Wow marvelous great job.
Thank you very much!
I can't thank you enough for this explanation! You literally make me more excited about writing, but I have just one big broblem which is lack of vocabulary in academic English. What should I do in this case, dear professor?
Great question! I don’t think you should worry about using academic vocabulary in your writing too much because the most important thing with writing is that you have a good, interesting argument with strong ideas to support your argument, and the organization of your writing is clear. That means a clearly organized essay with clear sentences. Using academic vocabulary is just a bonus, and sometimes people try to hard to use fancy vocabulary, which can make their writing sound strange. The best way to improve your academic vocabulary is to read and to learn the academic word list. Do you know about the academic word list? You can Google it and find it online. Those are the most common words that are used in academic English.
@@LearnAcademicEnglish Thank you a million! Honestly, I never heard of the academic word list, but I am going to search for it right now. I appreciate your help, dear professor.
woow this was so amazing... have been having issues a lot with writing my assignments. but this video has helped point me in the right direction .am going to try follow the steps you've showed..
though have one question if u've been asked to define and discuss how do someone go about that?
Good question. Definition essays can be tricky. Hopefully you have already brainstormed ideas and made an outline to help you see your overall organization. Now, look at the ideas that you will talk about in your body paragraphs. What is the overall idea? For example, do you explain a word in different ways? Do you show that the word is difficult to define? You can make a thesis based on that: While X is an important concept, it can be difficult to define. or X can be defined by looking at it from three different perspectives.
Hopefully those examples give you some ideas of how to proceed. Good luck!
Very surprising😮🎉🎉🎉🎉
Glad you learned something new!
Could you please explain analysis of non ficional texts

I should have just married an English teacher 😂 Writing is so tough for me I decided to go back to college at 37 and I'm definitely out of touch with writing papers.
Don't worry, it gets easier with time and practice! I have had many students in their 50s, 60s, even 70s who learn to write essays. I think it's helpful to look at good example essays and think about what makes them clear.
37 ?? I'm 43 and I failed my first english class. The next semester I Withdrew from the class. It's going to be hard for me to write an good essay. But im willing to give it a try
@@pantera7086 Don't give up! You can do it. I have had students in their 50s and 60s who have been able to learn this. Use all the support services available to students at your school--tutoring, etc. :)
It looks your writing is good enough

Thank you… I Wed a lot of help😢
Glad I could help. What kind of help do you need?
Muito Obrigado
De nada! ☺
prof, can you help to teach about how to write an abstract from the article?
I have a video about how to write a summary, which is similar to an abstract. I think you can learn how to write a summary and then look at abstracts and see how to adapt it. :). ua-cam.com/video/bhtz7RSaKlc/v-deo.html
Hi dear jeena, 1)regular exercising is the best habit (adjective+gerund) 2) a/the regular exercising is the best habit (changed into a verbal noun). Is the second sentence correct? In addition to that I would like you tell me it's possible or not if a gerund is turned into a verbal noun forcefully with any random words, is it possible or not??
I don't understand your last question, but the second sentence is not correct. In most cases, we don't use an article with a gerund.
❤❤❤
Improving your writing needs everyday practice
You're right. Regular practice makes a huge difference.

How can I write an introduction and background of this report?
Sorry but I am not sure as I don’t know enough about the topic. Try to think of an interesting question to start the intro to hook your reader’s attention
Is it important to paraphrase the prompt in the introduction?
Thank you.
Sometimes paraphrasing the prompt in the introduction looks like lazy writing, and for that reason. teachers or others who evaluate writing don't like when the prompt is repeated or paraphrased in the introduction. However, usually the thesis statement has some words from the prompt in it. I have a couple of videos on thesis statements that might be helpful.
❤
Tnaks a lot dear professor !

How do I begin to write an assignment?
Good question! Sometimes getting started is the hardest part.
The first step is to take the question or assignment that your teacher gave you and sit down with a piece of paper. Brainstorm ideas. Write down every idea that you have for at least 10 minutes. Here's a video about that: ua-cam.com/video/v7zMCOsEBU8/v-deo.html
After that, look at the ideas and think about how you can organize them into paragraphs. Remember that the most important thing is to answer the question that your teacher gave you.
After you know what ideas you will take about, you need to make a thesis statement and start writing your paragraphs. Remember that all your paragraphs must be connected to your thesis statement.
I hope that helps. Good luck! ❤
Ok pls write about learn that like phone❤🎉😢😊
👍👍........ good evening ma'am, I call upon you the following sentences be explained. "Get/have+object+ing" means make someone or something start. I will get you to finish this project/I will have you finish this project. Should I write this sentence like this I will get/have you finishing this project , Are both fine? As far as I am concerned sometimes these are interchangeable. Let's take another example 2) I got you to pay my money/I had you pay my money if it's written like this I got/had you paying my money. In one word I would like to say to you where I utilise get+obj+to+v1/have+obj+bare infinitive, at the same place can I use get/have+object+ing?? Native speakers use this structure a lot (get/have+object+ing). Thank thee.
get/have+object+ing is not correct in the examples that you mentioned. I have a video about causative verbs and passive causative: ua-cam.com/video/hAtdhapTOcQ/v-deo.html and ua-cam.com/video/AY1vVhCznJ4/v-deo.html
@@LearnAcademicEnglish dear ma'am, I did watch your video made on causative verbs. Thanks a bunch for working it out. But would you mind explaining this sentence?? ""Now and then I think of all the times you screwed me over but had me believing it was always something that I have done."" Why is "had+object+ing" used in that sentence by that singer?? The song name is "somebody that I used to know sung by gotye ft kimbra.
Good question! I'm not sure why that one is like that. It's probably a simple answer, but my brain can't figure it out right now. I will try to find out and will let you know if I get an answer.
@@LearnAcademicEnglish 👍👍 okay ma'am. Some days ago,I searched on Google. Google says sometimes you can use "have+object+ing" where you use "have+object+bare infinitive". There is no difference about meanings. Another definition is when something that was happening, is happening, will be happening or something is continuous at that time "have+object+ing" can be used. I guess that's why it's used like that or sometimes native speakers use informal English. Barring that if you search in Cambridge English dictionary, it shows that both "get+object+ing" and "get+object+infinitive" have similar meanings.
Very good girl
hello dear. your vdeos is helpfull for me. 'I;m 70 years old from Lebanon. If you do a favor for me by sending some exams types of essays . So i can go theough to get experience in my coming secondary exams.thanks a lot
You can practice with some of these topics: docs.google.com/document/d/1HH1b2EzrrAE0flchWVcwKQFRgjtDae5YTk1OPfhLOxc/edit?usp=sharing
About the homeless problem, who pays for the shelter?
Good question! I'm not an expert on this topic, but my students write a research essay about this every semester. Most of the money comes from federal funds (the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development) with special funds that are designed specifically to target that issue. You can think that it comes from taxpayers, but of course it's not that simple because sometimes money will be diverted from one source to another, so taxes don't have to go up to pay for homeless shelters.
@@LearnAcademicEnglish Thank you for the information! Watching your video made me want to learn how to tell where that money comes from, and who Decides where it’s taken from.

Would be a great resource if were for the feminism overtones
Not a learning resource for men of any age
I suppose you're referring to the one example introduction about changing expectations of marriage in Asia. That was ONE introduction and is an example written by a student. I didn't know that discussing women working or women choosing their mate (instead of their parents choosing) was feminist...or maybe it's 1965...?
