      Hi Bernadette, please don't take this the wrong way. I am a 56 year old woman, so not after anything. I always have been "half a guy", hanging out with men, could not relate to women. I could not care less about looks nor fashion. Though somewhere last year I wanted to learn how to sew, and over Rachel Maksy I found you. Honestly, I don't think I ever will be able to sew like you, though I LOVE the things you make. Like this blue outfit, just perfect! I just want to tell you, I think you are the most beautiful and feminine women I have ever seen. I am blown away by you, your looks, how you move, how you speak, who you are. You make me want to be more of a woman, (not saying that will ever happen), for you are an example of how a real woman should be, to me. Thank you for all, and I wish you a wonderful time! Much love! 💖

I drool at the data possibilities), 2) It's INREDIBLE to see how knowledge you built doing historical sewing leant itself so spectacularly to this kind of fantastical application (building on the foundations of history!), 3) It turned out AMAZING!!!!

I love how you dress and style your long locks! Best wishes from Omaha, Nebraska! 🤗💖 P.S. My 1st cousin's wife mailed to me a photographic portrait from circa 1907. It is of a young woman who was my nana's older sister. She lived from 1888 to 1906, and sadly died at age 17, due to diabetes. 😢 She was truly gorgeous and the portrait is stunning! It reminds me of the doppleganger video you made of your sister! 💕💕

    I appreciate the info on pineapple leather; I can't stand plastic-based pleather and that was on the consideration list as a substitute for an upcoming project. Currently waffling between using real leather or wool broadcloth, but it's for a cosplay I want to compete with so I may need to use hides.

    • @TheMimzez
      @TheMimzez 2 роки тому +15

      I looked into them a while ago for my own leatherworking. I was really hoping this wasn't going to be the case, but unfortunately, both pineapple leather and MuSkin (mycelium based leather) have plastic in them. they are something between 50 and 70 percent plastic. they advertise it as "biodegradable", but only the percentage that isn't plastic is biodegradable. they have that info on their respective websites, though it is far enough down the page to be hidden to those who don't look too closely
      they say that they are working on reducing the plastic content in them, but for now they're still more than half plastic :(

    • @e.s.r5809

      If it'd suit the finish, fish leather is strong, typically easier to work with and cheaper than cowhide, and you can hand wash it in water. Obviously it's still leather, so the ethics are... dubious. It's usually a byproduct from farming common species for food.
      Although it seems global demand for beef has gone up, but people are simultaneously avoiding leather out of concern for the environment. Meaning more cows are slaughtered but their skins are just getting wasted. So.
      (Editing to add, I looked it up out of curiosity, there may be one source of relatively ethical leather recommended by conservation groups. Wild-caught deerhide, apparently, from any country where humans decimated their predator populations and responsible hunting became necessary. Looks hard to source though, probably because wild animals don't provide perfect unblemished leather.)

      Another HUGE issue with pineapple leather is that it has been stolen from Indigineous people and patented so they aren't legally allowed to create the very product they invented. Just cuz something is vegan doesn't make it ethical if it harms people still.

Made up in fabrics as you did, I’m sure it could have some sleeves and a bolero attached and coming out from the main body of it to make it a longer bolero or jacket which I know my 21 year old granddaughter would love as part of evening wear, I’m sure it would look just as spectacular and something you can’t just buy ❤️
    OMG, can you imagine it being made in white or ivory (or any colour required) as part of a wedding dress 😮. For someone who is a massive fan of the series it would be as spectacular as the dress and bolero are, to have them for a wedding dress.
