    The blinding of The Junkyard Dog. My favorite angle of all time. To watch it unfold every week was just incredible. It was so well played that everybody believed. I wish that video existed of the entire angle.

      It literally started a war between my lil cousin and me. He was JYD. He actually wrote him get well cards and sent them to TBS.
      Me being Freebirds I ripped one up one day and he legit hit me with a skillet. I got 8stitches and a concussion. I was like 10years old.
      I still think all these years later he thinks they really tried to blind him.
      I miss kayfabe!😊

      Totally agree with you, as both tag-teams actually knew how to wrestle. Moreso The Freebirds, as the three of them had entirely different styles of the same sport. The Von Erichs were very good, however, They really didn't last very long because of their addictions, or whatever else. Would have liked to see them continue their feud A lot longer, as it was Actual Wrestling. Not The Undertaker putting his foes in coffins.

    That August night in the Louisiana SuperDome 1980 Mid-South Extravaganza, Main Event x Michael Hayes vs. The Blinded Junkyard Dog in a Dog-collar match. Seeing Michael Hayes coming to the ring is the reason Freebird is one of favorite songs to perform. Andre The Giant vs. THE Incredible Hulk Hogan was also on the card

      Bryant Yep I was there too. Was 13 years old at the time. I remember that night in the Superdome like it was yesterday. Nothing ever compared to the rivalry between The Fabulous Freebirds and JYD. Certainly remember that Andre/Hulk match too. Great memories.

    I remember jyd coming out with wheel barrel of junk to bad leroy brown. Many so call experts says you can't go back to territory days. I think you can but it will take money to run regular route. Also good talent with good booking gotta be pro wrestling not sports entertainment.

    • @cjjonez
      @cjjonez 3 роки тому

      @Randall Glattyes theres always intrest in a good product. But pro wrestling is a niche. If somebody can put them a solid route or 9 or cities as a base. And can produce a broadcast quality program or produce a ecast weekly for several months it can work. Not trying to compete with with wwe roh aew. But last week numbers last month total and last year gross. Yeah it can work... but there is a secret to this business only few people in on it. But its something that not available to those want to know it....u cant redo uwf or worldclass out the door it took them 10 to 15 years each to get to be hot spot so it. Can be done. Ive seen platform shoes come back twice in my lifetime 🤣😆😂

    • @cjjonez
      @cjjonez 3 роки тому

      @Randall Glatt sir I am
      not discounting what you are saying but the majority what you see is sports entertainment....most promotion geared toward that. And thats fine. Pro wrestling is a niche now there were over 3 million fans of it. That watched wcw. What happen to those people? If u can find away to get to 10% of that market that's lost. Lots of us out here. We watch it until everybody goes to become wwe light. It can happen your view of a success and mine different. A good territory you run 6 days a week 8 shows a week avg 1500-2000 per show with a big show of 4000 plus once a quarter for your blow off. That's a good basic territory...that's what's somebody got some money to burn need to be able to build too.
      Bottomline i know it would be hard but not impossible.

    The most under appreciated feuds in Wrestling History!!! JYD is white hot after this feud, then has one of the best 5 year runs in wrestling history. Hayes is 21…just amazing. New Orleans HATED the Freebirds.

      No, people had more sense and better things to do with their time then get their panties in a knot over something so trivial. They were from Atlanta Georgia, they were called "The Freebirds" the Confederate flag just kinda went with the shtick and people were smart enough to understand that, not looking for something stupid to whine about. Growing up back then I can personally attest that unless the person holding it was wearing a white hood and robe, black people didnt give it a whole lot of thought, especially when it pertained to entertainment. As a kid I had a whole lot of black friends who loved the General Lee and the Dukes of Hazzard.

    Michael Hayes was always a POS. Hated this guy. From being F*ed up and trying to pi$$ on Linda McMahon to burying wrestlers like Edge and Christian and Matt and Jeff Hardy and X-PAC. He would volunteer these guys to go out and do insanely dangerous moves night in and night out without checking with them first. And would never let them learn how to run or set up their own matches because he'd tell these guys to go out and do this, that and the other but never told them WHY they were doing it. So they never learned from him how to be better on their own and had to keep relying on him to set up their matches. Uhhhh this guy really gets to me. So so bad.
