Before he turned off the comments, all he did was give a canned response to all those criticizing him, saying, "Another brilliant response from the losing side" or give a vulgar tirade claiming everyone that critiqued him was wrong. Like a coward, he turned off the responses when he was getting his behind handed to him on the scientific front as well.

Most people believe that being a professor is a binary thing. You are either a professor, or you're not. But they're wrong. Being a professor is on a spectrum, and professor Dave is apparently at the very lowest end of the spectrum. In fact I think that Professor Dave is not even as high on the spectrum, as the professor on Gilligan's Island. You don't see Professor Dave making a radio out of half a coconut and couple of wires. I think that Professor Dave might actually be a Transprofessor. He identifies as a professor, so therefore he must be one, because only professors can identify what a professor actually is.

This is the best comment. I remember when science was the pursuit of understanding driven by curiosity - it was the desire to know more. If you start from the position of knowing much about everything, then science is worthless to you, apart from a stroke of the ego. When we realize, humbly, how little we understand, as well as our limited capability to understand, we can begin a true pursuit of knowledge.

You're arguing with Dave's own facts. Also, Dave started his channel in 2014, so if he began teaching 10 years prior, he wouldn't have even had a BA yet, making him a "professor" in the same way I'm a chef when I make a bowl of cereal.

Science shows that Gender identity can be different from biological sex, due to a specific physical brain region. Simple.
It doesn't imply physically impossible reproductive rights.
Prof. Dave "identifies" as a professor and Ph.D., though objectively he's an M.A. in education. However, through the power of affirmation, he now is a real professor.
A professor is simply someone who professes something. You can be a teacher without ever getting a formal education.
The idea someone needs a PHD to teach is just a road block artificially created to limit the supply of educators and boost salaries for them.

crazy how science evolves right? Gravity is also a matter of discussion the past few years. Quantum computers, what a topic. You see, as science advances and we become aware of more things about our own physiology and about our cosmos it is only natural that some of those findings will disturb people who want to stick to some bible correct explenation or some 1950's psychology dogma. That's the lovely thing about science. It is not a debate. Science is close to the truth and you are ignorant. it is as simple as that.

I'll tell you what woman is! I'm second to the youngest of 7 kids. My father died when I was 4. It was my mom that raised 7 kids, 5 boys and two girls by herself. She was born in 1927 and had a tough life. She worked everyday of her adult life to provide a better life for her children. She bought her house in 1971 on her own without any help. We were poor, but I didn't feel poor. She was the best darn cook I've ever known, and we never went to bed hungry. What I remember most of my mom was her telling me to not be a lazy guy, and what is to be a man and be strong. She was 5 ft tall, but was tougher than any person I've ever known. She was a beautiful lady, and she always dressed modest but classy, and respectful. The epitome of what a woman is, my mom! 🍲🥧☕🙏🕊️🇺🇸

it's called math ... if you go from 1 to 60, it's 6000% increase. Small numbers when by not that many compared to the whole subset (in this case, millions). One could use your same argument for why "suddenly" we had so many more "left handed people" back in the day. But it was simply a fact of people not being punished for being left handed, so they identified as left handed more easily. It's very likely we either having a leveling off, or at this rate of expansion we are all gay by 2060 ... I'm guessing things level off or if people are harassed like we have seen ramp up in the last year or two, it decreases as it's legally precarious to be trans.

The Institut für Sexualwissenschaft was a german nonprofit institut to reseach gender identity, sexuality and other related topics. It was foundet in 1919 and stood in berlin. It was the first of its kind. 1933 the Nazis burned it down. Trans and gay people where put in conzentration camps becouse they thought that Trans people where unnatural, sick individualy, child predators and other fearmongering adjectives. Most of them died next to other camp inmates like retards, POWs, political prisoners and jews.
If you realy think that "transness and woke leftism" is a ideology but can see that you are part of another then at least choose one that has different views then the Nazis.

I used to identify as transgender, and now, after really delving into myself and discovering who I'm 'comfortable' with being, it wasn't whoever that 'transgender person' was. It was who I was born as, and I can confirm, and I do agree with everything that Matt says after "experiencing both sides", and obviously finding out which was the more sensible side;
the one that could define a woman.
B-but... Dave said being trans is caused by a vaguely-defined "neurochemical profile" which is biological and genetic in basis. If you stopped being trans that means you either changed your biological makeup and genes or... Dave was wrong?? 😵

If you care, what you described is the sex definition of what a women is. There is also the gender definition.

@@Joel-uv5tg well friend, that is what is called an anomaly and it doesn't change the DNA. They are still male while having som3 physical characteristics of a female though. This is why DNA is the best indicator for sex. I wouldn't group people that think they're female with this small minority of people.

the infuriating thing is they don't even attempt to make any definition. the right does make the mistake in trying to absolutely define it though. the term is in reality as are nearly all words quite vague but in practice "work good enough" even if not perfect. but these people don't even make a super complicated definition or even an attempt at a wrong one. you can self identify already has lots of things. like "a musician" or "a gamer" or many other things but just because you get to self identify as these things does not mean they don't have definitions even if the definition can change from person to person it is still a definition.

He's been searching since about 1989, starting with a failed attempt to find correlation in the INAH 1. In 1995, he and a team did find a correlation in the volume of the central subdivision of the bed nucleus of the stria terminalis (BSTc) using a small sample size of 6 MtF cadavers, all 6 of which identified as "nonhomosexual" (autogynephilic), all 6 had been treated with hormones, and 5/6 were castrated. So there were no controls for any of these variables and later research (Hulshoff Pol et al. 2006) concluded that hormones are what affect BSTc size, regardless of TS identity.
This is probably why, in 2007, Swaab then began instead looking for correlations in the INAH-3, which his previous paper has already concluded "did not meet these criteria". This time he and a team studied 10 MtF cadavers, again all of which had been taking hormones and 8/10 were castrated. But at least they theoretically controlled for hormones this time by having a control group of castrated (cis) males. But here's where it gets ridiculous: In order to study a microscopic nucleus like the INAH-3, you have to slice it, stain it, and then manually estimate the edges. 4 of the 10 test subjects could not be measured due to a staining error. Instead of removing them from the data, the team calculated their INAH-3 volume to be 0. You can see this in the paper. They include 4 zeros in the MtF group and then conclude that their mean volume was significantly lower than the control (castrated) group, despite the fact that without those 4 zeros, the means were practically identical.
I don't have anything against Swaab. He has some serious sampling errors, and he admits to HARKing (gathering data and then trying to formulate a hypothesis from the data. On the surface, it seems valid, but it's a deceptively simple fallacy which has been compared to shooting a shotgun at a wall, then drawing bullseyes on the holes and calling yourself a sharpshooter) The errors are probably why it's never been replicated, but I still think it's valuable work. The real problem is people cherry picking his research like it's concrete proof of the things they want to believe when the science is still very much undecided on what causes gender identity. Evidence currently points away from BSTc and INAH-3.

The very first sentence in the Wikipedia article: "Transgender people have a gender identity or gender expression that differs from the sex that they were assigned at birth." Then, the very first sentence from even WebMD: "Transgender is a general term that describes people whose gender identity, or their internal sense of being male, female, or something else, does not match the sex they were assigned at birth."
The gender ideologists push this type of language very hard, which is why they can't be taken very seriously when they claim to acknowledge a difference between sex and gender. I’ve been a fan of Professor Dave for a long time. He’s been getting progressively worse with his political ideologies slipping into his otherwise science content. He’s had to shut the comments off on more than one video due to getting slammed both in the video & the comments. He doesn’t take being proven wrong very well.
Which is unfortunate, since when talking pure science he's a pretty solid communicator.
My experience with academics has always been that. They, for the most part, cannot take criticism well. It is a belief in their own superiority. I hd maybe three professors who were worth a damn. An older gentleman that taught Latin & Classics and avoided other topics as outside his wheelhouse. A Russian that taught poli sci who was hilarious and self deprecating. And a History professor that taught a “History of the Vietnam War” class and was thrilled to have two vets in his class. He loved to defer to them when ever he could as subject matter experts, really humble guy.

What we are seeing today is not cultural evolution, it is the usurping of language towards a manufactured agenda.
People may not realize it, but this linguistic coup is impacting their lives in ways they can't imagine. It actually has a direct and tangible impact on things like inflation and cost of living as corporations spend more money on trying to adapt to or account for these dramatic and random shifts in Western ideology. The main question that this all comes back to is if biology is not the standard from which "gender" is derived then what is? What is the objective criteria from which it is derived?
Saying "gender is a social construct" doesn't work as an argument because many social constructs are arbitrary, relative and subjective. This is the root of the transgenderism philosophy, it is an ideology rooted in secularism, it rejects objective truth.
I'm not a conservative, but I have plenty of conservative friends. Not a single one of them hates or is afraid of transgender people.
I'm a staunch conservative. My best friend is a liberal bisexual girl. I've never once felt the need to distance myself from anyone as long as we are civil and bond in other ways.

Same here. I'm more moderate than anything but my whole family is conservative and nobody really gives a damn about who you screw or what you wear. They just don't like children being exposed to it or biological women being cheated by allowing transwomen, who are built like men, compete in the same sports leagues as them. It's crazy that people have the nerve to pretend that we're denying their rights as human beings by having these opinions. Just another twisted form of entitlement.

I’m not as educated on this topic as either of you, but I can’t imagine an argument strong enough that would convince me that gender ideology should be pushed on children, since most adults can’t even grasp the concept. I noticed he conveniently dodged that entire subject though.
You don’t need to be educated on the subject, you know what a man is, what a woman is, you know children are innocent and easily moulded. These are facts we need to remember this.
