    So HILARIOUS.
    I tried to sail in 60 knots once on Lake Ontario when I was younger and ??? Crazier.
    My wind gauge that went to 55 mph.
    On the beach it got wacked to the end. Like hold it up and BAM 55mph.
    So for sure was 60 knots on the lake.
    Real problem was the onshore short period waves about 4.5 meters.
    Higher than the mast on my 2.6M sail for sure.
    For some reason I had the beach to myself???
    After about 90 minutes of abuse and near drowning I derigged and went a few miles away and sailed inland in a mere 50 knots. My biggest day for sure.
    As crazy as that was,,,,no way I would sail offshore in that madness.

      I sailed in 60 once at west wittering at low tide. Was epic. Tried at over 70 once cross shore at Climping UK. Was so windy the wind took my board and rig about 4 m in the air and 20 m down the beach. Went out about 50m, waterstarted, sailed back about 50 m down wind!

    And here I was scared about the 25mph winds gusting to 43mph today on my 5.0 😂the gusts were just too much... would have enjoyed it without all the gusts!
    Thanks for the video! It's awesome to see you have a bunch of friends to sail with!

    Speed sailing looks completely terrifying!!! I commend you for even being brave enough to give it a go in those conditions, you are a brave man!! I like going fast, and 32 knots to me feels very fast!! 40 or more seems completely nuts!!! Love your channel and videos!! The humor is awesome!!

    I used to do a lot of sailing back in the day and for the windiest stormy conditions I had a 2.8 m sail and a 7' 11" FOX shaped by Ted James out of Hatteras NC...He claimed it was the shortest board ever shaped at the time. ( 1985 ).7' 11"....Still have it...Not really a speed board though..

    At my home airport, it’s always blowing at night so we park our Cessna into the wind. We can always tell the newbies that park “tail into the wind.” Stay safe and fast! Great video!

      Airplanes can and will end upside down, thanks to strong winds. They tie them to the ground for a reason. It's like cats with a wing mast, even without sails, these cats can get in serious trouble.

    In South east asia we rarely have this windspeed. But if we want to have a taste of it, me and my buddy go for storm chasing. Just play right in front of it and If we trapped in it we just pray..

    Great job, only people that speed sail on small boards will know how horrible rolling chop is and does not matter where you sail it’s still there if to broad, I would be very happy with getting 50 knots,
    PS. It’s about time turn up equipped with some small speed sails, say 5.2m / 4.8m / 3.9m 🥳🥳🥳🥳😀😀😀😀

    • @TKM11370
      @TKM11370 3 роки тому

      How much wind would you need to go fast on a 3.9???? I mean if they are using 5.2s in 50 knots...

Watches I have seen include Coros, Suunto Garmin . . . I think you might use the Coros but don't know which model. My max speeds thus far are 1/2 of yours but I love keeping track for myself! what do you recon: is it more important to have a speed board or a speedsail?

    • @WindsurfingTV
      @WindsurfingTV  3 роки тому

      good question... you need both but if you had to pick one it would depend on the extreme of the other if you know what i mean.
      For example i would say a spped board with a wave sail would be better than a wave board with a speed sail!!

    I really don't think there was 75 Knt... I've been sailing once with 60 knt, and the sea was totally white.. trees falling, van door thrown away to the other side... with a 3.0 meter sail .. imposible to handle a bigger size... I saw a sail and a board flying 30 meters high, blown away from the beach, not sailing... don't think this is 75 knt wind... but I wish to sail that spot ! soon..
