Nobody is penalized. Super rich people have to pay taxes from their hefty profits too, get used to it. The government has a duty and responsibility to decrease income gap and make sure to provide basic needs and rights to people in need as well.
Central Bank creates the money out of thin air, as long as they spend in the own currency, there is no issue. However, they need to stop favoring their super rich buddies who are causing the inflation over high percentage of low and middle income population. It has been going faulty for far too long.

How? We don’t have enough people in the trades to build all the required houses. For every 5-6 trades people soon retiring we have 1 young person entering.

The interest on the national debt payments are now up to 54 Billion dollars a year. We are losing over a billion dollars a week to interest payments alone now, good job you crooks...

Initially I was under the impression that the only positive aspect of this budget was its potential to curb mortgage fraud. However, upon a detailed examination I learned, "Budget 2024 announces the government's intention to consult with the mortgage industry on making available a tool through the Canada Revenue Agency to complement the existing strategies of financial institutions to verify borrower income for mortgages." So, it's just an intention to consult, not an actual thing. It seems like it’s all talk and no action. Now it's high time to talk about voting them out?

Useless budget for middle class people. There is shortage of trades people, so there is no way that millions of houses will be built. This budget is to lure people to vote for the Liberals. What about the deficit? How can any country prosper with such a huge deficit? Freeland is insane. Does she have any knowledge on how to balance the spending? Budget deficit in the own currency doesn't matter. The Central Bank can create the Canadian Dollar out of thin air and transfer to the treasury, and the treasury never has to pay the debt in the own currency. The important part is how they are spending it, and if they are spending it for people in need as well in order to reduce the income gap.
If government borrows in different currency and uses that money for inefficient projects or to favor some rich, that causes the real problem. The government or banks do not need to balance the spending as they can create money in their own currency without backing it up with gold or anything in modern monetary system.
The new budget means higher inflation and higher taxes, yet again. All of this equals hardship for Canadians.

The problem is you have a ton of people paying for programs for other people who for the most part are lazy, trying to game the system or aren't even Canadians. There are lots of scams where money is funneled into other countries. Who pays? Tax payers. Canada is constantly dumping billions into other countries who will only come back for more. Gov't constantly gives money to people with no strings attached. Its a spending problem not a revenue problem.

@steveswhirld while that is a great sentiment and everyone knows we need something new and more people in politics, you have to publicize your actual policies. What does "practical" mean in this sense. What are you planning to do differently that current parties aren't doing? What expertise do you have that makes you a candidate with better understanding? Marketing yourself as something different is simply what the other parties have been doing for generations at this point. To be different, you actually have to be different. Do you have a website/resource that outlines your policies?

That's why I asked what do you mean so you have a chance to actually talk about them or point to a place where that information can be found. Simply being different or "not a politician" is not enough. That's fluff. This effectively makes investing via Limited Partnerships the way to go holding assets in your own name instead of using holdco/trust structures. Problem is that anyone using one of these structures will get a personal tax hit to transfer interests out. Real tax bill based on a paper value shift. Kind of a tricky situation

It means higher taxes, more erosion of middle class … and a bunch more poor people who will get token handouts that don’t really help.
But because of the new programs the federal government will need to hire people which will make a minister a larger empire which will allow them to get paid more and all their new staff will get the same gold retirement packages. And Canada will be one step closer to where people will be paying more than 50% of their income to taxes (property tax, income tax, sales tax, provincial tax, plus all the increases to those same taxes)
