I'm currently a web designer right now and planning to move on ux/ui designer. Taking online classes after work, and this kind of videos help me understand all the process in designing aspect. appreciate it!
I absolutely loved this video. It was packed with an incredible amount of helpful information and the way you deliver it too is clear & concise. On top of that I'm a huge self care enthusiast myself so the project itself resonates completely with me.
You are a lifesaver!!!! Of course, I checked other UA-camr's videos, yours is the best! They talk in a quite general way, so I still don't understand how to apply to my work. Thank you so much!
@@MaddyBeard Can you make a video about how you present the task you get during the interview? what should I do or involve to make my presentation more interesting than other candidates? I absolutely love the way you teach and talk, organized, logical, convincing! Plz keep updating videos!
Hi Maddy, thanks so much for your videos! There are really helpful! I have a question though. On your recruiting post, do you say that you're conducting the interviews as part of your UX portfolio, including telling that you're designing for a new app (but not specific to diffuser app)? I'm still not sure about how general I should explain about the study without discovering too much & end up leading their answers, but at the same time want to give some ideas so they won't get confused about the purpose of the research. If you don't mind, I'd really appreciate it if you'd like to share your copywriting on your recruiting post, too. Thanks, Maddy! :)
This is a great video! Very informative. I'm currently working on my first project for my portfolio. Would to meet some other designers to learn from and bounce ideas off of :)
These are awesome suggestions! I'll definitely keep these in mind. But just FYI I use Adobe Xd so that's what the videos would feature :) Thanks for the ideas!
Hey Maddy, very insightful series :) I don't know much about oil diffusers, so 'm curious if the concept you have can be used with specific models of oil diffusers? Or would a special oil diffuser need to be created for it?
Good question! It would definitely take a diffuser that was engineered with this concept in mind. Funny enough, I was approached by a company who is manufacturing something similar and needed a designer to lead the charge on the app! They saw this case study and asked to work with me(!!!) So if all goes well, I'll be sharing that *REAL* version of this project sometime in the future when it launches :)
How can I learn about all the stages need to be considered when starting a UX project? There are other methods that can be used when working on UX projects?
Hi :) Thanks for a great video :) I have a question, you said that we should design our recruiting process as well. What does it mean in this case? Because if I understood you correctly you made some Google docs survey and collected data (email, age etc) about your potential users and then you reached out some of them (12 people) by email or something like that to have a face-to-face or zoom interview, right? Did you mean some good prepared interview's scenario or maybe some graphic design in a post where you put the surveys link? I know it surely depends on the project but I'm interested how you understand design that part of process and what you did in that case :)
Yeah! So I think what's important to note here is that I was really strategic about WHO I reached out to from my survey. The survey was vague, but I only reached out to the people who use aromatherapy with some frequency. So that's a way of designing the recruitment process to reach my goal which was to interview people who are in my target demographic AND have regular experiences with aromatherapy. As for designing the social media post itself which will drive people to the survey link, it's just important that it appeals to people in the right demographic. So, since mine was about self care, I used soft and natural colors. But I kept it really general (no images of aromatherapy) so that I could keep the participants free from bias!
That's a great question. When you're doing this for a client, they should pay for the research phase so make sure you work that into your budget. If you're doing a personal project with no stakeholders, I would try to get a sponsor to fund the compensation of participants, or you could work out some sort of service trade.
Hi! I noticed a typo in the research section, on the first pie chart. The word woman is spelled "womxn" . I though you might want to know. Have a great day ❤️
Hi Maddy, I tried to download the template, and confirmed my subscription. But I still could not see anywhere to download. I click the link from my email, it always direct me back to the subscription page.
how do I know if people would really answer my form honestly and not only for the compensation? I'm afraid I will be wasting money if they just pick random answers
It’s important the phrase your questions in a way that doesn’t lead participants in any certain direction. They shouldn’t know what answers will make them a good candidate and which ones will eliminate them from the running.
Hey Neha! For the research plan worksheet, you'll have to confirm your email, so look in your promotions or spam folder if you've missed that step. Once you've confirmed, wait 10-15 minutes for the worksheet to arrive in your inbox! And for the source file link, that's an exclusive resource available to my paid Behance subscribers :) Feel free to join that if you'd like access!

Question about user interviews, what if I can't afford to compensate users for interviews? Is there anything else I can do?

If you're doing a personal project with no stakeholders, I would try to get a sponsor to fund the compensation of participants, or you could work out some sort of service trade.
U can offer them a free coffee in return for the interview.
