In Isaiah 55:6-9 as a Muslim I interpret the first part as Seek the Lord while you are still alive. I may interpret that wrong but to me it makes total sense and ties into the latter beautifully of course. The problem I personally run into is the HOW on a personal level. Did you read it? Besides him killing some people that opposed him the text got real angry at him when he didn't pray to G-d first in front of the people to make sure it was attributed t G-d. It gave him credit for immediately trying to repent by making a sacrifice to try make-up for it and being overall a good king in many different ways. Even gave him the honour of not falling by anyone's sword in the final battle of his life but going down to stray arrows from memory.
It is just that this is the king who needs to set a better example than that. A king needs to know better. That is why a king has the commandment to write 2 X torah sctolls in their life instead of one like the rest of us. And David his successor specifically learnt torah from the great assembly that had a direct line of private teaching going back to Moses who taught 3 below him and so on and so forth and ended up being the eternal seed for kingship of israel (futute and imminent messiah), and who merited to prepare for the temple that his son got to build. .anyway just read all those books. There’s always a sacrifice for sins including for the people of Nineveh, God didn’t destroy them it says because he saw there works and that they turned from the evil. They proclaimed a fast and put on sackcloth but just because a person turns from their sin and God forgives them doesn’t mean they don’t have sin anymore. It only means God forgave you for the wrong you were doing. Like God forgave Israel over and over again, but they still kept sinning against God because the nature of sin was in them. That’s what they can’t save themselves from and what God said he would do himself. That’s laid out through the prophets.

It's always great to look at a book of the Bible fresh. I see a few more things. It is interesting to me that Jonah saw mercy in God's warning Asyria will fall. He saw a vieled offer of forgiveness if they turned. INo surprise for a God who says we is full of mercy, patient and even long suffering.. Further, It wsn't only Asyria that had a sin issue. Jonah has a sin issue not being obedieant. It's awesome that Jonah in his whale of a problem in the dark thinks on Psalms 3 where David was on the run from Absalom, Jonah also was on the run from God both for their sin but saying "Salvation is of the Lord" in his prayer form Psalm 3. Jonah prophesied about the exapansion of Isael elsewhere. It was fortold from the prophets that Asyria would discipline Israel and Jonah did not love the idea. Running form God perhaps his way of putting it off. Jonah ends almost hard hearted and hopefully suggested a self realization written from a later time of repentance that although religious Jonah needed grace. Jonah is example that those near God need grace. Those far from God need grace. Jonah effectively says at the end he could just die over God's scandalous grace to the undeserving and even knew that a patient longsuffering God might do such a thing which is why he ran away. There is a good musical from the Sight and Sound theater in Amish Pennslyvaia where Jonah is told to cry out against Asyria and realizes cry also means he should really cry and weep over their sin with a heart felt concern. Another very interesting work is the Advent poem series by John Piper on Jonah where an older Jonah tells his story to a crowd where a young man named Hosea is sitting listening.

Who told you that lie?
The notion core teaching of the book of Jonah as an anathema to the writers of the New Testament is something that is only in Rabbi Tovia's mind. Rabbi Tovia is saying even though the Jewish writers of the New Testament quoted the book of Jonah they are disavowing it even though they never made any such statement. In other words he is making this up. At best he is saying gentiles had to repent and didn't need Jesus and therefore see how the the New Testament is different. You could make something similar by saying the New Testament does not require Christians to look at snakes because God had Moses hold up a snake to be saved.
Jesus did mention that the men of Nineva repented at the preaching of Jonah by implication teaching that Israel did not repent in spite of hearing more and greater preaching. If it be argued that a few people believed the preaching of Jesus and repented, compare that to the repentance of Nineva where the king came off his throne and every man repented. Even the cattle cried out for they were fasting. God took notice of even the cattle.
Nothing comparable happened in Israel even though Jesus himself was preaching to them repent. It was not the repentance necessary for God to put off the destruction of Jerusalem, much less bring the kingship on a political level. If Israel had a chance to either be redeemed when things were good or alternatively when things were at their worst, then Israel missed the things are good chance. That train has already left the station. The alternative is the things are at their worst scenario.
That has been the assumption throughout the Christian era, that things will get worse until we go through the seven bowls of wrath and stand before the Judgment. It means that Christians enjoy every day because once the troubles start they will not be immune. At most we personally may survive. We as a group will be conquered and we will see our loved ones destroyed if we last that long.
We share a common fate. Some few will survive. The Scriptures tells us that the troubles will be worth what we go through for those who will be saved. We trust that this is true. It is in Scripture, but it is set in the future. We will need all the faith we can muster to survive till the end. It may not be far off.
As for God's mercy on Nineva being without Jesus as Tovia preachs, the Bible teaches that Jesus was slain from the foundation of the world. Therefore, God had forgiven all the sins provisionally based on foreknowledge that he ever would forgive. However, man lives in time, and so the recipients of forgiveness are not called saints until after the death of Jesus. Forgiveness did not alter who the person was. Forgiveness was just of one sin at a time, like confession of sin does now for Christians. Making people holy was never the result of forgiveness, but of God chosing a people and sharing God's holiness.
Here is what Jonah means; look at your body in three parts, below the diaphragm, chest and head. Below are the ones "that don't know their right hand from their left" reproduction, eating and waste. In your chest resides "the animals" which are instincts we share with animals; jealousy, anger, curiosity. Then in your head resides your mind. When it says Jonah was fleeing from God the point it is making is it was God calling Jonah not him seeking God- no one can approach God unless he is called. When Jonah was first called he joined a congregation in order to reform his lower lusts and instincts, this reformation is in every religion. The ship represented the group. Him falling asleep represented the nullification that asceticism causes (this is the cross). Like Jesus he was then cast out of the group because being in the group is not salvation only a preparation for it. The only animals that are alive are the ones with a soul, this soul is breathed into them through their nose into their lungs, fish are not considered to be alive, i.e. they have no passions or thoughts. For three days Jonah was like this, without any passion or thoughts. After this God appeared to him in his mind as a voice. When the prophets would go to the mountains it is a mental state which is above your normal thinking mind. Jesus spoke of this when he said go into the prayer closet and close the door, the prayer closet is in your head, closing the door means shutting off your own mind so your head becomes empty. Jonah wanted his lower passions and animal instincts destroyed because he only wanted to stare at God's voice, God said the lower passions and instincts didn't need to be destroyed.
Also Jonah was ALIVE in the Belly of the Whale, whereas according to Trinitarians Jesus was dead in the heart of the earth
No, his body was. After three days he was resurrected. His spirit was still alive. When you die, your spirit will go somewhere but your body will be dead. Then you will face judgment and if you haven’t repented and called on the Lord, you will parish. Heaven or hell is your choice.

Elohim is the combination of two words אל-הם, El-hem, it means "the One with full power/authority over all other thing forces/powers", in Exodus 7 verse 1 when God tells moses "I will make you an elohim to pharo", it doesn't mean that God made Moses a plurality to pharo, it means He made moses an authority/control/ruler over pharo.

I do disagree with the timeline of 3 days and three nights I vaguely remember reading there was an eclipse during the crucifixion in all honesty. As a Muslim I must tell truth.

I am very very shocked, that Jews do not understand the meaning of blood..In Genesis when Adam was sent away, an animal was sacrificed. Throughout Israelite history God ordained sacrifice of lamb as atonement. The High priest could not go into the presence of God without blood. I wonder how Tovia can miss it so much? Sure the people of Nineveh repented and God forgave them. There are great lessons in this story. What is the process of God forgiving? Is it just God waves the sin away? What does that say for the sacrificial laws and blood sacrifices? Does it mean the Jewish laws are not needed because God can just step in and wave the sin away? The process is Jesus going to the cross for our sins. In Jonah's day they looked forward to this day of salvation, today we look back on it. All the prophets talked about Jesus coming for this purpose. Jesus said He would give the priests the sign of Jonah. It is likely that Jonah died and his prayers were done as a dead man who after 3 days lived again. So this becomes the process, Jesus going to the cross gives God the ability to wave the sin away.

What the Jews are missing is the process. Even though the process is laid out in their feasts and in the prophecies. We all read the Messiah will be cut off , but not for Himself. No time limit on being cut off. Like many Bible timelines there can be thousands of years between action X and reaction Y.
If we allow for a longer timeline we can see Jesus is right on time, the prophets are correct. The Messiah did come during the 2nd Temple and walk in it with great light.

God created within himself an area where there was nothing. He poured his energy into the void where it made connections and created a basic awareness. God took the awareness and added to it a connection to higher awareness with which God could talk. God placed the awareness in a place where it could learn about concepts of God. The awareness had to think and manage its thought. The lowest awareness did not like being superceded and desired to control the energy from God so that it was independent.
The higher awarness took knowledge that was too advanced. Instead of learning gradually it took as much knowledge as was possible. It was too much and broke away from the connection. The awareness now knew what it was. It was a seperated part of God and now they compared themselves to God and felt unworthy. The awareness falls down to a lower level of awareness and creates thought within the lower level.
All thought here connects. The greater the thought connections, the more power that unified thought holds. Now you have thought with God which is good and thought without God which is self thought or sin. Sin is a thought based on self awareness based on the inviroment in which you live. It is not based on God's truth. You come to a conclusion and say it is empirically true. Others come to the same conclusion and it becomes fact and reality. A circle of deception where your creative power uses Gods energy to create a world which you then look for evidence to support the fact thats its real.
The truth drsires to open up the world man created and break the false connection's. Like Jericho. The thought connections can then reconnect in truth. Sin is still here because we create life that is taught to support the world we see. Jesus died. We all die here. The soul lives on. The collective awareness here on Earth is made up of truth and lies mixed together. This awareness fights for energy and power within its seperated kingdom. It is still doing so. Jesus understood and gave up his body. This does not take sin away. Its like a mind where every neurone works for itself or joins others to gain and hold onto energy so that it can think and force its ideas on the other neurons. When neurones hold this energy, it starves the other parts of the mind. One part of the mind enslaves the rest of the mind. A healthy mind works together. In the beginning the conscious awareness developed connections that worked together to understand what God was showing them. God showed Adam the animals and said name them.
To end sin we must think like a collective, working and supporting each other to form an awareness that can look at God and learn what he is. Isreal. The human race could not do this with Jesus because the thought connections on Earth are dictating what reality is. Jesus's awareness did not convey the truth to the people in a way that was understood or practiced. This led to another perception of truth which the church politically used to gain and hold power. Nothing changed.
Man desires independent thought and independent power. God desires collective thought on concepts of Gods reality.
The end of this world will end when enough connections join in unity and project the truth of God onto the world we see. This will cause friction. Good thought and Evil will fight as in Caine and Abel. Good thought will encrease to the point where false beliefs will retreat within themselves. Mary wanted to know how he was going to be conceived, the angels told her that “Holy Thing” shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. Jesus never had problems with demons he stood tall on their heads at every turn he never had to have a demon cast out of him storms and winds were never a problem to him, if he came in contact with a violent wind he’ll just say shut up! and the winds would cease.
Jesus didn’t have to deal in the life of his flesh with things that were hard on it because he was the master of everything I’d like you to notice when the issue came up as to how the lame man was healed Peter first said to the man who was lame from his mother womb, in the name of Jesus of Nazareth, Jesus had been gone from Nazareth for days so when he referred to him as Jesus of Nazareth he wasn’t talking about the Jesus who was in Nazareth he was talking about the Jesus who had been in Nazareth but when he came to explain to the Jewish people how this miracle had happen he said God has glorified his Son Jesus.
God change the Son position, demons couldn’t change him, storms couldn’t make a difference in his life, satan couldn’t make his life rough without it willed, not even death could make him obey it, storms couldn’t kill him, men couldn’t break his neck by throwing him down the hill, fasting couldn’t kill him, nothing could take his life, “St. John 10:18”, but when nothing on earth could bring about a transition in his life, God the Father, made the difference.
Jesus didn’t really have to have folks to support him, you never read where Jesus preached and taught and folks stood on their feet and said amen and hallelujah, it was not human support that made Jesus who he was he was self sufficient so powerful on his own until nothing on earth could put him in a place where he needed to have a transition, but the Father did it when He sent him to the Garden of Gethsemane and to the Cross of Calvary for the human family, that’s when he needed a dramatic assistance from Almighty God he needed a transformation because God had committed him to what the winds couldn’t committ him to, satan couldn’t commit him to it, his enemies couldn’t committ him to it, and there was the Cross of Calvary.
God, put him to grief, “Isaiah 53:10”, took him down to the lowest hell, and made him taste death for every man, his suffering had no comparison in history, no man had ever cried tears like he cried in Gethsemane, there never been such a broken heart, never a load so heavy to bear in the history of the world.
The judgment of God had never been so vehement against a man or group of men as it was when Jesus went to Gethsemane and on to Calvary he needed a transformation and no one could give it to him but the Heavenly Father.
You stop and think, that Jesus died on the cross for every man, hold it, he wasn’t playing games on Calvary, do you not realize that hell was being faced by every one of us? Hell, the lake that burn with fire and brimstone’s, what did God do? He sent Jesus to hell for every one of us!
Wait folks, so you don’t think you’re going to hell? Do you know why you’re not going? Somebody had to go for our sins, oh yes, oh yes, the soul that sins, it shall die, somebody had to go, you know we may not think as serious as we do about what Jesus was up against at Calvary, that was no side show! It was REAL!
Let’s go to Gethsemane when Jesus prayed, the Bible says he was in an agony, “ St. Luke 22:44” that means, it was unique, there had never been an agony like that, in an agony and there was a darkness over the earth, a unique darkness, God shut him out from light, when God shut Jesus out from light, He put Jesus in a kind of a place, where Jesus had delivered other people from, and that was blindness.
God shut out the light of the Sun, shut out the light of the moon, Jesus couldn’t see anything like the blind he healed. Now Calvary, he is in darkness, he’s in hell, he’s in outer darkness, what does he needs? A transformation, God has forsaken him, he cries, make no mistake folks, that’s not just a fairytale some loose knit story, he was forsaken by God and he felt it. My God my God, why has thou forsaken me?
Reason, we was all in his bosom, and when God turned His back on him, He was turning His back on us in him, there he was, hanging on Calvary, suffering, bleeding, dying, experiencing the second death for all of us. Consentrated hell, consentrated hell, consentrated hell, that’s were Jesus was on Calvary. Jesus was in outer darkness for your sake and mine, I think sometimes we don’t take the death of Jesus, serious enough.
Take him down from the Cross, buried, on the third day, He arose again, rose, yes our Savior rose from the dead, He rose triumphant as he said, snatched the victory from the grave rose again my soul to save, Oh glory hallelujah to the Lamb. But he’s not in Nazareth now, his Father has glorified him, he’s no longer a natural man like he was in Nazareth, he’s risen from the dead, glorified, ascended on high, sitting on the throne of God in heaven, that’s the man in who’s name that man was made whole.
Up from the grave he arose, with a mighty triumph over his foes, snatched the victory from the dark domain, and “He” lives forever with the saints to reign, hallelujah, he arose, hallelujah, he arose.
Jesus who had gone to the lowest hell, is now transformed and seated in glory. It’s interested to me, that when Jesus arose from the dead and ascended on high, led captivity captive, “God the Father in Christ”, seated him on “His own throne”, (watch this now), and the reason that the man that went through the awfulness on Calvary is seated on the Throne is because God has nothing higher to give him.
He couldn’t reward him with land, He couldn’t reward him with silver, He couldn’t reward him with gold, “Psalm 50:10-12” the only thing He had to give him, was His Own Throne.

Jesus the transformed, is now the transformer, He will pick you up, and turn you around, He will set your feet on higher ground.
We are waiting the day when this grand transformer is going to transform us, and we shall be changed, we shall be transformed by Him who are transformed. Did you not know, we’ll going to be caught up? Did you not know, that the dead in Christ shall rise first? We are going to be transformed.
