HI! I have a question about activity 8. James has to paint the OUTSIDE surfaces of the water tank. I didn't consider the floor of the tank as an outside surface. Would that be taken as a wrong answer?
I'd say yes, if you didn't count the floor of the tank in your calculations, the answer you have would be wrong. You'd probably gain some marks for your working out though.
Harsh reality of life, some are innately good at math, some aren’t. There are way too many nuances, even in basic math concepts, which confuse people. Depending what job you want to pursue the level of math required should differ; most of these calculation are irrelevant to modern day life. As a person who has struggled throughout life with math, change needs to happen on the educational front. I’ve had many one-to-one lessons with tutors and nothing really sticks mathematically for myself, probably a learning disability I have. But every other subject is fine, so am I supposed to suffer employment wise because my math education is not there? That’s truly harsh from my perspective.
I totally agree Anon. I think change is needed but that will take time. Have you considered going for an assessment to work your if there is a learning difficulty hindering progress? That way, you also get some extra time in the exam. Also, when you've done maths one to one, did you feel like you understood the concepts in the first place?
Your answer for question 5 is wrong. The mass of the concrete is 1,622.88. You used the wrong value for density (2300). Density is 2300 per M3, making density 2300 x 0.84 = 1932.
Thanks for your feedback. I've made separate videos for each topic, where I go more in depth. When I make these practice paper walthroughs, I cannot go through everything in detail as it would take forever. Will bear your feedback in mind for future videos though.
Thank you so much, this is what i have been struggling with. helpful!
