You're my go to every time I want to learn about or have purchased a new board game. Once again, amazing video with clear explanation of the game's rules. Thank you!
The Op has a few different Rising games if you like the look of the game but not the theme. There’s Thanos Rising (Marvel) Dark Side Rising (Star Wars themed with Darth Vader at the centre), Plankton Rising (Spongebob because why not) coming out soon, and The Batman who Laughs Rising (based on the Dark Nights Metal story arc in DC comics) coming out soon too.
Watch It Played I ordered it, and I definitely will play it! It looks like a fun game!!! Thanks for so many great videos. Merry Christmas to you and your family. I hope your daughter is coming up from Florida!!
Been waiting for this to go up! I noticed the game at a local tabletop bar and was curious to try it out, but we were out of time. Looks challenging and fun! One observation. It appears as though there aren't a TON of dice, and if ally wizards/witches can add dice, I can see hitting the cap often. Perhaps I missed it, but is there any limit to how many allies you can recruit?
VengefulTorture Not limit you allies, but keep in mind, they have a variety of beneficial powers, beyond just giving extra dice, so while you might hit the cap in some cases, getting new wizards will often be useful.
Hi there I recently started playing this game... I have a question regarding when attacking voldemort... so its clear you can only attack him to the amount of defeated death eaters... however does this mean if possible you can attack voldemort numerous times in one players turn? So if I have managed to roll 6 swords can I attack voldemort twice? Or is it only 1 hit per turn?
It's been awhile since I shot this, so I don't recall the rules from memory anymore, but how ever many times you're normally able to attack on your turn remains the same as before Vold is revealed. Not sure if that helps (I don't have my copy handy, as I lent it to a friend).
A little off-topic question. What's the surface of your table? Neoprene? I m going to build a DYI table and i need some infos about what surface should i use.
Hi Eric, I shot this long enough that I don't recall where I discovered this. I worked directly with the publisher, I may have had to ask them to clarify at the time.
Hey Jared, checked with the designer, and got this answer: "In general there is not a significant difference between the two phrasings. In all cases, only the player who controls a character (has it on their team) may use it, and the ability on the character may only be used once per turn. It’s possible in this case the players are either asking if Madam Pomfrey can be used on all players turns (the answer is no) and/or if Dumbledore grants a die for only 1 roll, or to use as a normal part of the dice pool throughout the turn (it’s the latter). More specifically in the case of these two specific characters: Dumbledore grants the controlling player an extra die to use throughout their turn. They gain the die at the beginning of their turn, and use it as a normal part of their dice pool (not just on a single roll). Madam Pomfrey has a healing ability which may be used 1 time on each of the controlling player’s turns. Once the player chooses which damage to remove the ability may not be used again until their next turn."
Another question, sorry :( on Ernie and Madame Pomfrey, it says Once per turn you can apply their healing. My understanding is each player has a turn and when everyone has gone, that is a round. So, can you use your healing when it changes turns from player to player or just when it is the active player with the wizard in their team? Really appreciate all your quick responses!
When assigning dice, can you only assign them on one particular place at any given time? For example, if I rolled a double hat and a double sword, I could not assign the double hat to saving a hero and also the double sword towards attacking a death eater, right? But I COULD assign both of those dice to the same one place on one roll, like both to recruit a person. Does that sound correct?
You can assign to as many cards in your region as you want after each roll, regardless of their type. Of course, once they are assigned they cannot be moved or re-rolled.
Last one, I promise. Ron's card is 4 swords and 1 Army. Snape and Kingsly, that do the same thing essentially, are 4 hats and 4 pheonix with one sword each instead. Is it a typo on Ron's card? Seems weird that he takes more swords to get than it takes to damage Voldemort.
So if you assign a couple of dice, keep rolling, and then realize that u could get something else, can u reassign already assigned dice or are they stuck once u assign them? Thx again!
Question for madam pomfrey if you know. Her ability says that she can heal one wizard per turn. Is that once per that players turn or once during every players turn. We've been playing as every players turn since it doesn't say your turn and unless I missed it the rule book doesn't say that you cant.
I do by best to answer all rules questions on the games I cover, but I avoid individual card effects, as that's a level of detail beyond what I can manage across all the videos I do. I'd suggest checking the rules forum for the game on BoardGameGeek or the publishers website. I hope you can find your answer there - have fun playing!
Do you remove your mission token at the end of your turn or keep it on the board while everyone takes their turn and therefore take damage if Voldemort is in that location on someone else's turn?
When moving to Lord V's location to attackhim in the second part of the game, is that correct that we must use the 4 initial dice only, no extra dice added by team wizards, forfeit one and roll only the 3 remaining?
What does the sentence mean ''Players will always first collect their dice pool for the turn based on their INITIAL deployment, AND DO NOT ADD OR LOSE DICE for Wizards abilities on their team if they decide to redeploy to Lord V's location'' ?
It means that you first gain any bonuses from going to the initial location you picked (for example, you may have wizards that gain bonuses for that location), but if you re-deploy to Voldemort's location after that, you don't then ALSO get bonuses from the new location.
Seems like a lot of luck is involved in this game (roll dice, draw random cards, random spell bonuses). Would you classify this as a strategy game or pure luck?
Hello, very good video many thanks. Only after 5 losing games and look some Rule and Lets Play videos later, I found out, that you have to take the missions token back at the end of the turn. BUT… Where does the rules say that??? 🙁
It's been a little while since I shot this, but I believe the rules don't say it - we had to check too, and so sometimes our rules videos are more up to date than the rule books.
@@WatchItPlayed Then it would have been good to mention in the video that it is not in the included in the rules for clarification. 🙃Many thanks for answer…
@@wildjenna That doesn't work, because once they update the rule book, the note in the video won't make any sense to future viewers. It's a situation with no ideal fix - but we work with the publisher to ensure the videos are as accurate as possible, so do feel free to take them as accurate. Any errors they may occasionally come in, we will note in the description of the video.
Curious what everyone’s experience has been playing? We keep getting creamed. The dark mark comes up and having a few too many death eaters active corrupts spaces and damages us a lot. Are you suppose to take more than one damage per turn? If you are at V’s location and hit the dark mark you get damaged a tonne and corruption spirals. Want to make sure we are playing correctly
Your skills with toss boxes and magically revealing buried cards is always a joy to watch, thanks for the excellent work!

Ah! Thanos Rising for Harry Potter fans! Nice! Thank you again! :)
A pleasure! Glad you enjoyed :)
I love board games and I love Hary Potter! This is the best of both worlds!

I think you magically returned those cards to the box, even though it was behind you and closed.

I hope you have a great time with it!
Tried this, did not work, can you please make a tutorial on How to win?
Ha! Thanks for the interest. I’m going to have to leave that for you to discover on your own.
Curious, when you exchange a wizard with a player using the spell token, do you remove the damage from that wizard?
You don't, as I understand it.
I think I am going to get this for my daughter for Christmas. She is crazy about Harry Potter, and I think she would love this!
Hope she has a good time with it Frank - and you too, if you try it out with her!

So if at the end of ur turn u dont have enough dice to get what u assigned dice to, do those dice remove at end of turn or stay there?
They are removed.
A little off-topic question. What's the surface of your table? Neoprene? I m going to build a DYI table and i need some infos about what surface should i use.
It's a crepe fabric.
I couldn’t find the rule of getting your mission token back at end of turn in the rule book. Is this hidden or was it in an FAQ?
Hi Eric, I shot this long enough that I don't recall where I discovered this. I worked directly with the publisher, I may have had to ask them to clarify at the time.
It says on the back of your playerboard
Hey Rodney, when you collect the spell tokens at the end of turn, can you use them right away? Or on your next turn?
Afraid not, you can't use the spell token on the same turn you get it.
@@WatchItPlayed That's what I thought. Thanks!
What is the difference in abilities that are 'once per turn' (madam pomfrey is an example) or using an ability 'each turn' (Dumbledore as an example)

That's more of a question for the publisher, I'm afraid.
Curious, if you get a double symbol on the same dice, can you split that across your team or wizards at your location?
You can overpay at a spot, but you cannot split the difference between two different things.
So if you assign a couple of dice, keep rolling, and then realize that u could get something else, can u reassign already assigned dice or are they stuck once u assign them? Thx again!
They are locked in once you place them.
Just to confirm what Mike said, assigned dice cannot be moved later.
Can I activate a hero ability who is in a sector, or can I only activate character abilities who are already recruited and on my team?
Hey Sean, only those that are already on your team.
How many takes did it take you to reveal that Voldemort card? The box toss trick is already past news
First time, every time, of course! ;)

You do! ua-cam.com/video/w4Kb7N2GAhI/v-deo.html
@@WatchItPlayed awesome, thanks! Missed that first go through. We definitely made it too difficult on the first play through.
So once you draw the Voldemort card and place it on his location, do you fill in the space on the board with another card as well?
Correct!
So you first have to recruit the wizards before you can use their abilities?
It's been a little while since I shot this, but if that's what the video says, then yes :)

What does the sentence mean ''Players will always first collect their dice pool for the turn based on their INITIAL deployment, AND DO NOT ADD OR LOSE DICE for Wizards abilities on their team if they decide to redeploy to Lord V's location'' ?
Nope - you just have to spend a single die from your pool to relocate to his position. You then roll and use bonus dice as usual.
It means that you first gain any bonuses from going to the initial location you picked (for example, you may have wizards that gain bonuses for that location), but if you re-deploy to Voldemort's location after that, you don't then ALSO get bonuses from the new location.
