Your editing/voiceover is so good. The recurring clips of your daughter sewing and the finished dress at the end was great video making! You are not only a great homemaker but excellent videographer. I love seeing all the kids playing and helping. Adorable.

As an autistic *homemaker, it is so affirming to hear you talk about feeling that you don't have time to do new things, even though they end up being simple and straightforward. I feel like one of my biggest struggles is having moments like these in areas that don't seem difficult to other people (because they aren't, inherently), but they still require that extra bit of energy to commit to doing.

It happened when women had to go to work to pay the bills. Working mother’s don’t have time and/or energy to learn and do a lot of these things. Also remember that the internet wasn’t available until recent years. You couldn’t instantly find out how to do something.

We were a family of 9, I was the oldest girl, 2nd oldest child. We helped mom do all kinds of stuff, laundry, ironing, dishes, vacuuming, etc . Plus we helped dad outside. Cleaning out garage once a month, everything out and he would sweep it and hose it out, then everything back in. Yard work, mowing and weeding. All kinds of stuff. It was just how we functioned as a family.
Btw Lisa, it makes me smile to see your kids. Your daughter with her little brother sitting on her lap while she shows him how she sews! How cute is that!!! Your son drinking up the last bit of honey from the jar, the baby with his precious smiles. I especially liked all the boys surrounding dad to watch the drone. They were probably biting at the bit to try it for themselves😂! It’s so cool to watch the family together . Thanks for sharing, God bless your family.

Such a fun day at home. My daughters also learned to sew and bake at a young age. Recently when watching old home movies my daughter said “ he did help with the dishes (our oldest son)!” Yes he did I think she was thinking of her teenage sons. For the sake of some set rhythm, I take Monday/Tuesday for cleaning our second floor, Wednesday and Thursday for first floor, and kitchen on Friday since that’s also my grocery shopping day. If there are projects that need to be done I just work on them when I’m in that space. But otherwise, I try to do what you do and just deal with whatever I see is needed! I wish we could have one big cleaning day so everything’s done at the same time but alas, this just isn’t the season 🙃

All of us have opportunities to learn and grow from past experiences....you can take what worked and apply your new knowledge to nurturing your grandchildren....if and when you have them

Wow, your daughter whipped that dress together so easily and it came out beautiful. She's very talented, as is your other daughter's who cook and bake. You never know, one might become a famous designer and the other's can write cookbooks. Your son's will grow up to be excellent husband material and able to do just about anything. It's been a brutal hot spring/summer already so swimming is a must. Hope everyone has fun and congratulations to your sister on a new baby.

What a lovely episode. Your wise words can apply to so many situations too. Staying on top of things by spending more time at home and having less “stuff” works so well for me as a grandmother too, Thank you for for showing us how you do it.

Thought of you and sent hellos and prayers into the universe as we drove through Missouri yesterday (STL to St Joseph!) as we travel from Florida to Washington for the summer. Wondering if any farmhouses we passed were you and daydreaming about homesteading here…it’s beautiful!

I was the oldest in a large family and Saturdays we were not allowed out to play until our bed sheets were changed and our rooms spotless. It worked! We got to play and mom didn't have those rooms to clean or beds to change. You do a great job with all of this. Love seeing your daughters creating beautiful things! Great skills.

I have to tell you that I am so thankful that you have shared how you lean more on doing what works, when it works, and also making meals with what you have more on the fly, rather than schedules and meal planning. In theory cleaning schedules and meal planning sound good to me, but they just don’t work for me, nor do I like them. You’ve reminded me that there is no one-size-fits-all and that is perfectly fine. You’ve helped remind me to do what works for me and own it. Thank you!

I agree about doing things as needed throughout the day instead of focusing on a one day deep clean. My kitchen also has to be cleaned after every mess. Chaos is not my friend! LOL! Love your new dress. I'm always so impressed with your daughter's life skills. I could never make a dress like that! I always enjoy seeing your beautiful family. What sweet blessings! 💙💙💙
