Bit of trivia: this part of the game is a modified version of what was supposed to be a tutorial. The developers cut the original because it didn't live up to their standards. One notable difference between that and the final version is that the protagonist originally rejected big square's hug.

Actually, it was because this chapter was too long for their liking and they didn't like the pacing. This is said by the official designer of the game.

I love ho we get more 'backstory' from this chapter, like how we met cube friend and how the tree of life came to be. Also gives us the reason why blixer in the cave was gray and why he was there at all. My big remaining question this is really about why blixer despises us from the beginning

Ok so pretty much this chapter is between long live the new fresh and new game in the storyline, and happens before the tree of Life gets corrupted by the main boss

I just beat this chapter god damn some of those new levels were hard! Especially spider dance and interlaced. Interlaced really forces you to control your dashes. As you have to do small and difficult dashes
