    *********SEE MY 2ND REVIEW OF THIS CAR AFTER WE FIXED THE ALTERNATOR WHINE!!! We recently we got rid of that horrible whine from the engine!!! The noise turned out to be coming from the alternator and the idler pulley!!! I will make a newer video of this car without that awful whine in the near future, and the engine sounds GREAT!!! Right now the engine sounds better than ever, and it's as quiet as can be! It sounds like a normal engine now!********* CHECK IT OUT! • (My First Car) 2001 Ol...
    For a long time I've tried to do a good review of this car, and I finally had a chance. This is an in-depth review of our 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora with a 3.5L 24V Twin Cam V6 with a little over 107,000 miles. *********One thing I would like to point out is my deepest apologies at the end of this video, somehow my finger accidentally hit the stop recording button when I was going to get an exhaust shot. A figured it would be easier to make another video that focused on how the engine sounds than to do the review all over again.********* ^^^FYI there are several times at the end of the video where I barely hit the rev limiter which is somewhere between 3,700 to 4,000 RPM.^^^ Watch Part 2 to get a better idea of what the engine sounds like!!! :-)
    SPECIFICATIONS:
    2001 Oldsmobile Aurora 3.5L V6 (built in May of 2000)

    Firing Order: Even (1-2-3-4-5-6)
    215 hp @ 5,600 RPM
    230 lb-ft of torque @ 4,400 RPM
    0-60 Time: about 8 seconds
    Compression Ratio: 9.3: 1
    (4T65-E) 4 Speed Automatic Transmission (Overdrive & FWD)
    Fuel Economy: 87 Octane - 19 City, 28 Highway (I average around 16-17 MPG, mainly city driving and shorter trips)

    I have one with 246k miles on it. Still my everyday car. They have their problems, like any other car, but run & ride great. Change the oil regularly.

    Something on that serpentine belt is not happy. Sounds a bit like the typical sound of a bad GM steering pump. Other than that, great car! Always had a thing for the last-gen Auroras.

      I'm glad you liked it. If you want a better idea of what the engine sounds like without that terrible alternator and idler-bearing whine, I made another complete review similar to this one but when the engine sounds normal. Below is the link:

      @@oldsmobileaurora7418 ok obviously you know nothing about the audio system in this car... its not made by Panasonic its made by Delco Electronics. And the Bose is an upgrade over the base Delco system. Get your facts straight. I sell GM products so I know a great deal about them.

    I bought a non running 2001 Olds Aurora for 400 dollars, and got it running. The shortstar V6 sounds and runs great now, and the car is overall just a handsome automobile. I only need a cap for one of the wheels to cover up those ugly lug bolts and I need a radio on/off button (10:01) as mine cracked. My thoughts on the video: Good video, and nice ride, man!

    • @MrJp990
      @MrJp990 9 років тому

      Thanks. I tell you, the Auroras are reliable little cars. The Northstar V8 4.0L and its baby brother, the Shortstar V6 3.5L are very reliable. They have a limp home feature that is very interesting to read about. Look it up, man youll find out alot about your Aurora, alot of things youll find out you didnt know about, too.

    RYAN, good video. Do you own this car? Would you recommend that others BUY this car?

    • @RyanEmeryLovesCars
      @RyanEmeryLovesCars  4 роки тому +3

      I did own it up until January of this year. I sold it. I wouldn't recommend it because they have a lot of issues as they age. In the video mine might look nearly perfect but in reality it was leaking a lot of oil, burning some oil, leaked coolant on and off (though a bottle of stop leak usually fixed the problem), and this January I discovered something wasn't right with the AC and was pretty sure it was leaking freon somewhere. Because I live in a desert and it's not easy fixing something like that that was the last straw for me. At that point it wasn't worth dumping any more money into it. I bought a new Hyundai Tucson which I like a lot. The problems I listed are only a few, there were several others. I think the exact day I sold it was January 24 or 25, and recently I discovered that as of May, the new owner got into an accident and the car now has a salvage title and will not be fixed. The damage was in the front lower left-hand portion comprised of the bumper, hood, headlight, foglight area. It didn't look too bad but the auction report states that there's more than $10,000 in damage. I don't buy that. Also the windshield was cracked (which wasn't replaced that long ago) and both front airbags deployed. I was pissed when I found out about this. This car had been in my family since December 2003 when my dad bought it for my mom as a Christmas present. Between all of us it went 18+ years accident-free but with the new owner it got wrecked within 4 months or less. >:-( There's a lot of good still-usable parts on it. But once it's parted out I'm sure it will go in the crusher one day. Shame. I had ALL the original books, manuals, stickers, etc. The final mileage on the odometer displayed 131,070 miles. I sold it at around 125,500.

      Eddie White Yeah I don't blame her for getting rid of it as it got older. In the next 2 or 3 years from now I'll probably sell mine and buy a 2015-2017 Toyota Camry XLE or a 2013-2015 Toyota Venza. I like my Aurora a lot but they do have their problems when they get older.

      My dad just got himself a car after not really having a nice one for himself as he's been a Cadillac and former oldsmobile dealer since 70's till now in northern Indiana. He chose an Aurora V8 last edition . A little over 30,000 miles for 6,200. One owner and kept indoors. I'm happy for him that he finally owns his own badass vehicle instead of driving around beaters from the used car lot. We've owned an Aurora V6 from 2001 and it has so many electrical problems yet the air conditioner still works good as new without any problems for 19 years lol.

    Does this model of car have versatile parts and is it reliable?

    • @RyanEmeryLovesCars
      @RyanEmeryLovesCars  2 роки тому +2

      @Michelle Marie No. They're not reliable and parts are not versitile. Many things will break when they get older. This video is old but when I sold it in 2020 I could make an Excel spreadsheet of the issues it had. Whether it's the LX5 V6 like mine or one or the L47 4.0L NorthStar, this is the car for you if:
      You enjoy leaking oil pan gaskets staining the concrete
      You smile when seeing coolant leak onto the garage floor because of the leaky coolant crossover valve (if you want to replace it, it's only $3,500 or so. You simply need to remove the engine from the car to access it. No biggie)
      You think it's fun replacing the battery underneath the rear seat
      You enjoy spending a lot of money for parts (if you can even find them, such as the third brake light. They're not made anymore. For certain things you'll need to go to the junkyard)
      You don't mind oil consumption
      You appreciate squeaks and rattles
      You like saggy headliners
      You're good at replacing starters every 3 years (and for extra fun, it's located underneath the exhaust manifold)
      You're a pro at replacing power window motors (they fail constantly for these cars)
      And finally, you love the American engineering philosophy of the early 2000's-design things to be as complicated as possible, just like the Germans
