Jonathan, well done for your video of charging the e-niro as it isn't the easiest procedure to follow, however as you may not know when you are starting out 6 days in the future and doing all this is such a phaff! I did the following - I programmed each day (mon to sun) with the same details - 0030 to 0430 and a departure time of 0800hrs. This allows me to just plug in the car on any night I have between 40 and 50% and leave it - the next morning I have 75 - 85% of charge . I did this as soon as I bought the car in March this year and have not had to fiddle around with it since. Hope this make sense. (If I need 100% I use the app to tell the charger to go to 100%)
Thank you very much for the information. I am waiting for the delivery of a Kia Niro. I did not see this information in other videos that I have seen. I am trying to decide whether or not I need a smart charger. Looking at this video, it does not seemed that I need a smart charger.
Great video very clear, I guess if you only travel 50 to 60 miles a day then simply charging on the cheap tariff every night for 5 hours @ 7KW is the best way to get 3p a mile economy. Great thanks. Incidentally how close in the KIA for claimed range roughly?
Is it possible to override the schedule easily? Eg when I plug in at work I want it to charge straight away and not wait for off peak. On my egolf there is a button beside the charge socket that tells it to ignore schedules
No you select the times on the car , the octopus Go tarriff needs a smart meter fitted , then yes its across the uk at 5p from 00.30 till 04.30 , then the rest of the time it's 25p a unit.
When I try to set departure time and the desired climate temperature it comes up with the message "Settings have note been changed. Please try again later". I have the car plugged in and charging while I am doing it. Do you know what the issue might be? 2022 Niro EV 2.

Yes. There a button bottom left of the steering wheel column which switches off the timer for an immediate charge.
Looks a bit clumsy. Is it the same for the Soul (my first and future EV)? Presumably, you can schedule from an intelligent charger if you have one.

Set whilst it is NOT CHARGING !
If that’s anything like my Ioniq (and it looks to be the same system) it won’t charge until the night before the departure time.
Does it charge to 80% or 100%?
Depends what you set it too on the screen

It's actually stunning how badly Kia designed this CRUCIAL element of the vehicle. So appalling it's not even funny. I will NEVER buy a Kia again.
