This angle got so much heat that a lot of fans sent money to JYD to help pay his bills. Also, just as they were going to start the dog collar match between Hayes and Dog a fan managed to get in the ring with a gun and actually said he would take care of the 'Birds for Dog.
Close. The fan didn't get into the ring, he stood in front of Dog, and told him he would protect him from the Birds. Duggan and Cornette were discussing it and talked about on the one hand Dog didn't want the guy to shoot Hayes, but on the other, he couldn't break Kayfabe. lol Luckily, the cops/security tackled the guy before anything happened.
Wrestling used to be so cool. They got over and made money off of "hair removal cream." Today people do all these flips and fall through tables and God forbid a wrestler says something mean, the beta males on the internet have to be offended. Back then something as simple "hair removal cream" got people over and made money. Truly a lost art.
But he said something mean on Twitter! Ugh. You're so right. I don't get people these days. They want them to all be friends and sing campfire songs backstage, but we're supposed to believe the animosity in the ring is real all while tweeting each other and sharing pics on Instagram. 😂 🙄
There is video of a 16 year old Bamm Bamm from when he was working as an enhancement worker under the name of Terry Mecca in Ed Einhorn's IWA. He was getting squashed by Ernie Ladd.
Your looking at this with a modern viewpoint. This was a house show where they were filming an angle and just needed some footage. This wasn't a major televised production with millions of dollars and a production crew producing it.
Bill watts is one of my favorite wrestlers and promoters my least favorite promoter is Vince Mc Mahon I don't like him I don't like WWE I love mid south

And they all got over. They all drew money. Wrestling is better when it's real enough to make you suspend disbelief.

What's even crazier, the gun had a bullet with, literally, the Freebirds' name on it.
@@animalunleashed3812 listens to podcast acts like an authority.
Freebirds were so cool in the 80s.
Gordy seemed like a good old country boy, even as a bad guy.
Hayes was a great heel.
OMG Freebird CREAM!!!!
I can't believe Terry Gordy was 18 and Michael Hayes was only about 21 here.

Historic angle, incredible heat on the Birds
18 year old Gordy-always amazed me how the birds went to top of the cards as teenagers

Hayes couldn't wrestle his way out of a wet paper sack
What’s with the camera angles? They don’t seem to have long shot cameras. It’s all from under the first rope. It’s very annoying.
