It's remarkable to see a show going from network TV, to direct to DVD, then cable and finally streaming services. Most long running TV series maintain their presence in the same place.
DVD will never die..Although many are optimistic,, facts is, not everything IS and will be available on streaming for a long as these big shots are scared of piracy..... as the root of the problem, so there is nothing to worry about. Its just one huge stereotype that convince everyone "everything goes on"

I know people have been complaining about each revival not being as good as the original since they started but as someone who has been watching since day 1 I submit that the show has always been 10/10 on average and I will welcome each and every time they decide to bring it back. Each episode of Futurama is a gift (just like "It was a Sh*t Show)!
I should rewatch the Comedy Central seasons. I don’t think it’ll be as good, but there’s probably some other stuff I overlooked initially. I forgot Bender’s “Let’s go, _already!”_ came from those seasons. It fits him so perfectly I could imagine it being part of the original run. One of my favourites lines from the Hulu season is when Mom thanks people (in a town hall setting) for letting “Momazon” be part of their “community”, and an audience member responds, “Why don’t you go to Hell and be part of that community?” Must’ve laughed for a solid minute, and I’m still laughing now, lol.
That's why The Late Phillip J. Fry sticks out so much, that episode helps me appreciate not only the time we have now, but the time we have with the show, as it might end after the next 20 episodes.
I love the use of oxymorons with "every way you can interpret" and "very definition," and "hidden" and "Futurama' to come to think of it- but love the positivity and am all for sharing Futurama love!
Newest FUTURAMA episodes are okay and feels like the writers havent quite gotten their feet under them yet. It feels a lot like season 1 where it was fine and showed some potential but its not quite there yet.
It really felt like they were playing it save and tried to cram all the stuff in it they missed the past years. Really looking forward to the next seasons though.

Not gonna lie, I actually liked the most recent Hulu season! "The Temp" and "Attack of the Clothes" were hilarious episodes. It's best to maybe treat this new era of the show to be like an epilogue of sorts - little extra bits of what otherwise felt like a complete story
My main problem was with the characterisation, I really don't mind topical episodes, I just wish that Leela's intensity and work ethic were more present, that Fry was still curious and would wander around instead of standing there saying dumb things, that Bender's apathy was more clearly contrasted with his insecurities... Season 6 has some solid showcase episodes for each of the main cast, these past two seasons just seem to be missing that and going more for spectacle than legitimate character development. The best episodes of the new seasons were the ones where nothing much happened other than the crew hanging out, like the book club episode.
I really love the voice actor appreciation near the end of this video. They’re literally a vital to the entertainment industry & it always sucks to see them get walked all over by studios who don’t respect them
Whenever i meet a cast member from the show, whether it's Maurice LeMarche or Billy West at a comic con, i always tell them thank you immediately. They're exactly the reasons why people watch it.

I started being a "Futurama" fan when Cartoon Network's "Adult Swim" had the show because I messed out on the initial Fox run, but I really liked the show that I stuck around until the paywall which is Hulu had it… but like "Spaceballs"(1987) I STILL love it today!!
The hulu era of futurama just feels like it relies too heavily on the whole "Hey here's a modern thing from 2024, isn't it so quirky that we're parodying it in 3000?" and that's the only kind of humor it has. It feels like it doesn't know how to make the jokes it used to.

Thanks for talking about the rise of adult swim and Cartoon Network with family guy and futurama. That’s how most kids like me at the time discovered these shows. Staying up past bedtime after 8 discovering these shows. God it was great to be kid during that tv cartoon era.
When it comes to Futurama, I preferred watching it on DVD as there was always so many bonus features that kept it fresh. The commentary tracks alone were worth the money. As for streaming, I can't say as I care for it beyond sites like UA-cam. Physical media will always be better as far as I'm concerned and I'm not interested in paying monthly subscription fees.
I guess, but with the UA-cam nowadays, it's become less of a reason more and more NOT to get the DVD.. Most of the behind the scenes stuff is on UA-cam anyway...... While there is some things that aren't. the trade off's are well worth it, based on "What" you get. I recon.

People need to know/remember that voice actors are more than just the sound of their voice, they get inspired from real life events and people and use that inspiration to create something special. Peter Cullen had an important conversation with his brother after getting the role of Optimus Prime that helped shape the character that we know and love. But I've seen someone in the comments of a different youtube video celebrating the idea of AI making every Optimus sound like Peter Cullen.... AI doing all the voice acting just seems so.... empty. That's where things are going.... and it's so fucking depressing.

It feels like the budget is even lower for the Hulu reboot. I love how the first episode aired right during the strike and was a merciless criticism of how overworked and underrespected writers and actors are. I have faith in it and think theres still lots of killer episodes, excited what happens as we enter a season where they can make a truly living LA wage.
The topical stuff isn't funny, and makes no sense since its suppose to be a futuristic setting. It's just hack "writers" venting when they should be making a comedy. AI taking over is a blessing.

I distinctly remember being 7 years old in 2004, and my sister and I shared a room together and we had a tv in our room. I remember wanting to watch Cartoon Network and tuning to it. That’s when I learned adult swim exists. And the first part of futurama I saw was then. I think that it was a re-run. I only saw a few seconds because the first character I saw was Leela and I remember getting scared from the cyclops. I turned it off and that’s why I never got into futurama despite constant suggestions from friends, until 4 or 5 years ago as an adult. Getting over leelas eye was tough, but I did and now it’s one of my favorite shows. ❤😂
Really hope the next season is more on par with the older stuff. Just seemed like the episodes were more about current topics vs creative original stories.
I remember when j first started watching this a few years ago my dad was shocked he said i remember when that. First aired and couldn’t believe there was seasons he hadn’t seen yet as he was a big fan of them so he caught up on a few season last year

I turned it off and that’s why I never got into futurama despite constant suggestions from friends, until 4 or 5 years ago as an adult. Getting over leelas eye was tough, but I did and now it’s one of my favorite shows. ❤😂

Fun! I didn't know about the last revival. I'm gonna look for it. Only issue is I spend most of my time on youtube now, not watching shows.
Really hope the next season is more on par with the older stuff. Just seemed like the episodes were more about current topics vs creative original stories.

to me the ending of "meanwhile" was a perfect conclusion to the series, ending on a timeloop.

I remember when j first started watching this a few years ago my dad was shocked he said i remember when that. First aired and couldn’t believe there was seasons he hadn’t seen yet as he was a big fan of them so he caught up on a few season last year
