Commissioning New Lochinvar Knight Boiler Setting up Heating System

- Here I am setting up and testing a new Lochinvar Boiler/ commisioning to make sure it provides heat for its new owner. I go through all the parameters and make adjustments to get the boiler to operate correctly. Also, I test gas pressure, perform a combustion test

Lochinvar for the win. We are a Lochinvar dealer and i hardly ever have service calls on them. If it does have an issue....very easy to troubleshoot. Our installers are pretty damn good and install per the manual. Proper piping practices can go a long way in a well running boiler thats fairly trouble free
This was a great video thanks. I know nothing about boilers I do now
My area is full of boilers
Did you make up the paper sheet of the parameters of what you plugged into the boiler? Looked like a great reference. Care to share?
Where can we get a copy of the settings you used in the video? fantastic content, very helpful!
Those are the settings that work best. Nowhere to find that list online other than this video. Sometimes the settings need to be tweaked with. Like hi temp limits depending on buildings insulation. Yet baseboard should never be set below 120 on baseboard heat.
Can you flush those heat exchangers with water?
I have old oil boiler & planning to convert it gas. Would one can u recommend this type of unit or combi boiler wall unit? Thanks
I never recommend a combi boiler. I thing but problems. I recommend the lochinvar boiler. For hot water add an indirect storage tank. Very hard to ever run out of hot water with an indirect. Minerals in water scales up inside heat exchanger on tankless water heaters. The scaling causes boiler to add more heat which in turn ruins the unit. My company stopped installing tankless water heaters 7 years ago. We still have many out their. Yet too many problems, damage to home plumbing, sinks, showers, etc. then numerous heat exchanger problems. I replaced my gas fired water heater and put an indirect storage tank. It makes 180 gallons of hot water the first hour, and can keep 110 gallons every hour after. Yet what would you be doing that you would use more than 180 gallons of hot water in one hour. An indirect water heater is limited to sinks and showers used at same time
Job security these things. I'm a Burnham or Weil-McClain kinda guy. Got the Weil-McClain leather jacket I've installed so many
As an outside looking in guy, should I understand your post as saying Lochinvar are prone to failure or complicated ownership?
Weil McLain is a piece of trash. By far the most service calls i have are on Weil McLain. Lochinvar is far superior. Just like with anything.....its all in the installation.
The printer connection to the unit is infrared (like most tv remotes) and you need line of sight.
I learned right away just put the printer directly in front. Since we leave the printout on site and take a copy to file.
You are doing a good job on these videos
Hacker Does your company have any of those Lochinvar Noble boilers installed? If so how have they holding up?
I have seen one in Bayonne a plumber was putting it in and it wouldn’t fire becuase of a flow sensor. We don’t do much with on demand hot water. Even though we are starting to look into the LAARS Mascott LX
Didn't know they offered that on the knight, I've seen it on the commercial boilers for a while now!
I confuse easy which piece are you talking about?
was talking about the Con. X .us remote connection . I seen it on the firetube FTXL and Crest boilers for a while now !
I never did a startup on a firetube or crest yet have worked on them. The last crest I was working on sounded like a 12 gauge when firing, I mean exploding.
Can you put them through a test?
Yes their is a small hole over the test button. you can use a meter lead and push the test button. Then the boiler goes to 100 percent
@@thehvachacker Thanks!
That looks a little complicated
I felt the same way in 2006 running into my first munchkin boiler. Understanding how to read schematics and service manuals is key to hi efficient systems
All the dreaded munchkin!!! I hated those things. They are still out there in service.
