Thanks for posting this. I'm 87 and I never saw this on tv..am looking forward to watching it start to finish. I played snooker man and boy until me knees than me eyes went. I remember beating a very young Tony Meo in South London over a frame..young scallywag he was went on to be a great proffesional
@@SnookerBreak yeah i know , just thought it was amusing to imagine steve in a fist fight :) mate of mine played tony knowles, was just waay too good, even though my friend has had a break of 141 in the past
Thanks for posting this, I hope there's more to come. For an old American who doesn't always understand British slang, can you tell me the significance of "the blue is behind the yellow"?
No slang this time. Ted said "the blue is the one behind the yellow" for the benefit of those watching on black & white TVs but it was such a fail because, of course, his helpful hint could only work if the viewers of black & white TVs could actually see colour, in which case it wouldn't have been required anyway! The hilarious unintended absurdity of it all. It is a peculiarly British sort of thing.
I don't suppose there was such a thing as a snooker coach back then. I'm sure all of the players of that era would play at a far higher standard if they'd been around today.
john spencer one of the lost greats
Absolutely.

You're welcome. Well done for that. I played Steve Davis once and got a right kicking!
@@SnookerBreak did n't see him as the violent type :)
@@mikerusby A kicking in the snooker sense. And I've never been allowed to forget it by my mates!

Griffiths and Taylor were still in the worlds top 32 when this was aired

Hello. Yes there is more to come. I'll have to rewatch it properly myself to see if I can work that out myself. Stay tuned.
I'd say it's something to do with the blue ball being behind the yellow ball, but just a hunch

just the fact that since its displayed in black and white, you couldn't tell if it was blue or yellow :)
The Lord's streaker was actually in 1975.
If John spencer had a coach he might have been a much better player. He never got his head down on the shot
