    Great explanation of the different sizes. I chose the concert.

    My first uke was a soprano. I've owned it for nearly 10 years (and it's definitely showing its wear and tear). My hands were smaller then, so it did fit better than it does now. I've since bought a concert ukulele (which, once I install the pickup, will be my main one for everything), and not only does it have a much more resonant tone (even being entirely laminate wood, although the soprano is a laminate top on a plastic body), it fits my hands much better than the soprano does. It's amazing how much of a difference just a few centimeters of scale length makes. And I can still play without a strap, even standing up

    The baritone sounds like a cross between an ukulele and guitar. That is what attracts me to it.

    Thank you for using the same model and brand to really show how size affects sound. I play a Luna tattoo soprano that I got as a souvenir in Hawaii and am looking for a next step up in quality concert.

    I still have a Martin Baritone that my dad got me for Christmas back in 66-67. I realize you’re going to focus on ukes that are from your sponsors, but could you sometimes do a show featuring a Baritone Martin? Great channel BTW.

    These are really growing on me. Really found this comparison useful. The Baritone especially I like.

    Great video
    I have 2 baritones and 2 tenors. I prefer the tone of the tenors but really like the spacious fretboards on the baritone. I'd like a concert but I find then difficult to fret with shorter scale.

    Is the nut width different from size to size? I received my first Uke in Concert size yesterday and I’m quite frustrated because there is no way I can fit my fingers to play an “E chord” or even worst a “Cm7 chord”.

    I need a support from someone. I have a ukulele concert to learn, is very nice however I would like to buy a electric one to learn with headphones withoud disturb others for hours… is possible to play electric as I al playing a acustic? (i mean notes and possible without effects)? Thanks :)

    I really love the full sound of the baritone! Currently I'm trying to play the guitar but I can't seem te leave the neighbouring strings alone when playing chords. I have pretty big fingers. Is the space between the strings bigger on a ukelele compared to an acoustic guitar? If so I might have to get me one...

    I have medium size fingers n am a guitar player. Looking to start over a uke.. very much confused, should I go for a concert size or a tenor.
    Is it so difficult to play leads on a concert?

    • @cheburek8707
      @cheburek8707 2 роки тому

      yes. Only the soprano is hard to play for anything else than strumming. Concert is like the tenor, just a little bit smaller but it also stays in tune pretty good going down the frets not like soprano sometimes.

    • @cheburek8707
      @cheburek8707 2 роки тому +1

      But most importantly Leads and fingerstyle overall is no problem for the concert. I’d say if you have a guitar get a concert for the different feeling. If you only want a ukulele get tenor just for being slightly easier overall

    You didn't discuss how the intonation could be a problem as you move up the neck of the soprano. And less chords

    Edit: Baritone uke= Low D, Low G, B, E
    Low D->G
    Low G->C
    B->E
    E->A

    Love your videos, Terry. Being tall, I found the tenor to be the better size, so I wouldn’t have to get a kink in my wrist. And the Baritone’s tuning seems more like a guitar. But this does being to mind that one can string with the low, vs. high G. Makes me wonder how often that’s done, as I do love bass. I think, besides sizes, what’s astounding is all the different kinds of ukes, e.g., banjo-uke, etc...
    Really enjoyed - and appreciated! - the expert editing!
    Thanks,
    Linda
