Sheila E. and Sheena Easton were both in Prince's U Got The Look video. Sheena Easton was singing co- lead, Sheila E was playing drums. Sheila has played drums for many artists including Marvin Gaye, Lionel Richie, Michael Jackson, and ironically Ringo Starr. I believe the video for this song contains scenes from Krush Groove which starred Sheila E., along with Run-DMC, The Fat Boys, The Beastie Boys, LL CooJ, and Kurtis Blow. Krush Groove was basically the first hip hop movie.
Uh, "Beat Street" would like to have a word... 😀 But, yeah, Krush Groove (1985) was awesome as was Beat Street (1984) and either one would be a great choice for J&A's movie reaction channel.

This song was used in the movie Krush Groove. It was kind of a retelling of the start of Def Jam records. Run DMC are the stars but it also features LL Cool j, the fat boys, Rick Rubin's, and Sheila e. She performs the song Holly Rock in the movie. That's my favorite song of hers.

I saw Sheila E backing up RIngo Starr in 2003 as part of Ringo's All-Starr Band. She was great. Others have mentioned Glamorous Life as her big hit, seeing it live, with a timbales solo was amazing. Yes, Sheila E did also back up Prince.
Back in the day... & it's both Sheena Easton and Sheila E. Sheena Easton hung out she was a flavor of the month... Sheila E. recorded and toured w/ Prince for @ least 15 years in total. DJs back in the day used to prove that they were badasses by mixing Love Bizarre, Erotic City, and Nasty Girls.
Thank you so much for playing one of my all time favorite songs by one of my favorite female artists. You guys are on fire tonight. 🔥 This song is from the movie "Krush Groove" from 1985 which was a great musical film that had artists like LL Cool J in it (and which Sheila E had a part in also). You may want to play this one on your movie channel since it's about music.
Sheila E. AND Sheena Easton where in the 'You Got The Look" video! Sheila was playing the percussion instruments. She's from a family of well known musicians!
This is Prince’s all time protege , she’s a pure entertainer, percussionist extraordinaire, she’s done it all from solo career to playing in his band. That’s him singing background. Try “ Glamorous Life”….
Sheila E. might be my favorite drummer. I saw her in concert with Prince in the late 80's, she blew me away when the lights went out and her drum sticks glowed.
Amazing percussionist. She was a big fan of Karen Carpenter. She was young and watched the televised Battle of the Bands in Los Angelos in which The Dick Carpenter trio won.. It was Richard and Karen playing jazz. All instrumental I believe Karen was 16 at the time. She gives Karen a lot of credit for highlighting female drummers. Sheila took after her father and went on to be a top Percussionist in the music world.
Hey Squad!! Love Sheila E! She is one of the best female percussion/drummers out....react to The Glamorous Life. By the way, Sheila E is in the movie Krush Groove.
Sheila E is the absolute BOMB! However, you can’t help but notice your boy Prince is all over this track. Please check out Glamorous Life next. Sheila is so bad a** is that video too. You guys will LOVE 💜 it for sure.
Shiela E. Is one of Prince protege. She is a world renowned drummer for all music. She started out with George Duke as drummer and background They have song/video by George Duke called “Reach For It”. Shiela E. Is front & center singing background. It’s a real funky jam
Prince doesn’t appear in the video but that’s HIS voice. He & Sheila did another song together “Erotic City” it was the B side of Let’s Go Crazy from the Purple Rain album
This is a scene from the 1985 movie "Krush Groove" which was actually pretty good, but it wasn't no "Breakin'".... Huge '80s controversy 😂😂😂 but "Glamorous Life" is undoubtedly Sheila E's greatest hit❤️
I got really excited when I saw Sheila E's name in the thumbnail, but was a bit disappointed that it was a reaction to her SECOND best song..... You MUST MUST MUST react to "The Glamorous Life" immediately!!! DO NOT DELAY!!!! It's a Prince composition, an absolute BANGER, sexy as hell, funky as hell, cool as hell. I defy you not to dance to it. One of my all time fave 80s tune. DO IT! You won't regret it 😁
Love Sheila E. Talented woman that deserves far more credit for her music than she gets. Prince sings the background vocals on this and as others have mentioned, he wrote this, amongst other songs for her. The Glamorous Life was her most popular and shows her percussion skills.
Sheila E. and her band as others already mentioned were set up by Prince, who not only wrote (AND RECORDED) all of the music for her to sing over. But he also took her on tour as the opening act during the "Purple rain" and "Parade" tours, during which he'd bring her on stage for a STEAMING live version of "Baby I'm a star" But during the Parade tour, the band members of the Revolution began to notice that Prince kept on inviting Sheila E's band onstage, for the entire show. Then, word got around that after the end of the tour, Sheila would replace Bobby Z on drums. The Revolution wasn't aware of it yet, but the "Parade" tour was to road test what would become the very first line up of the New Power Generation. Prince fired The Revolution in a very spectacular way: by destroying his famous white guitar that he's seen using in the "Purple rain" music video. Leaving only Doctor Fink (the keyboard player with the scrubs) and the members of Sheila E's band and Sheila herself to form the NPG.
Hey Jay & Amber, you guys should check out "The Glamorous Life" by Sheila E. It great!!! Plus she was another Prince protégé and toured with Prince a lot.
They call her "The Queen of Percussion". Prince fingerprints are all over this song musically and lyrically. You've got to react to "Glamorous Life" by Sheila E!
Prince met Sheila E. at a concert in 1977, when she was performing with her father. After the show he met her and told her that he and his bassist Andre Cymone "were just fighting about which one of us would be the first to be your husband." He also vowed that one day she would join his band. The two would eventually join forces during the Purple Rain recording sessions. She provided vocals on the B-side to "Let's Go Crazy", "Erotic City" in 1984. Though taken under Prince's wing, she proved to be a successful artist in her own right
The first time I saw Prince, Sheilaa E was playing drums with the band. Chaka Khan was the opening act. Fantastic concert. You should give a listen to "Erotic City", a duet with Prince.
Would love more reactions to Blondie, Rapture, The Tide is High, One Way Or Another, Atomic, The Hardest Part, Accidents Never Happen etc. Clem Burke is a beast on drums and Debbie Harry is an icon. Even their deep cuts are well worth hearing.
Ah, you finally got to my favorite from the 80s!!! She is incredibly talented, and this song takes me back to my high school dance and nightclub days. She was also *the* primary inspiration for my teenage dance clubbing attire. 😁
That was a banger in the clubs those days not known by everybody but loved by all who listened and danced to it. Same counts for „The dance electric“ by Andre Cymone. All were members of the Prince music family and you can hear his sound signature. Imagine Prince and Sheila E had a child. What a talent might have come to the world. Btw Sheila E was the daughter of Pete Escovedo former member of Santana.
I forgot about this one. She's so talented (and good looking). Her Dad or Uncle played percussion with Santana for quite awhile. BTW, you should see her play percussion. Stellar.
Sheila E is a world renowned drummer who worked with many great artists. Prince wrote/produced and played instruments on her debut album. This song is basically a duet with Prince . You should check out The Glamorous Life, her debut monster jam/hit. She eventually joined Prince's band as his drummer (and eventually his fiancee). Both Sheena and Sheila were in the You've Got the Look video with Sheila playing drums on it.
Can’t help but hear Prince singing background. Funky! He wrote and performed it with her. He was well known for Lin synthesized drums kits in the 80’s. Genius. She was styled by Prince for this video. 💜💜💜
She was the opening act for Prince on the Purple Rain Tour that I was lucky enough to see in Greensboro NC back in 1985. Had 5th row center seats She was absolutely AMAZING and GORGEOUS!!!
You have to see her play the drums. She's an amazing performer on those drums & you need to see her do her thing. This is from the movie Krush Groove. It was about rappers & singers trying to make it in the music business. It had Run Dmc, the Fat Boys, Ll Cool J, New Edition, & many more in it.
Great coverage of Sheila E.'s performance of "Love Bizarre." Interesting that Prince wrote the tune and sings in the background -- Prince could not only sing and dance, but was a very accomplished guitarist! Of course, the R&B groove of Love Bizarre makes this tune catchy and very danceable too! If your interested in reviewing some heavy metal, other than the ever popular Metallica or the Progressive Metal of Jinjer, let me venture a few other suggestions: Let's push the envelope with the legendary "The Black Opera: Symphoniae Mysteriorum in Laudem Tenebrarum" by Opera IX, specifically Act V: The Magic Temple. The Black Opera is the Opus Magnum of Opera IX with lead vocalist Cadaveria. Cadaveria has since gone solo, and a good representative music video is "Flowers in Fire" official video by Cadaveria. The Black Opera has no video, just audio -- but, riveting high energy heavy metal just the same with incredible drumming, bass, and guitar -- and, vocals by Cadaveria. If Cadaveria is beautiful, but a little too intense, then let me suggest something more regional: “The In-Between,” by the metal group In This Moment from the album 'Mother (Jan 22, 2020). This track is very high energy metal -- would love to get the Rob Squad Reactions.
I saw her in concert in '91 or '92. She is amazing on the drums. You need to react to the Shane Hawkins drum appearance for his dad. As a widowed family, it hits me and this kid is amazing.
Sheila E. (she's an incredible drummer who performs in some Prince music videos) and Sheena Easton worked with Prince (he's singing background on this track that he wrote).
This song always makes me think of "Oh, Sheila" by Ready For The World, another 80's song you should check out. For Sheila E you need to check out her biggest hit "Glamorous Life" and her track with Prince "Erotic City".
As others mentioned, the song was written with Prince who sings backing on the song. The highly recognizable sound is part of the “Minneapolis Sound” sub-genre that Prince pioneered.
My favorite is Belle of St Mark. Sheils was part of the Revolution, playing drums and any percussion. Sheena teamed with Prince and he wrote songs for both.
Nobody ever talks about the off-the-hook, utterly insane bass line going on in the background through the whole song. That was Prince on bass and it's the best bass groove I think I've ever heard.
Prince was such an amazing song writer. I know people know that but I still feel like he’s underrated. those who know… know. Big list of songs he wrote for other people.
Prince written all over it. Prince help launch many solo careers for former band members and others, most had the same style of music and dress fashion. Most public did NOT dress like this, EXCEPT for the high full hair. I can still smell the hairspray and gel. Sheila released a few more recordings with no big hits. Well-known for her drumming, she's the daughter of popular musician Pete Escovido and still performs. 80s music was filled with Soft Rock, Hard Rock, Punk Rock, Techno Club, Freestyle, R&B/Funk, and Rap.
This was STOOPID huge in the clubs for a good minute after it popped...great song. The late Michael Hedges did an outstanding acoustic cover of this that ya'll would probably enjoy. Hendrix's "All Along The Watchtower," and the song "You Drive Me Crazy" by Fine Young Cannibals are on the same "live" LP as well. It's well worth a listen. And, Ms E ain't no slouch on a drum kit either.
You ABSOLUTELY have to do “The Glamorous Life”, which was her debut song and biggest hit! Sheila is an amazing percussionist.
It is a must, great video as well.

I saw Sheila E backing up RIngo Starr in 2003 as part of Ringo's All-Starr Band. She was great. Others have mentioned Glamorous Life as her big hit, seeing it live, with a timbales solo was amazing. Yes, Sheila E did also back up Prince.
Sheila E was an amazing drummer as well!
Still is.
You're next Sheila E reaction must be GLAMOROUS LIFE! Such a superb drummer.
Sheila E is one of the top drummers in the music industry she is LEGENDARY !!!
Preach my brother
Sheila E. AND Sheena Easton where in the 'You Got The Look" video! Sheila was playing the percussion instruments. She's from a family of well known musicians!
And YES! That's PRINCE singing the male voice. HE produced this song for Sheila. Wrote it too!!
This is Prince’s all time protege , she’s a pure entertainer, percussionist extraordinaire, she’s done it all from solo career to playing in his band. That’s him singing background. Try “ Glamorous Life”….
Please listen to "Waiting for a Star to Fall" from "Boy Meets Girl".
They have!
Sheila E. might be my favorite drummer.
Prince's backing vocals are so distinctive and highlighted, it's almost just a Prince song. Of course he wrote the whole thing.
“The Glamorous Life” is amazing, written and produced by Prince and performed by Sheila E.
You definitely can see Prince's influence in her performance! I love her. ✌️♥️
Shiela E. Is one of Prince protege. She is a world renowned drummer for all music.
She started out with George Duke as drummer and background
They have song/video by George Duke called “Reach For It”. Shiela E. Is front & center singing background. It’s a real funky jam
"The Bell of St Mark" has always been my favourite Sheila E song, love watching her play her drums!💜
I love The Bell of St. Mark too. I hope there is a video out there for it...
@@leeharrison8222 It was while ago, but I do remember seeing one. Right I'm going to look for it now😂.
Prince doesn’t appear in the video but that’s HIS voice. He & Sheila did another song together “Erotic City” it was the B side of Let’s Go Crazy from the Purple Rain album
Ya'll have to watch Sheila E play her drums live!
Prince probably wrote this song for her you can hear him singing in the back round
Prince DID write the song.
This is a scene from the 1985 movie "Krush Groove" which was actually pretty good, but it wasn't no "Breakin'".... Huge '80s controversy 😂😂😂 but "Glamorous Life" is undoubtedly Sheila E's greatest hit❤️
Man I can't even tell you how many times I saw Breaking. And of course Breaking 2: Electric Boogaloo 🤣🤣😂
Sheila E. song GLAMOROUS LIFE live is PURE FIRE!!!
She’s an incredibly talented drummer too. Prince wrote so many songs for people back in the day!
DO IT! You won't regret it 😁
Sheila E - Glamorous Life ......This has Prince all over it, he even made her look like a female Prince
Prince's protege. She played percussions on so many songs. One that comes to mind Con Funk Shun "Chase Me" You should do that when it's a good song
Actually Jay, both Sheila E. And Sheena Easton were in the music video for "You Got The Look"
Can you hear Prince 💜 love you two! You bring me back to my youth….the 80’s was absolutely amazing!!!! Love Sheila E
Gotta hear "Glamorous Life" by Sheila E... Her best song! Guaranteed to love it!
Don't forget to check out the duet Kate Bush did with Peter Gabriel.
The Glamorous Life is Sheila E's best song and you should react to a live performance to see how great she actually is.
Love Sheila E. Talented woman that deserves far more credit for her music than she gets. Prince sings the background vocals on this and as others have mentioned, he wrote this, amongst other songs for her. The Glamorous Life was her most popular and shows her percussion skills.
A LOVE BIZARRE MY TOP 10 SONG OF THE WONDERFUL 80'S 💯🔝💯
Sheila E is one of the most underrated female singers out there! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Her!
Sheila E. and her band as others already mentioned were set up by Prince, who not only wrote (AND RECORDED) all of the music for her to sing over. But he also took her on tour as the opening act during the "Purple rain" and "Parade" tours, during which he'd bring her on stage for a STEAMING live version of "Baby I'm a star"
But during the Parade tour, the band members of the Revolution began to notice that Prince kept on inviting Sheila E's band onstage, for the entire show.
This is a classic Prince groove, shake it
They call her "The Queen of Percussion". Prince fingerprints are all over this song musically and lyrically. You've got to react to "Glamorous Life" by Sheila E!
There’s a video of Sheila E. her dad Pete Escovedo and Tito Puente playing drums , timbales together. It’s really cool to see.
Though taken under Prince's wing, she proved to be a successful artist in her own right
You can hear Prince singing in this song throughout. He and Sheila were also engaged T one point.
There's a live version of this when they were on the Johnny Carson tonight show. It is really amazing. Nothing like the stock record version.
The first time I saw Prince, Sheilaa E was playing drums with the band. Chaka Khan was the opening act. Fantastic concert. You should give a listen to "Erotic City", a duet with Prince.
Prince was all over that record
Would love more reactions to Blondie, Rapture, The Tide is High, One Way Or Another, Atomic, The Hardest Part, Accidents Never Happen etc. Clem Burke is a beast on drums and Debbie Harry is an icon. Even their deep cuts are well worth hearing.
I love this song from her. Also Glamorous Life and Sister Fate.
Ah, you finally got to my favorite from the 80s!!! She is incredibly talented, and this song takes me back to my high school dance and nightclub days. She was also *the* primary inspiration for my teenage dance clubbing attire. 😁
Never will be another Sheila E! She is so talented in so many ways. Thanks for doing this one and her other songs.
Sheila E is everything I grew up listening to her. I was a teenager during this time and I was obsessed with her and I was obsessed with Prince.
Stellar.
She also played with Santana before she played with Prince.
she is one of the greatest and most unique drummers and extremely talented
She was the opening act for Prince on the Purple Rain Tour that I was lucky enough to see in Greensboro NC back in 1985.
Had 5th row center seats
She was absolutely AMAZING and GORGEOUS!!!
If your interested in reviewing some heavy metal, other than the ever popular Metallica or the Progressive Metal of Jinjer, let me venture a few other suggestions:
Let's push the envelope with the legendary "The Black Opera: Symphoniae Mysteriorum in Laudem Tenebrarum" by Opera IX, specifically Act V: The Magic Temple.
Awesome Percussionist Sheila E is. 👍👍🎶👍👍
WAY too long since I heard this jam! Thanks for bringing this back! ❤️🔥
Nobody ever talks about the off-the-hook, utterly insane bass line going on in the background through the whole song. That was Prince on bass and it's the best bass groove I think I've ever heard.
Sheila is amazing and this was written by Prince I believe.
Prince was such an amazing song writer. I know people know that but I still feel like he’s underrated. those who know… know. Big list of songs he wrote for other people.
Sheila E Played in Prince Band
Her dad was in the original Santana band, came from good genes
Prince written all over it. Prince help launch many solo careers for former band members and others, most had the same style of music and dress fashion. Most public did NOT dress like this, EXCEPT for the high full hair. I can still smell the hairspray and gel. Sheila released a few more recordings with no big hits. Well-known for her drumming, she's the daughter of popular musician Pete Escovido and still performs. 80s music was filled with Soft Rock, Hard Rock, Punk Rock, Techno Club, Freestyle, R&B/Funk, and Rap.
She's one of the best percussionist of her time.
I saw Sheila E. open for Prince for the Purple Rain tour in Lakeland, FL in 1985. One of the best concerts I've ever been to.
Sheila E AND Sheena Easton were in the "U Got The Look" video. Shela was playing the drums, and Sheena was singing.
Prince co-wrote this song with Sheila E. You can tell by the production where it was made. It was a top 10 jam
