Welcome to our presentation of "The Courage of Kavik the Wolf Dog," a heartwarming 1980 made-for-TV adventure film based on the beloved novel "Kävik the Wolf Dog." Follow the incredible journey of Kavik, a champion sled dog, and his bond with a young boy, Andy, set against the stunning backdrop of the Alaskan wilderness.
Kavik, a champion sled dog, wins a prestigious race in Alaska and is sold for $4000 to George Hunter, a ruthless businessman from Seattle. However, disaster strikes when the plane carrying Kavik crashes in the snowy wilderness, leaving the dog barely alive.
The crash site is discovered by young Andy Evans, who lives in the nearby fishing settlement of Copper City. Despite Kavik's severe injuries, Andy persuades his parents to let him get help from Dr. Walker, the local doctor. Dr. Walker reluctantly tends to Kavik, who slowly recovers and forms a strong bond with Andy. However, Kavik, traumatized by the crash, is terrified of other dogs and runs away when threatened.
Hunter eventually claims Kavik and takes him to Seattle, but the dog is unhappy in his new surroundings. The kennel manager helps Kavik escape, and the brave dog undertakes an arduous journey back to Copper City, overcoming numerous challenges along the way. Barely alive, Kavik reunites with Andy.
When Hunter returns to reclaim Kavik, Andy's father, Kurt, stands up to him, asserting that Kavik is happier with their family. After some heated exchanges, Hunter begrudgingly agrees to sell Kavik to the Evans family for a nominal sum, allowing Kavik to stay where he truly belongs.

This film, Kavic (1980), borrows the storyline of the long, perilous journey of "Lassie (1943)" from Scotland to England. Lassie both walked & swam about 260 miles crossing the river Ness, to get back to her beloved boy & family. Kavic both walked & ferried the north Pacific Ocean from Seattle WA., to Alaska to get back to the boy that saved his life. Two tales of two Champion canines that accomplished the almost impossible for the sake of love. ❤❤👨👩👦🐕👨👩👦🐕

I have a Husky, Shepherd. She was my X girl friend dog . I got rid of the girlfriend and and kept Cheyenne. That is better than winning the lottery. This could be a long story but I'll make it short. I have had her for years and this is the best choice I've ever made.

Good Movie. I said what I meant, I got rid of the x girl friend and kept the dog. Good story though. To this day my dog and best friend is doing fine. Fact, Dog is mans best friend..❤❤❤

Beautiful as this movie is, there is nothing that would indicate that this German shepherd is part wolf. Being a dog &/ hybrid would not make any difference to the story. A very enjoyable movie nonetheless. Very well done. Kind regards.
