuck on questions from similar topics then we'll worth revisiting them either with a textbook or more specific revision. However, if you're finding you're able to at least attempt most of the questions then practice papers is a great way to go. If the exam board you're due to use is Edexcel you can still use the City & Guilds papers to add to your selection to practice with. There are some differences in what's included but not too many.

    Hello Simon thank you for your videos.Very helpful I'm gaining confidence everyday..Please tell me what I can do to pass first time.Mind I'm rubbish at maths.Thank you for your advice whatever that maybe

      Thanks for your comments. I'm assuming you need L2 maths but if you haven't done much maths for a while you may find it helps to look at L1 first to improve all your key skills, fractions/percentages/decimals, ratio, area, etc. Do use other resources as well as just these videos so you can make sure you cover the full syllabus. You can get quite good textbooks, which aren't too expensive, to make sure you are familiar with all the different areas you need to know. Best of luck!

      Hi Tony, thanks for your comments. Unfortunately I only create videos for papers that are publicly available, so when this is released on the Edexcel website I'll do it. However, in the meantime for Pearson Edexcel Level 2 you have 4 past papers, 3 practice papers and a sample paper. All of these can be found in the Pearson/Edexcel L2 playlist. And if you get through all of them you can always try the C&G ones. they may be a different format but are still good practice.

      Try to replicate exam conditions in practice. The panic might still happen but if you you're expecting it and have some techniques to manage it that should help. Don't feel you have to rush into the paper, read through and have a plan first then when you start writing, hopefully you'll be feeling a bit calmer. Best of luck!

    On question 7 in the calculator paper, why did you divide everything by 2?
    2 was the first one, but the rest of them didn't have a frequency of 2.

      It's nothing to do with the frequency, it's to do with finding the mid-point of each group, half-way between the smallest and largest value. the way we do that is to add them together and divide by 2. To see how this works, use the second group as ana example, all the values in that group would be, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30. If you then imagine you're finding the middle value (in this case it's also the median) so cross off the smallest and largest, and keep going until there's one left in the middle. It will be 23, which you can also get from (16 + 30) / 2.

      Yes, these are the latest papers publicly available. There are 3 past papers on their website but unfortunately they're locked. If you have a tutor they should be able to provide you with them.

    I have a question, could some please explain why in question 3c we don't multiply 3 by 8?

      We need to get both fractions to have the same denominator. The smallest number that both 5 and 8 go into (LCM) is 40. To go from 5 to 40 we need to multiply by 8, so we multiply the top and bottom by 8 to get 32/40. For the second fraction we still want to get the same denominator of 40 but to get from 8 to 40 we need to multiply by 5. So we multiply the top and bottom of the second fraction by 5 to get 15/40. If we multiplied both fractions by the same number then we would still have different denominators, which isn't going to help us do the subtraction.

      These multi-part questions can be really challenging. You could try be writing down the steps before you start:
      - You need to work out the median
      - Calculate the width of 6 pairs
      - Calculate 10% of the total width
      - Add on the 10% to the original
      - Add 6cm to the last answer (3cm at each end)
      - Is this total less than (or equal to) 127cm?
